Brazil World Cup 2014
I was really looking forward to traveling to Brazil next year for the World Cup, and seeing Spain, my fathers country, try to go for a fourth world title. I knew the country had poverty problems, but i also was aware that it was sixth largest economy in the world. I thought it couldn't be that bad. But lately my eyes had…

Your medal
where did you hang it? i hope you all hung it somewhere where you can see it on a regular basis. did you take it to work? maybe it's in a drawer with all your work out clothes, so when you open it, you can fondly remember why you're doing this. it is three hundred and sixty days until next years spartan race. i know i am…

2/10 would not bang
i can't exactly quote it here as it would probably be strike worthy, but this is great. i'd love to respond this way in some of the threads here. http://slacktory.com/2012/01/2-10-would-not-bang-4chan/

One month to go
are you ready? folks, with a month to go, i want to stress that the cardio should be the most important part of your training. there is no dead lifting during this race. there is a long trail. there is no squating during the race. there are hills. while yes, lifting can help you running, the thing that helps your running…

is it wrong to hate a certain race?
i really prefer mud runs over regular races.

Curls
so i have a few serious questions about curls. where do they fit in in a traditional strength trainin program? what kind of benefits do you get from them? what are the differences between doing a barbell curl, a seated preacher curl, a seated dumb bell curl? the ez curl bar, or the one that has the two handles that keep…

5/3/1 and 5x5
are you following one over the other for any particular reason? in your opinion, what are the benefits of one of the other?? personally, i follow 5/3/1 because this site, strstd.com, has made it easy to track and keep an eye on what i am lifting, and what to lift next. i've never looked into 5x5 at all.

What is muscle soreness and how to prevent and combat it?
So many people here experience muscle soreness, and are restricted because of it. I was hoping to start a thread to show what it really is, and what can be done to prevent it, and to show that it is not always a good thing. i know a lot of people rely on that muscle soreness to let them know if they had a good work out the…

Strength Training 101
This was not written by me, but by Staci from Nerd Fitness. It tells her story on how she started strength training. All her fears and experiments. To really get a good feel for the article, and all the links associated with it, go right to the source. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/03/05/101-equipment/

the only obstacle you can't skip
in the spartan race, you can walk around and skip any obstacle you want. if you don't feel comfortable climbing a rope, or carrying a sandbag, or scrambling across a wall, you can go right around it with out a problem. sure, they'll tell you to do 30 burpees, but even then, they're not their staring you down and tallying…

work out plans
hey guys, with the new year coming, i thought maybe we could all post up our work out plans. you can be as specific as you want, or as vague as possible. you can say "i'm planning on running at least 30 minutes three times a week," or you can tell me how many miles you want to do a week.

the order of things
talking to a friend of mine, she said how at the end of her work outs now, she's going to do as many push ups in a row that she can. she wondered if it was a good idea. i told her that i like to sandwich my work outs with body weight exercises, but that she shouldn't max out every day, to allow a little rest. it got me…
