summer holiday motivation

The children break up for summer holidays today. I am worried about keeping up with my healthy eating and exercise during the holiday. We aren't going away but, in the past, everything has gone to pot in school holidays, what with getting up later, cinema/bowling/lunches out etc...

How do others keep up their motivation in the holidays.

Hello, I’ve no advice as such but in the same position. It’s really hard to make healthy choices when you’re out and about and you want to enjoy your time with them without worrying what you’re eating. Unless it’s in a packet you have to try and guess what you’ve eaten calorie wise and look for the closest thing that matches it which could be massively under or over. You’re then left with not many calories for the day and feeling rubbish. Or if you’re like me you decide it’s easier not to track for that day and then you end up eating loads as you don’t have to log it and I seem to eat loads of rubbish all day as my brain says it’s day off day 🙈 we’re going to the cinema tomorrow and it normally involves eating chocolate and sweets and popcorn which I seem to blindly eat while watching the film and before you know you’ve eaten more sweets in one go than you normally eat in a week. I don’t really know what the answer is. You’re sort of out of routine in the holidays and kids love treats and snacks and lunches or dinners out. Part of me thinks they are only young once and tracking food can wait until they are back at school and we are back to our routines. The other part of me thinks if I stop tracking now I will be on a free for all until September 😂 my halfway house at the moment is sticking to the tracking and eating the days I can, putting in cake if I eat cake and not eating any treats rest of day and having some days off where we are our for the day and it’s almost pointless tracking it. Sorry I can’t help, but just wanted to say I know how you feel x
