What are your meal names?
Just a random thread for Friday. Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snacks Drinks A lot of my calories are drinks. If I exercise enough for a treat I am most likely to be tempted by a Hot Chocolate or Chocolate Frappé. Are you using the standard meal names? If not, why did you change them?

Running in the rain
I have started by 4 round of C25K. For the first time, this time all my runs are outside (I no longer have a gym membership). This week I ran on Monday and Wednesday. I should have pushed myself to run last night (Friday) but that is in the past. It is now Saturday morning, it is raining, and Cyclone Lusi is on its way. My…

Pet peeve for the day
Today I saw an article where someone was talking about leangains IF (a daily eating window) to successfully lose 150 kg and the "expert" comment replied "Starving yourself for two days sets up an unhealthy relationship with food." It reminds me of the articles on 5:2 where someone refers to research that IF is dangerous…

Who else is using 6:1 fasting for maintenance?
5:2 fasting is effective for many people as a method of calorie restriction over a week time frame and the Dr Mosely documentary suggests a range of other long term benefits. It is for these other benefits that I have switched to 6:1 now that I am at my goal weight. Who else is using 6:1 fasting for maintenance? Do you…

The switch to metric on MFP
MFP is improving their localization support - a fancy way of saying they are making changes to support both metric and imperial measurements. What are your thoughts on the changes? Have you noticed any changes yet?

When your mother says she's fat
I thought people here might relate to this - http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/wellbeing/8760102/When-your-mother-says-shes-fatDear Mum, I was seven when I discovered that you were fat, ugly and horrible. Up until that point I had believed that you were beautiful - in every sense of the word. I remember flicking through…

First outdoor run
Today I completed W4D1 outside. This is my 3rd attempt at the C25K and I am a big fan (even if I don't stick it out to the end). In early July I have a 6km mud run so I thought I should re-start the C25K. I am only doing 2 runs a week and a third lot of exercise (one week it was indoor rock climbing). On week 2 I tried day…

Does anyone know of a mud run this year?
Over the last few years I have seen different mud runs (like the Tough Guy and Gal challenge) but there was no way I would be fit enough to participate. I looked online but could not find any dates for 2013 mud runs. Does anyone know of any coming up? Maybe I was looking in the wrong places. :)

Other than weighloss - are you making other changes?
Most people on this site are making lifestyle changes. The obvious changes are diet and exercise. As part of being happy with my body, I am finally getting on to other things I have been thinking about but putting off for a long time. For me I have just had my teeth whitened and I am booked for iLasik so I will no longer…

Silliest things you have heard in ads recently
I am watching TV and just saw an ad for a hair product system. "We combine nature AND science ..."

Advice on how to reduce BF% from 34% to 25%
I have searched existing threads and seen a lot of comments about trying to reduce body fat below 20%. The few references to people trying to go from high body fat to 'normal' levels are rarely more detailed than "lift heavy". I thought the high to normal levels of BF% goal could do with some air time. There are a lot of…

Blisters on the bottom of my feet
With week 5 came blisters on the soles of my feet. I have noticed I am sweating a lot more so I have brought new socks. The socks I have been using are mostly cotton and are getting thin. Any other ideas? Shoe shopping is VERY stressful for me so I am reluctant to put it down to the shoes. Especially since I brought…

Your starting point!
Is your starting weight on here the same as your weight the first time you signed up? If so, is that the same time as when you decided to make a lifestyle change? I signed up to this site ages ago as a lot of people were talking about it on some forums. Months and 6kgs later I decided to start using this site. I did not…

C25K - who has done or is doing this?
I am doing the 'Couch to 5 km' challenge on a treadmill - http://www.c25k.com/c25k_treadmill.html though since I am starting from a beginner level I am more focused on time than distance. It would be great to connect with other Kiwis that have have worked on or are working on this challenge. My first attempt was last year.…

I need motivation!
Hi all, I completed W6D2 today. I repeated week 5 twice as I did not complete the day 3 run the first time. Now I am looking at the remaining 10 long runs and am not sure if I want to continue. I am starting to feel panic-y and anxious during the run and afterwards I am feeling low when earlier I felt a sense of…

Food is love
Have you heard the phrase "Food is love" before? This phrase is a way of life in my family and many others. We celebrate successes and commiserate set-backs with food and drink. Does this sounds familiar to anyone else?

Being honest with oneself
Today I put my progress ticker on my message board signature. It shows of my original goal of 9 kgs to lose I have 11 kgs to go. This weekend was also the first time I recorded what I ate on the weekend. I have been really good on weekdays but as I expected, it is my weekend eating habits that are hindering my progress…
