Cravings

I'm sure this has been posted several times along the way, but I'm new and haven't seen one recently.

How does everyone deal with their cravings?

I find I can't ignore them. I'm better to just eat whatever it is and suck up the calories for it. If I try to ignore it, I eat a little bit of this and a little bit of that, rinse, repeat, until I finally just break down and eat what I was craving to begin with. So, even more calories.

And what about good substitues? Baked goods are usually my down fall. Has anyone tried those VitaMuffins? Are they any good?

And I'll admit, I blew my day this morning with a pumpkin muffin from Dunkin' Donuts. 600 calories later, and nearly half my calories for the day, I'm kicking myself and wondering how much squash soup a person can eat in one day!!

Thanks everyone!

  • oKAY. iF YOU WANT THE CRAVING TO STOP and not add on the calories chew gum, for some reason it works. I do not know why. I have 25 packs of excel in my desk. Today however I am so hungry I binged a bit.
  • Vitamuffins are awesome!!!! The tops are super good too :)
  • I have the same problem. I would like to see what others have to say.

In the past Ive been able to satisfy my sweet tooth with fruit, a sliver of dark chocolate and or even a couple of bites of whatever sweet it is that Im wanting but it takes willpower. Chances are you will enjoy what youre eating but will feel guilty after, I always do. If you resist or have a couple of bites you will def feel good about yourself & choice. I am trying to get back into this habit. I ate 4 oatmeal scotchie cookies yesterday which totally sabotaged my calorie intake :/

I try to eat a reasonable portion of what I crave. My weakness is chocolate. So I have some dark chocolate without getting excessive. If I try to be hardcore about it, I just end up binging later...

However, I have also noticed that the more I exercise and eat well, the less I crave sweets...

I have to give in to that craving or I'll do just what you said-I'll eat everything else in sight and not be satisfied. If you can just eat a little bit, do it. If you can't stop at just one, then you have to find something to take your mind off it. Somebody posted on here once to do ten pushups every time you get a craving. Eventually, you will associate pushups with that item and not want it anymore!
