Bulk and cut question
I've been lifting heavy and bulking for about two months, and I've seen some awesome muscle growth, but I'm also seeing some increase in fat as well. I understand the concept of bulking; that you need to eat more calories to fuel muscle growth. That part's easy. And I understand that with the weight gain, some of it is…

Question for men who lift
I noticed a guy struggling with his bench press yesterday. He looked like a beginner, because he was lifting less than I do(I'm still pretty much a beginner myself; been lifting for two months). I almost asked him if he wanted a spotter, but changed my mind at the last second. I thought he would feel insulted, having a…

Pre-workout supplements
Can anyone recommend a good pre-workout supplement that doesn't have fake sugar? Aspartame and sucralose make me feel like crap, so if I'm going to use a pre-workout product it needs to have real sugar or stevia instead of fake sugar.

Question for other lifters
I've been lifting for about a month and a half, and now that I'm deadlifting more than my own weight, I've got blisters on my calluses. So I was thinking of getting some lifting gloves. But first I wanted to get the opinions of some other lifters who've been at it longer than I have. Is it better to use gloves, or not use…

Bodyfat and weight
Hi y'all. I'm looking for advice about revising my weight goals. First of all, I'm 33, 5"2', 147 pounds. I started losing weight just over a year ago(yeah, I was a "resolutioner"). I was 180 when I started, and now that I'm getting close to the "healthy" BMI range, I decided to change my goals. I went from 1300 net…

Question regarding protein
I've recently started lifting heavy, and I read that on days I lift, I should take in 1g of protein per pound of body weight. Then I read somewhere else that it was 1g per pound of lean body mass. Naturally, those two numbers are not the same. So which one is it? Body weight is 147; LBM is 115. Thanks in advance for your…

Metabolism question
I have lost about 30 pounds this year so far, but I hit a plateau in June. I'm still working on breaking through it; I still have 30 I want to lose. Suddenly (as in this week), I'm constantly starving. No matter what I eat, I'm hungry again within an hour. High fat, low fat, carbs, protein... it doesn't matter. Even if I…

No longer overweight!
Hoping these photos show up... At the beginning of this year, I was obese... I've lost 31 pounds since then, through lots of exercise and healthy eating. I calculated my bmi again the other day, and I'm in the "normal" category again! I still have a long way to go to get to my goal, but I wanted to share that milestone.…

Other eating plans
Background: I started dieting(old-fashioned eat-less-exercise-more plan) in January, and lost 13 pounds before joining MFP in February. Then I lost another 12 pounds over the next three months while counting calories. Then I went on vacation for two weeks, and ate a bunch of fast food, and drank wine, and didn't count a…
