summer holiday motivation
The children break up for summer holidays today. I am worried about keeping up with my healthy eating and exercise during the holiday. We aren't going away but, in the past, everything has gone to pot in school holidays, what with getting up later, cinema/bowling/lunches out etc... How do others keep up their motivation in…

Excercising in hot weather
We are currently experiencing the longest spell of hot weather for years in the UK. My question, just out of interest, is, do you burn more calories in the hot weather for the same exercise routine? EG. My 4 mile walk this morning felt harder work in 30 degree heat, but did I use more calories than if I did the same walk…

Fitness NSV
When I was planning which walk I would do this morning, I was astonished to find myself thinking that a 3 1/2 mile walk was too short, and that I would opt for the 5 miles instead!!

Suddenly hungry
I have been doing MFP for 2 and a half months and feel that I have been getting on well. I have lost weight, eat all my calories every day and rarely felt hungry. Only just before my meals. Over the last week I have been feeling really hungry even though I haven't changed my diet, exercise, or anything!! I am hungry within…

Sunday lunch shock!!
I just went out, unexpectedly, to Cafe Rouge for lunch. I avoided anything with cheese, cream or butter, thinking this would push the calorie count up. I chose lamb with mashed potato and green beans followed by Tarte Tatin. When I got home I looked up the calorie count to find the lamb was 1065 cals, and the Tarte was 449…

What happens when you have lost 10lbs
When I entered my last weight loss - 11lbs (yay!! ) MFP asked me if I wanted it to automatically reset my calories etc. I put yes - and nothing happened! Everything stayed the same. Tomorrow I will be weighing again - I only weigh once a month - and know that I have lost more . If I have lost another 10lbs (I…

Nordic walking
I noticed recently that there is a Nordic Walking class held once a week near me. Has anyone done this and what is involved? It advertises itself as burning 20 - 40% more calories than 'normal' walking.

Recording tea and coffee
I drink tea and coffee with skimmed milk. I record every cup I drink - usually about 4 - 5 cups a day, altogether. Looking at other peoples diaries, they don't seem to record it at all. As there are calories in it shouldn't I be recording it?

pain in shin
I have been gradually increasing the amount I am walking. This week I have done 4 walks of about 1 hour, walking about 3.5 miles each time. This morning my right shin was very painful intitially, meaning I had to walk slower. The pain went after 30 mins and the leg felt ok. Does anyone have any idea what happened, if I can…

What is exercise?
I have noticed in the list of excercises provided that it includes things like cooking. Do people really include 131 calories for cooking the tea? What about doing the shopping in the supermarket, or doing a couple of hours ironing? Should I include daily things like this as well as my 3x weekly walks?
