Macro confusion

I have been trying to figure this out but I am confused how mfp generates my macro numbers. I had wanted a 40/30/30 split - with fat and protein both at 30, shouldn't my goal for each of them be the same if the percentage is the same? When I do 40/30/30 I get goals of 145, 109 protein, and 48g fat. I guess I am wondering why the percentage is twice the protein g than fat g and trying to figure out why since it seems like carbs/protein are at least comparable.
(Please forgive me if this is a stupid question - before coming to mfp I thought about macros oh...never)

Fat is 9 calories/gram, while protein and carbs are 4/g.
Alcohol is 7cals/g(basically a 2 carbon fat for the body).0 -
Oh! Well that makes total sense. Thank you!
Edit: Oh, and I really don't do much alcohol - maybe a drink every couple months - but thank you, that's interesting to know too0
