Should I be able to feel my muscle uhh.. tearing?

Occasionally when I do pushups or dips I can feel a very slight ripping sensation in my triceps. It's not painful, but it is slightly alarming and I usually ease up when I feel it. My arms are never super sore afterwards either. Is this normal?

If there's no swelling, pain, or bleeding you're probably fine.
I think I know what you're talking about, I sometimes get it in my shoulders or elbows. I've always assumed it's just tendons rubbing or something along those lines. I have no actual idea what it is. I'd be curious if there's a scientific explanation that someone might have, but until then you can probably refer to my first sentence.0 -
Hyperextension is more likely to cause a muscle rip. What you are decribing sounds more like subluxation. I've never seen a triceps tear, just biceps. Sudden onset of "pop-eye" muscle with crazy bruising. Subluxation is an anatomic issue and not a sign of a problem0
