November check in and chat thread
Happy November! I didn't get to the gym yesterday, and I have 2 medical appointments today. One of them is with my nutritionist for a check in, and I haven't been tracking meals very well.

September check-in and chat thread
Since it's the 3rd and no one has set this up yet. . . . (I'm doing 3 sets instead of 5 - 5 sets were requiring 2-4 days off and I was only getting in 2 workouts a week). Yesterday: Squat: Warm up: 45 lbs, 7 reps; 70 lbs, 5 reps; 95 lbs, 4 reps; 105 lbs, 3 reps Sets: 115 lbs, 3x4* Bench: Warm up: 45 lbs, 7 reps; 55 lbs, 5…

Thought I'd share
this with the Ladies who Lift. http://2010flacas.blogspot.com/2012/08/nutritionist-appointment-and-last.html I reached a milestone in weight loss - more than 10% of my initial weight gone. Had blood drawn today, too; I hope it shows better glucose and insulin numbers than last Nov. (insulin resistant/pre-diabetic). The…

Opinions: change one day to front squats instead of back?
So, my hamstrings and glutes are getting a heck of a workout from squats and deads, but since I switched to low bar and got better at form, I don't think my quads are doing as much work. Despite what NROLFW says, my quads have always been a bit weaker than my hamstrings. Back when I didn't know what I was doing and hired a…

I suck at being supportive
which is why I don't "friend" people regularly. Really. Someone says, "I'm not losing weight, whhhhhhyyyy??" I respond. I give info. I ask a question. I even take the time to look at someone's diary and realize they are only eating 800 cals/day; comment on that. Person says, "Weigh in is tomorrow morning before coffee and…

Changing her mind
My daughter is active. She's a black belt in tae kwon do, testing for 2nd degree in Oct. Anyway, when I started researching the lifting stuff, she thought I was a little crazy. When she saw me watching Rippetoe videos and others on form over and over again, she thought I was crazy. She's on vacation, visiting family across…

Sometimes . . .
Wasn't sure where to put this. Sometimes I think people sound like this on here: What I'm finding is that in the past, I quit when I had a bad day. I quit when I felt fat. I quit when I overate one meal. I quit when I didn't lose for a week. I quit too easily. This time, I haven't quit. My first appt with the nutritionist…

Rant: Politeness in the gym
Dear young-guy-in-the-gym: Re-rack your goddamned weights when you're done. I shouldn't have to move 230lbs of plates before I can lift 55-60 lbs. Although I did laugh at you doing seated overhead presses in the Smith machine, I really don't want to turn into the gym mom. Also, who is the silly person who keeps removing…

Doc & Nutritionist confused me
This is sort of more of a rant than asking for advice. First stats: 42 years old Female 5'3" ~188 lbs Military measurement body fat 46-47% Scale body fat 42-44% I have several risk factors for diabetes and am showing insulin resistance. I am "apple" shaped. My mom has just been diagnosed with diabetes (and there's other…
