Frustrated with fluctuations
I weighed myself last week-I was sooo happy to see 125 on the scale. (I'm 5ft1). Weighed myself this AM-and I saw 128! I know it's only three lbs difference, but I am so confused and upset as to why. I thought I'd at least be maintaining, I had a good workout last night, ate decent food with a light dinner. I know weight…

Recipes for low-fat buttermilk?
I baked a carrot cake for my father's birthday and the recipe called for low fat buttermilk (in place of the oil). However, it called for 1/2 cup of the milk and my grocery store only sold it in quarts, so now I have all this buttermilk that I don't know what to do with. Any ideas/recipes?

exercise music
I found one site that offers free mp3 downloads called stead130.com. They have mp3s of remixed songs at 130bmp or faster. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other websites that offer free downloads? I have a very tight budget, but I also don't want to end up dowloading a virus or something. Anyone know of anything…

strength training
I recently joined a gym and have been spending alot of time doing cardio-kickboxing, cycling, stair climber... However, I notice that I spend so much time doing cardio that I am neglecting strength training, which I know is important because muscle helps look toned and burns more calories than fat. I was using Jari Love…

5 days a week?
I have been exercising five days a week. Or actually, when you lay it out, it is usually three days on, one day off. I usually do no less than 45 minutes of cardio, whether it be kickboxing, step aerobics, stairclimber, treadmill....and then I'll do anywhere btw 15-30 minutes of strength training. I alternate upper…

looking for bosu ball exercises
i tried searching the boards for bosu ball exercises but all I found were squats or people raving about the bosu ball, so I thought I'd try a new post. I am looking for recommendations on exercises I can do on a bosu ball. Yesterday I thought I'd give it a try and did squats and lunges on it without any weights, and I…

sneakers
I don't know if you guys can help, give me direction/guidance. I dislike my current sneakers that I wear to the gym. Sometimes they are fine, other times either my foot aches and I have to stop, or I get a wicked blister. They are reebok something...I have never paid attention before but I do know that they are…

spinning leg pain
So I went to spinning/cycling class last night, and even though I've been attending about twice a week for weeks now, my legs hurt so badly I stopped after 15 minutes. However, I was able to do cardio on the stair climber just fine. do you think I just put too much on myself without rest? I worked out four days in a row,…

10,000 steps a day!I
I recently got a fitbit, and I have been finding that it is hard to get 10,000 steps a day unless it's a day I am exercising. I have an office job, and I guess I overestimated how much time I spend walking from office to office, front desk etc. I get about 5000 steps on non-gym days. Any suggestions on ways people are…

turbo kick classes
I am struggling with a debate here. I was thinking about going to a turbo kick class at my gym tonight, but in some write-ups I read that it combines kickboxing with dance. I am not a dancer, I prefer athletic cardio moves to anything that involves hip shaking or gyrating. I loath classes like Zumba or Jazzercise. I do…

target heart rate
I have a Fitbit on backorder, so until then I am stuck relying on the heart rate monitor on the cardio machines at the gym. yesterday on the stair climber it said my heart rate was up to 170 at one point, which I guess according to that formula is only a little below my max heart rate of 189 (220-age). Are those things…

cardio? am I doing it right?
I hope I can explain this... I have been worried that I have not been making any progress with my cardio. I do step aerobics and kickboxing for my cardio, and I alternate it with strength days like Jari. When I say I am not making any progress, I mean that I have been doing KCM's cardio blast premixes, KCM kickboxing, and…

too much protein?
I only know the basics of nutrition, but I always thought protein would be better than fat/carbs, especially when I'm weight training etc. However, I've been filling out the food journal on here for a week and I am in the red for protein every day! What does this mean? What implications might I expect from a diet that's…

motivation to work out
I really struggle to exercise more than four days a week. I tell myself I will exercise when I get out of work, and then by the time the end of the work day has arrived I feel tired and tell myself "wake up early tomarrow morning instead". So I convince myself that it's a good idea, and I'll wake up early to work out. Of…

newbie
Hello all, I stumbled on this site yesterday while googling calorie counters and I am so glad that I did! I lost 15 lbs over the last year and have 15 more to go. Kinda stuck at 140lbs right now so I'm really trying to buckle down on my diet, making healthier choices and watching my serving sizes. Glad to be here!
