Swimming
Does anyone have some good swimming workouts to share? I have been lap swimming since January and I'm looking for some news workouts. I generally swim 1,200 to 1,500 yards but I am happy to work to increase that. Also, what are some good pacing goals for swimming? I haven't been able to figure out a good goal time for,…

polar transmitter
Does anyone know if you can purchase just a wearlink transmitter at any brick and mortar stores, or will I need to order that component online? Mine needs to be sent off for repair, and I really don't want to be without my HRM for the weeks that it will be gone. I am not thrilled about having to buy a new one, but a backup…

On tap for today
I think I'm going to aim for 6-week 6-pack. I was planning to take a day off, but I need to do this. My core is feeling quite flabby and weak lately! And, I think if I write this down, I'll feel more compelled to do it.

Introductions
Hi everyone! If you have a moment, introduce yourself and let us know your plan for January with Jillian. I'm Holly, and I've done several of Jillian's workouts, including full-month commitments to Shred and Ripped. I think I'm going to do a mix of her videos in January, and will likely include them in my regularly…

Jillian in January
A few of us have decided to kick the new year off with Jillian. We are aiming for a start day of around January 8, but everyone can do whatever they want to do. Just pick a Jillian series (or mix it up), and stick with it (and us!) for 30 days. We're all just looking for support and accountability. I formed a group on the…

Cooking Light Macaroni and Cheese (butternut squash!)
http://www.cookinglight.com/eating-smart/recipe-makeovers/light-macaroni-cheese-00412000072555/ I made this last week for my father's birthday. I still think it's a special occasion meal, because it's still not super healthy, but such a nice reduction in the typical calories of a homemade mac and cheese. Love the butternut…

quinoa and black beans
Made this last night. It was ridiculously good. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quinoa-and-black-beans/detail.aspx I do think the nutritionals are off in the allrecipes database. I plugged it in here, and using what I used (Trader Joe's organic quinoa, Bush's low-sodium black beans), I got 285/serving for 5 servings. REcipe…

Ripped in 30 starting week of August 14 - any takers?
Hi there! Would anyone care to join me as I join Jillian to get Ripped in 30? I just finished the 30 Day Shred yesterday and am looking to give myself another challenge. I found the support of others to be immensely helpful. If you're interested, leave a note here, and we can try to friend each other. Just let the others…

Suggestions from Jillian fans?
Hey there. I've done the Shred, and am closing in on Week 3 of Ripped. I want to have something on the horizon for when I complete Ripped. Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and Shred with Weights both look good to me. Does anyone have a recommendation for a favorite that might be a good choice for after Ripped? I'll eventually…

Low-cal and low-sodium salad dressings
I eat a big salad at least once a day. I rely on bottled dressings for their convenience. However, it seems my favorites are all loaded with sodium. Does anyone have any recommendations that are a little lighter in the sodium department, and still won't kill me with calories? Thanks!

Breathing correctly
I understand that the best way to breathe during exercise is in through the nose, out through the mouth (although in yoga we're in through the nose and out through the nose). I, however, am really struggling to force myself to breathe properly. I find that when my heart rate is up and I'm searching for air, I'm wanting to…

30 Day Shred - additional exercise?
My scale has been stuck for three weeks. Should have gone down for two weeks, and then probably should have gone up this week. But nothing. I'm reevaluating everything, and I've decided to try the 30-day shred. To those of you who have done it, have you simply incorporated it into your current exercise regimen? That was my…

Hi there
Hi everyone. I am Holly and I come to MFP after having lost about 50 pounds and maintained that loss pretty well. I have at least another 50 to go. I had knee surgery in January, and was just released back to normal activity Memorial Day weekend. I have been able to get back into the swing of my workouts without too much…

Interesting story re: calorie counts on menus
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-calorie-count-20110622,0,6750177.story?page=1&track=rss I was surprised by people who are shocked that these restaurant meals are so high-calorie. How can you be oblivious to that? I think it's great that it's going to be in people's faces, or at least my face. I have enjoyed seeing…
