Two Comfort Zones
There are times when we find ourselves out of shape, with zero energy and zero motivation. When you stay there for a while you may be miserable, but in a sense you get comfortable. It's a place that is familiar and has no suprises we tell ourselves; see diabetes. We all know there's another comfort zone out there where you…

Ideas for quick high protein breakfast
I'm curious as to what you guys would suggest for a quickly made, high protein, no/low carb, non dairy, breakfast with about 300 - 400 calories. Scrambled eggs and turkey bacon or sausage is what I'm doing now. It's fine but looking for variety. I'm open to non-traditional breakfast foods too.

I am the new owner of....
a Keurig coffee maker. Pretty darn cool and way easy to use. What are you the new owner of?

Odd/funny things you see at the gym
I work out in a no frills, non-giant corp, family owned gym. My dept pays for the membership so I go there. However, I've seen a guy working out in jeans, a guy with a trucker hat and toothpick in mouth in cargo shorts ang other odd types of dress. It's not very often but c'mon, you don't work out in jeans, right? Mind…

Deadlifts and weight belts = poor form?
I've thought if you can't deadlift without a belt, you shouldn't be lifting it. It has been since the 90s since I deadlifted so I'm curious if that's what you guys do? Going to start adding that so I'm curious.

When You Stumble on Your Journey
Having a goal is crucial, we all can agree but we often forget what is "normal" when chasing goals. You will have successes but we need to acknowledge that we will have failures and setbacks. We have visions of greatness and there's nothing that can stop us when we begin our journey, then you live life and reality kicks…

Weight Vests-Anyone here use these?
Was thinking about getting one. Your thoughts?

What are YOU running from? :D
After I started getting back in shape I had my bloodwork done. My Dr said I was about a year from Stage 1 diabetes and in five years I'd be in Stage 2 diabetes and other issues if I had kept on my current pace and done nothing. Thank God I found my footing and got my rear in gear. The T Rex in this pic is my unhealthy life…

Low carb dessert ideas?
I'm currently using FF whipped cream (frozen) and SF Hershey's Choc Syrup as my go to sweet snack. What do you turn to for a low carb desert?

To those who have reached their goal.
How much, if any, did visualization play in reaching that goal? How close are you now to what you visualized then? Feel free to friend me as well.

How do you plan to celebrate when you hit your goal?
I've got a long way to go with time to think about it, but how do YOU plan on celebrating?

Have a sweet tooth?
My go to snack is 4 table spoons of fat free whipped cream and a little sugar free chocolate syrup. It's like chocolate pudding with low cal and carbs. What's yours?

Need "intense" friends for motivation
You know who you are. Type A, highly strung, tightly wound, warriors with a good sense of humor. Send request please. To clarify, not the gym screamers or weight droppers who look for attention. I'm talking gritty, determined, no nonsense folks who don't take themselves too seriously.

For the new folks getting started...
I see at times, in the short time I've been here, posts about feelings of uncertainty, fear, and feelings of being uncomfortable in getting plugged in at a new gym, aerobics class or other fitness class because of seeing the "skinny" people. It's very common to have that "fish out of water" feeling when starting something…

Turning 40 was a _____. Upping cal intake = A++ for me
I just wanted to share my story should anyone be going through what I experienced. I had been pretty active most of my adult life but an injury derailed my progress. To sum it up, I had been going to Jiu Jitsu clasess for a while then one session I had an ache in my neck and shoulder the next day. That ache didn't go away…

Starting over and doing it right...
Since last Summer, I dropped my calories to about 1200 to 1300 and upped my progress in the gym. I got stronger but I heavier in other ways too. This method worked in my 20's and 30's but at 41, things change. I was totally stumped until I saw a doctor who specialized in health and wellness using nutrition. He said I was…
