RUNNERS - Pre-Run Eating
To all seasoned runners out there; I am curious as to what you eat the day prior to a run. Be it a 5K, 10K, Marathon, or whatever....what do you do the day prior to the event to fuel yourself for the next day? How about the morning of the event? Just curious to see what fueling strategies are out there. Thanks

Two NSVs Today
Two things happened today..... 1. I had just completed my warm-up set of deadlifts (135lbs, rapid set of 8 reps) and a guy comes up to me and says "You have to be really strong to do that exercise. Nice job." 2. I crushed my personal record on the deadlift. My previous best was 225lbs, today I lifted 255lbs with an…

Beat My 5K Goal
Yesterday, I wasn't even going to go to the gym. I had been very tired all day, falling asleep at my desk. Somehow, I found myself at the gym anyway. Shin Splints
Shin splints are obviously nature's way of telling me to go back to cycling and stop trying to be a runner. Once upon a time I was a Valet Attendant, and basically ran for a living. I distinctly recall going through shin splints when I began that job, but through constant repitition and a lot of medication I battled…

Weightlifting Goal Met - Early!
A few weeks ago I set a goal, to be met by the end of April, of Deadlifting 225lbs for 1 rep. Well, I did it today! I started with a pretty light 135lbs for 7 reps, went to 175 for 5 reps. I decided to try 205lb for 1 rep, and did it with energy to spare. Sooo, I said 'why not try it and see what happens!' I loaded up the…

Hello from a Semi-New Guy
Hi there, I'm Eric, and I've been here for a while now, although I haven't really utilized the site to its potential. To date I have sporadically logged my food and exercise, with some prodding from my one 'Pal' on the site, Heather; who is the reason I'm here in the first place. I'm not looking to lose weight by any…
