Guacamole???
I usually make mine with avocado, garlic, lemon juice, red onion, a smidge of red pepper (if I have any) and sometimes sour cream. How do you make yours? I have an abundance of avocado's right now so I'm looking to mix it up a bit. Thanks! :) :flowerforyou:

Goes with ham?
What's a good healthy side for ham? My friend and I are having dinner tomorrow night and she’s bringing a baked ham and I'm making the side dish. I hardly ever eat ham, so I need some advice on what dish to prepare? Normally I would make scalloped potatoes, however I doubt the calorie count is very reasonable in that…

Best Turkey Bacon (w/ pics)
I discovered Lilydale Daystarters a few years ago and haven't gone back to regular bacon or other brands of turkey bacon since. This brand tastes like a real slice of meat (as it should), as opposed to the bologna style that the other brands of turkey bacon I have encountered usually resemble. Not only are they delicious,…

Dr. Jekyll vs Mr. Hyde Eating Habits
During the day I am Dr. Jekyll (aka good)... i.e. I am living the perfect healthy lifestyle. I am awesome at making healthy food choices and excercising during the day. My motivation is extrememly high, and I always feel satisfied and good with what I eat. At night time however, Mr. Hyde (bad) rears his ugly head and I am…

Marinated?
How do you account for calories of something that has been marinated? i.e., for dinner this evening my husband marinated some chicken breasts in Italian dressing. He used a lot of dressing but of course we throw out the marinate afterwards. Thoughts?

Steel Cut Oats
This isn't a recipe but it seemed like the right spot to post it. I'm a HUGE fan of steel cut oats, and make them all the time for breakfast (One of my favorite recipes using steel cut oats ---> http://jdelisle42.blogspot.com/2011/01/apple-pie-breakfast.html) Yesterday I came across a website that suggested toasting the…

I love to cook and try new things, and all of my friends and family are constantly asking me for my recipes. Because of this, I recently started a new healthy food blog. 100 calorie oatmeal toppings
I love Cooking Light, and I love oatmeal. They had a good post today so I thought I would share. I think they might be a bit off on some of their calories (2 tbsp apples?), but good ideas nontheless! http://www.cookinglight.com/eating-smart/smart-choices/100-calorie-oatmeal-toppings-00412000069619/

Homemade Yogurt?
I recently saw a homemade yogurt making set at my local hardware store. Upon further research I noted that other main retailers carry it as well. Has anyone had experience making their own yogurt? If so, how did it go?

Homemade Bread?
I recently aquired a breadmaker and was wondering if anyone had any recipes they would like to share? Currently I use my Gramma's recipe, and it is YUMMY... but comes in at 151 calories a slice. I'm wondering if anyone has some lower calorie alternatives? Non-breadmaker recipes are welcome as well. I don't really care for…

Good Calories VS Bad Calories
So I was talking to my co-worker this morning and we got into quite a heated debate. In a nutshell, she said to me that there is no such thing as good calories vs bad calories. She went on to explain that if you ate only chocolate all day, and hit 1,000 calories (don't even get me started on how low that is) that it would…

Overnight Apple Pie Slow Cooker Breakfast
I copied & pasted the actual recipe below, however I think that 2 apples is too few, next time I will probably try it with 4. I cooked mine for 5-6 hours, not 4 (how unrealistic for an 'overnight' recipe?) and it turned out great! This recipe made LOTS yesterday so I threw it in the fridge and it tasted awesome re-heated…

2 ingredient Brownies
Okay, I'm sure this has been posted before, but I just tried it and it worked great! 1 box low fat/cal brownie mix 2 cups pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling). The result? 12 - 100 calorie brownies. Yum. You can tell they aren't the real thing, but they are a great placebo!

Favorite Healthy Snack
What is your favorite healthy snack? Mine is a sliced apple dipped in 1 tbsp peanut butter. Its around 150 calories (depending on the kind of apple/peanut butter)... Sounds like a lot for a snack but it's super tasty and really fills me up! Whats yours? Would love some new ideas to keep it fresh :)

Easy, quick breakfast beverage
I'm one of those people that is so busy I never remember to eat at proper times. This is great in the morning because it literally takes 2 minutes to throw together. Throw into the blender (I use a magic bullet): 1 peeled ripe mango 1/4 cup apple juice This is so awesome. I pretty much make this with any kind of fruit and…
