Calculator in the kitchen.
Sometimes when I'm rushed and I don't have time to scan packages with my phone or go to my computer, I have a calculator on my kitchen counter and I just keep a tally of the calories that I'm eating for that meal. It's especially helpfull if I'm eating a meal with more than a few ingredients, like a salad, or a sandwich.…

I almost feel like the food database is too big.
I've been trying to get back on board. I've been a member for a couple of years and the database was very good, but now I notice when I search for a particular thing in the food database, many many things come up for one item and many of them or wrong. I find this very frustrating and time consuming when I'm searching for…

Finding overweight people sexy...
I'm gay but this conversation isn't really orientation specific. I am so attracted to chubby people. I find guys and girls more attractive when they have some weight on them. I think guys are very sexy when they're chubby. Which is kind of ironic because even though I've lost a bunch of weight I feel like I'm less…

WEIGHT GAIN DUE TO MEDICATIONS
I recently got an unbelievable case of poison ivy and poison sumac. Needless to say I ended up at the Dr's office who gave me a prescription for Prednisone. One of the side effects (among many) is bloating. In 5 days I gained 20 pounds. Obviously not fat, I guess water weight. The pills made me sick and I got off of them,…

HOW DO I UTILIZE BMR?
Now that I'm at goal, I'm trying to figure out how to properly maintain it. If I change my weight loss to 0 (maintenance) it says I should be taking in 2090 calories which seems high. My BMR reading is 1671. Should I be using that as a calorie goal? What do you all who got to your goal use as a maintenance calorie goal?

HAS ANYONE REACHED THEIR GOAL AND INCREASED CALORIES TO MAIN
Here's the deal. I recently hit my goal which I've very happy about. Over the past few weeks I've been slowly increasing my calories to maintenance level which is about 2000 calories a day. It seems like I'm slowly gaining very slight increments of weight. My fitness pals that reached your goal, how are you maintaining?…

PEOPLE SUCK. NEAR GOAL EXPERIENCES.
I'm almost at my goal and in the best shape I've ever been in my life. I find it so annoying that people a year ago that were rude or didn't pay any attention to me when I was fat and very out of shape, suddenly want to talk to you and be social. I remember a year ago when I started trying to jog, I would get crazy looks…

SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS.
I've been reading a lot of negative stuff about artificial sweeteners. A little bit about me: I've been heavy most of my adult life. I used a LOT of splenda in everything from coffee, to cereal, soda, and lots and lots of chewing gum. I've had knee problems and artheritis type pain in my hands for years. Nobody could…

SHOULD YOU CHANGE YOUR CALORIE GOAL AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT O
My profile has been set to 2 pound loss, 1200 calories for quite a while. I'm really struggling with this last 10 pounds so I just changed it too 1.5 pound loss which increased my calories to 1360 to see if that makes a difference. Do you think being on a 1200 net calorie goal for too long may not be a good idea or it…

HOW DO YOU EXERCISE WHEN IT GETS COLD?
It's possible I may have to move from sunny Florida back to New Jersey. The last time I lived there I wasn't really exercising so I never thought about it. Now, I'm used to exercising year round outdoors. Other than the gym, what do you guys do to get enough exercise in the winter? Especially when gyms usually only allow…

DID DIET SODA CAUSE MY RECENT PLATEAU?
I recently came off a 3 week plateau. I eat very healthy, so there isn't a whole lot I could change when I hit a plateau. I rarely go over my calories, I exercise regularly. After the second week, I was analyzing my diet and realized I was drinking a LOT of diet coke. So after the second week, I stopped drinking soda to…

HOW LONG DID YOUR PLATEAU LAST?
I know I need to be patient, but I'm going on 3 weeks and only about 10 pounds from my goal. I've changed some stuff around so I'm confident it will change soon. I've had other plateaus and they lasted like a week or two. This one is longer, which I kind of expected because after looking around online, I see what your body…

Diet soda has no calories, but can't be good for you, right?
I drink way too much and was wondering what you guys thought about the long or short term effects.

Have you experienced rude comments during/after weight loss?
One thing I definitely wasn't prepared for during my healthier lifestyle journey, was the unbelievably rude comments. One person asked me if I'm losing weight because I'm sick with something, another person asked if I "meant" to lose weight. My co-worker told me I've lost way too much and my face is sunken in. I mean,…

MY KNEES HURT FOR NO REASON
I used to think my knees hurt all the time because I was heavy, 50 pounds less and almost to my goal and they are worse than ever. I don't do much high impact exercise, mostly power walking, bike riding, yoga. I take a multivitamin, so I'm hoping I'm not deficient in something. It doesn't feel like bones, it feels like…

Watch out for sneaky sugar.
I've lost about 50 pounds and have recently gotten stuck, even though I've kept my calories in check and exercise regularly. I started looking at my numbers more closely and realized I go over my "sugar" every day. The mobile version of MFP automatically lists sugar, but on the web version you have to manually select it to…

Just gained 6 pounds!
I lost about 50 pounds, kind of fell of the wagon for a couple days, but only missed one day of exercise. I got on the scale today and gained 6 pounds, can't believe it! How is that possible? Ok, so say you go over your calories one day, say you had a 2000 calorie day for example. How long does it take to reverse the…

Any ideas to replace salt as a seasoning?
I like my food really salty. Unfortunately, I'm getting to the age where I really need to control that. I'm doing good counting my calories and exercising, but I'm just not enjoying food as much without seasoned salt, garlic salt, soy sauce, etc. I tried Mrs. Dash but it's just not doing it for me. Any ideas?
