Should I be able to feel my muscle uhh.. tearing?
Occasionally when I do pushups or dips I can feel a very slight ripping sensation in my triceps. It's not painful, but it is slightly alarming and I usually ease up when I feel it. My arms are never super sore afterwards either. Is this normal?

Here's what I've got for ya: 28 yo female, 5'4", 156 lbs, 30% bf I've just started a bootcamp that I go to 3 times a week, 45 min a session. Additionally I do some cardio and yoga 2…

Help! I need motivation... but not for what you think.
It's Friday, it's not raining outside, I just booked a trip to China in May and I'm super stoked... And I have been compulsively browsing MFP forums for about 2 hours now. I need to get some work done but I just can't focus!!! Please, someone motivate me to get some work done! Or can you all start talking about some really…

The Full-Fat Paradox: Whole Milk May Keep Us Lean
Ran into this article today and thought I'd share! I've switched to all full fat dairy recently, and at the very least everything tastes 1000% more delicious and satisfying. Mmm. Butter. http://goo.gl/jw4nhR Disclaimer: probably still not a great idea for people with high cholesterol, as the article mentions.

Art Appreciators!! I need your help :)
I'm trying to choose a piece to buy my boyfriend for his birthday... He loves this polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski. I'm agonizing over which one out of these 7 to get him, so I thought I'd try to take a poll :) Be forewarned.. some of them are a bit spooky. 1.…

Cals Burned Question: HRM v. FitBit v. MFP
Well I'm pretty sure the question has been asked in one way or another many times, but I'm gonna ask again. I've heard many times that MFP and gym equipment are notorious for over-estimating calories burned, and that a HRM provides the most accurate estimate. I just wanted to get some more clarity on this, because I've…

Am I being naive??
I always feel weird posting personal "problems" on internet forums... but my mind has been running around in circles for weeks, and I would love some unbiased opinions on the matter! I have been dating my boyfriend for 6 months, and we were friends 6 months before we began seeing eachother. We are crazy about each other,…

The Word of the Day is...
Idiosyncrasy. Share some of yours! My personal favorite (and the one that gave me the idea for this thread just now): gas station coffee makes me sneeze. A LOT. Like, for five minutes straight. Most other coffees don't have the same effect, but a lot of alcoholic drinks do! *blows nose* id·i·o·syn·cra·sy (d--sngkr-s) n.…

A question for ladies who lift!
But first, a compliment: you're all my heroines :) Now the question: How did you all get started lifting? Tell me your stories, I need the inspiration!! I really want to start lifting weights (I love my cardio, and now I want to be STRONG!). I just don't know where to start. I'm currently reading "Starting Strength", per…

Binge today, gone tomorrow
Don't ask me about the title, it's late and I had a long day. SO wha'ha'happen was: yesterday was a date night, which means I didn't work out, and I ate a bunch of delicious buttery movie theater popcorn, followed by a delicious cheesy burger (on lettuce instead of a bun.. a girl's got to watch her figure, dontcha know!).…

Seattle folks, I need your help!
Hello! I know MFP is kind of a random place to discuss this, but these are pretty much the only forums I read! I'm looking for a new job and hoping to move out west (living in the DC area currently). I just had a phone interview with a company in Bothell, WA (Brooks Sports to be exact... how cool is that?!) that went very…

EM2WL FTL :(
Sigh... I so wanted to believe that EM2WL would work for me. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. I started on weight watchers and lost about 30 pounds in 11 months that way before switching over to calorie counting. WW uses points, so I'm not 100% sure what my normal cal intake was, but if I were to guess I'd say…

Smoking cessation & weight gain
I've been smoking for about 8 years now. I consider my self more of a casual smoker, since in that 8 years I've NEVER gone up to a pack a day or anything of the sort. On average, I'd say I smoke 3-5 cigarettes a day. I've been thinking about quitting a lot recently, and I don't think it will be TOO difficult for me.…

Fitness Goals v. Life Goals
I don't know what to focus on right now. I desperately want to reach my fitness goals (they feel so close yet still so far!). I started my weight loss/fitness journey over a year ago, and I've made a complete lifestyle change. I've come a long way, and I'm proud of my progress BUT I'm just not where I ultimately would like…

How do you love yourself?
Maybe it's just me, but I've been seeing a lot of negativity on MFP forums. A lot of comparing and judging and the like. So let's all take a moment to write about the gifts we were blessed with, be it physical or otherwise. Post the things that are unique and make you YOU. And if you're really struggling with your…

Beginner weight training!
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a beginner weight training or lifting program? Websites, books, dvd's? I like the idea of being able to strength train in my own backyard with minimal equipment to purchase (bodyweight exercises), and I have access to some free weights and machines at my gym at work. I'm…

2 weeks off!
I have unfortunately not been able to do a real workout in 2 whole weeks due to a combination of being sick, traveling and generally feeling lazy/tired/stressed out. I am forcing myself to get back on the horse today as soon as I get home from work. My question is: should I do my regular 5k workout, or do a shorter easier…
