Replacing oil with bananas in baking
What's the general guideline for replacing the oil in a recipe with mashed banans? Is it equal measure? For instance replace 1/3 c oil with 1/3 c mashed banana? And do you have to adjust the remaining liquids? Thank you!

Jicama??
If anyone can help me with this jicama thing, I'd greatly appreciate it! I was looking for snack ideas, and found one that said a cup of jicama sticks is a great, low cal snack, and I figured it would help me get a veggie/fruit serving in. So, what is it, other than a root veggie? What's the flavor? What's the texture? How…

Does anyone know the conversion . . .
Since you all are a very handy wealth of general knowledge, I thought I'd throw this out there. Does anyone know the conversion to make bars instead of cookies? Higher temp? Longer baking time? No change? What should I do? Thank you!!

Question - The Hormone Diet (NOT hCG!)
After battling with a steady, yet pretty much unexplainable, weight gain over the last 4 years, I've come to the conclusion that something went haywire with my hormones when I went off birth control. So, I did some research this weekend and came across a plan by Dr. Natasha Turner called The Hormone Diet. I ordered the…

Running Question
For all you runners out there, I have a question for you. I've tried several different times to complete the Couch to 5k program, and I can only get through about Week 3 of the program. I can get through the Week 1 and Week 2 run/walk cycles without too much problem. By the time I get to the Week 3 run/walk cycle, I'm so…

NSV - Me vs The Browines
I helped my boyfriends daughter make brownies for him for Father's Day last night. Mixed everything all up, poured it in the pan, put the bowl and the spatula in the sink and filled it with hot soapy water to wash . . . . . and didn't take even ONE sneak of a taste!! Even swirled peanut butter through the batter and didn't…

Advice on tracking calories to correct low blood sugars
I'm a type 1 diabetic, and haven't methodically tracked calories consumed for a low blood sugar correction. Now, if I really fall into the "My blood sugars really low and I'm going to eat whatever I can get my hands on" trap, then yes, I track all but what was absolutely necessary. Generally a glass of OJ or one of those…

Cravings
I'm sure this has been posted several times along the way, but I'm new and haven't seen one recently. How does everyone deal with their cravings? I find I can't ignore them. I'm better to just eat whatever it is and suck up the calories for it. If I try to ignore it, I eat a little bit of this and a little bit of that,…
