Stress fracture in heel
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this or any stress fracture. I'm on week eight of no running. Although it has gotten better, it's not healed. Due to insurance issues(long story), I get to see the dr for the first time tomorrow. I'm 99% sure of the diagnosis and will of course follow his instructions. Walking…

Ran my first half, now what?
Looking for some advice. I ran my first this past Sunday! It went great and I finished in 2 hours and 17 minutes. I have just signed up for the Mississippi Blues Half which is in 6 weeks and will likely do one Feb 8th, March 8th, and April 27th. My goal is to again be able to run the whole thing at about the same time. If…

How do you run a 5k race?
I mean, if you are really trying to beat your fastest time and set a new PR? Of course, there are the obvious tips like skip the water stops... Don't start at the back with the walkers. I've read somewhere about starting off fast but then I've read in other places about "leaving some in the tank" to finish. However, with a…

advice re my training
I'm posting this here as I know I will get a lot of good input. I have searched and read threads about this but was hoping for some more specific advice. History: I'm 37 years old. After loosely following the C25k program, I did my first 5k on August 10th and ran it in 32:08. Since then I have PRed at 27:30 and have been…

DAILY CHECK IN-OCTOBER 19TH
Call me crazy because after my 5k last night, I got up this am when my husband got up(to go out of town) and decided to do another 5k. It was a memorial 5k for a teacher who was beaten to death by her husband. Funds raised went towards organizations that aid in the prevention of Domestic Violence. So it was a great cause.…

DAILY CHECK IN-October 18th
Well today is race day! I'm a doing a 5k tonight. So, no training run today and no exercise class. I'll report back late tonight or tomorrow. Sorry to read about those with inuries,etc... preventing you from running. When I hurt my foot last week, I was so worried about the extent and whether I could run or not.

DAILY CHECK IN-October 15th
I'm excited to do my training run in daylight in town today since I'm off. My city built a 2.75 mile(5.5 mile out and back) bypass in town and besides helping with traffic, a lot of people use it for running. There are wide sidewalks, an overpass that provides incline, and enough traffic at the time I'm running so I'll…

Daily Check in-October 16th
I did my 5.5 miles yesterday. Very smooth run and really enjoyed the change of scenery and terrain. I planned on doing the same this morning but its raining. Now, I do run in the rain and have been known to run in the snow when I have to(meaning before work). However, to protect my electronics(even though I put them in…

DAILY CHECK IN-October 14th
Ran 5 miles this morning. My foot is basically pain free... There is just enough feeling for me to be able to tell which foot it was. I was very careful this morning to not step off of the road. I'm thinking I'm going to try and run 3 times a week in addition to running a 5k most every weekend. I was running up to two 5ks…
