Week 7 - 9/10-9/16
Welcome to the Couch to 5K - Week 7! This week, you can say good bye to those annoying intervals. From here on out you're set loose to just get out there and run - isn't it amazing? 6 weeks ago, could you have imagined being able to run for 20 minutes at a stretch? It may not be easy yet - but you're doing it! The end is…

Life after the C25K?
Today was Week 7 Day 2 of the C25K for me - I have a 5K on Thursday so I changed up the route day 1 and day 2 to be a full 5K distance so it wouldn't smack me upside the head on thursday when it was longer than I was used to. What I've been doing is run 25 (this that's the scheduled workout this week - run 25m with no…

Week 6 - 9/3-9/9
Welcome to week 6 of the Couch to 5K! Look how far you've come - after you complete this week, you'll be done with 2/3 of the program and will have no more intervals to run. Next week and beyond you can look forward to nothing but long runs! (Well, well, what have we here? -stares at you- Looks like we've got a runner on…

Anyone have trouble with W6 D2?
I bonked D2 of week 6 today. I think it's more that I shouldn't have tried to eat yesterday - my daughter's first day of school ever was today and I was emotional, my head wasn't in the game, I really didn't eat much last night because I was emotional...so I think that's more the culprit than the run itself, but I did my…

Question for runners
I've been doing the C25K and just finished W6, so no more intervals for me - yay! I can't say I love running yet but I definitely don't hate it, which 6 weeks ago I would not have said. Each workout includes a 5min walking warm up. Do I do that forever? What kind of warmups do y'all do? I've been waking up at 5am to roll…

Week 4 - 8/20-8/26
Welcome to Week 4 of the Couch to 5K! You're well on your way to running a 5K, so this week, let's kick it up a notch and beat our previous record of 3minutes of jogging. This week, you'll keep those 3 minute intervals but add a few 5minute ones. It may sound intimidating, but you have been slowly building up your…

Week 5 - 8/27-9/2
Welcome to Week 5 of the Couch to 5K! Take a deep breath and congratulate yourself for making it this far - this marks the midway point of the training program, and that is an achievement in and of itself. Give yourself a moment to take stock of your emotions - if you're not proud of how far you've come, you should be.…

NSV. Today, I am a runner :)
I have been doing the Couch to 5K program. 5 weeks ago, by the end of my 1 minute runs, I was out of breath. My podcast said I shouldn't be and I always laughed, because I was. I knew in the back of my head w5 d3, a 20 minute run, was coming, but I laughed. In high school, I walked instead of ran. I tried running randomly…

Welcome and Introductions
Welcome to the C25K! This is my first time going through it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Feel free to post an introduction here - I'll get us started. I'm Heather, age 28. I'm aiming to run my first 5k on 9/23 at the Brookfield Zoo in their Zoorunrun. I never thought running was for me, but my husband challenged me…

Week 3 - 8/13-8/19
Welcome to week 3 of the Couch to 5K! We've taken baby steps so far, but this week we're going to ramp up the intensity a little bit - we have two 3 minute runs to do in each workout this week. If that sounds intimidating, that's okay - but don't let that stop you. You have the strength and endurance to do this - so go…

Weird question - protein powder in hot water?
So I've been experimenting with protein powder - Pure Protein from Target. In milk it's great, tastes like rich chocolate milk - same in almond milk. In cold water is was blech! But the taste reminded me of hot chocolate that's gone cold (instant mix in water) - and it got me thinking...if I mixed it in with hot water, I…

Fell while running - when can I run again?
I am sure I can't be the first person to ask this but I can't figure out what search terms to use. I've been doing the c25k and on Friday night I wiped out at the end of my fifth interval (of six). At that time I knew I'd abraded my palms and knees but I wasn't worried - it was dark out so I couldn't see too many details…

Week 2 - 8/6-8/12
Welcome to the second week of the Couch to 5K - congratulations on making it through Week 1! To some of us it was easy, to some of it was hard, and to some of us it was -just- right. Wherever you fell along the spectrum - whether you were the fastest or the slowest - take a minute to congratulate yourself on just getting…

C25K group starting July 30
I'll be starting the C25K on July 30 and have started a group for anyone else who wants to do it - I figured us non-runners can support each other this way as we figure this out. Feel free to post if you'd like an invite.

Week 1 - 7/30-8/5
Welcome to Week 1 of the C25K! We're all new to this, but everyone starts somewhere and I know we can do it. This week, the work out is: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. You'll need to do this 3 times this week, so find a schedule that…

For those like me who can't download an app..
...I tried downloading an app but my phone didn't like it unfortunately, which made me sad. But if you look in iTunes there are some free podcasts - you can't pick the music like you could with an app but it comes with the prompts so you don't have to run with a stopwatch :)

HRM versus MapMyRun versus MFP - cals burned
Okay, so - I did day 1 of the C25K yesterday. It was 30 minutes, 5 minute warmup then 1 minute of running followed by 90 seconds of walking (repeat x8) then 5 minutes of cool down. I cover 2miles in the first 25 minutes - didn't do any distance after that because I had gotten home so I walked around my block for a cool…

Training Schedule
I will be using the official CoolRunning C25K training schedule, found here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml To sum: Week 1 - 7/30 through 8/5: Workout: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. This workout should be done 3x…

If you're under-calorie for the day but...
...can't find a snack that won't blow your macros, do you choose to just forget the macros (adhering as best you can of course) & get the calories in, or just stop eating for the day? I'm still trying to work out the kinks in my diet. I am finding that my diet is about 30% carbs, 25% proteins, and 45% fats. I'm trying to…

Question about TDEE calculators
Mmmkay, so I've been calorie counting and exercising for a month. (I realize that is not a long time, but I figured it was a good enough period of time to see if my calorie level is the right one for me.) In a month, I've lost a pound. I tend to net around 1500ish calories; I measure and weigh my food so I think that's…

Macro confusion
I have been trying to figure this out but I am confused how mfp generates my macro numbers. I had wanted a 40/30/30 split - with fat and protein both at 30, shouldn't my goal for each of them be the same if the percentage is the same? When I do 40/30/30 I get goals of 145, 109 protein, and 48g fat. I guess I am wondering…

Sushi suggestions, please?
My husband just told me he's taking me out for a surprise date tonight, out for sushi! I do like sushi but I have had it maybe a handful of times. I did do a search but the problem is that since I am not familiar with sushi I don't really know what I'm looking at - the only thing I know for sure is I like spicy tuna rolls…

It's official, I think I'm obsessed.
So last night, I had a nightmare that I had a treat and forgot to log it, so my calories were going to be all screwed up and inaccurate. When I woke up I had to run to check my log from yesterday x) Am I the only one? Lol. (And for the record, I had indeed logged my treat.)

So confused about bmr and what my calorie goal /should/ be
All right, over the past week I have been perusing the forums and trying to research this. I am done being fat but in no way wish to crash diet and plunge to end up yo-yoing; I want real weight loss by eating better and exercising more. Please forgive me about another thread on this as I realize to seasoned vets it's been…

Hello! :)
Hi, I'm Heather! 28 and 5'3", work-at-home mother of one and married to my best friend and love of my life. I am pretty new here, been using the site for about a week and loving it. I was tracking my cals in a spreadsheet before but my friend turned me onto mfp and I love it. To explain why I'm here, I went in for an…
