Weight training at home help please
If I wanted to be more serious about weight training, could someone recommend a list or site as to what all you would need to start your own home gym? Right now I only have 3, 5, 10, and 20 lbs dumbells. I'm assuming I need a bench with a bar and weights? Any recommendations? I really don't want to go broke doing it…

Starting Phase 3 - 2 Month Progress Pic
I am disappointed I have not lost any scale weight, but it's my own fault, I am not following the diet plan perfectly and have a few drinks on the weekends. So I am still at 135lbs. I am 5'2 and 35 yrs old. But I'm glad I am taking pictures - I have lost inches and 3% body fat. And I can almost see my stomach muscles. Bye…

My NSV for today :)
I'm 35, 5'2, currently 135, pre baby I was 125. This morning I got my pre-baby jeans on and buttoned! They're definitely tight, but a few months ago I couldn't hardly get them up over my fat *kitten* lol. Still haven't lost 1 pound of scale weight but I must be losing fat!

Stuck at same weight for 6 months :(
So I am 35, 5'2, and for years was able to maintain my weight very well at 125lbs. Then I had a baby 15 months ago, and while most of the weight came off fairly easily, the last 10 lbs have been super stubborn. I have been stuck at 135lbs for at least 6 months. 3 months ago I joined MFP, started working out. Then I started…

Anyone having a rough time with pushups?
I am on week 7 and I still can only do about 5 military pushups, let alone do them on one leg or bring a leg up to my elbow. Do I need to stay on workouts 7 & 8 a few extra weeks? I can handle plank moves, but pushups just kill me.

Why do I keep pulling muscles?
I haven't had any problems up until this week with pulled/strained muscles. Tuesday, I started working out and my left glute starting hurting enough so that I couldn't do lunges. Then I was doing an ab exercise and I felt my left side ab muscle start spasming. I drank lots of water and yesterday they were better. Now today…

Fitbit question
So if I bought this and wore it for 24hrs (and with my daily exercise), it will accurately tell me my TDEE?

Tips on controlling HR with running.
I have my first 5k on Friday. I have been running twice a week for over a month. Last week I completed 2.5 miles without stopping to walk, but I only quit after the 2.5 miles was because my HR was getting too high - in the mid 170's. I feel like I could totally run the full 5k if my HR wouldn't get so high. Is this an…

Injuries or Strains - help
I must have overworked myself yesterday because today, I started working out and right away my left glute started hurting. Then later into my workout I felt a left side stomach muscle start to spasm. So, what's the best way to heal these? Just stretching? I do take a whey protein shake after my daily workout.

Question regarding building muscle - losing fat
Not to beat a dead horse - but many people on here have told me that you cannot build muscle at a calorie deficit. If that is indeed true, how is it that over the past 2 months I have stayed the same weight, been strength training 4 times per week and running twice per week while eating my TDEE-20%. I have lost a total of…

How much should I worry about heart rate?
I have an FT4 HRM. According to my age (35), my max heart rate is 185. My current RHR is 59. I started running a month ago, and my HR usually jumps to the 150-160 range, where is sustains for the first mile or so, seems like the 2nd mile it climbs to the 170's. My question is, right now I get a little concerned when I see…

Getting accurate body fat readings?
How or where can you go to get accurate readings? Will gyms like Anytime Fitness test you? We're using a body fat caliper but it seems hard to get accurate readings if you don't measure the exact same spot each month. I also have a body fat scale but that seems to always show the same number and I hear it's not very…

Anyone quit logging food and lose weight?
I am thinking about not logging food anymore on here. I workout 6 times a week and I have actually gained 2 lbs since starting MFP 3 months ago. Last time I lost a couple pounds was January and I wasn't actively trying. I think I'm obsessing about every calorie and I'm either not eating enough or eating too much. I have no…

Asics shoes....help please.
Beginner runner here in need of some suggestions for shoes. I'm pretty partial to Asics but I'm open to other brands. I live in a small town and am 4 hours away from any specialty running store. I have a normal to higher arch and a normal width foot. And I'm pretty neutral with pronation. I also strike the ground more on…

Crock Pot Beef Roast
Easiest dinner ever - it's in my crockpot right now. Buy a nice size chuck roast. Add to crock pot. Top with 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup. Don't add any water. Cook on low for about 7 hours or 4 hours on high. Soup turns into gravy which is perfect on some mashed potatoes. YUM.

How much $ have you invested in weight loss?
I was just thinking about how much I've invested so far in my quest to get in shape. After purchasing Body Revolution, new shoes, a HRM, weights, resistance cables, workout clothes, protein powder, etc, etc.....I think I'm at about $500 over the past 3 months. Granted most of it is one time purchases, but I think it's been…

How much protein to build muscle?
Please clarify! To build muscle, should you be eating 1g for every pound of total body weight or 1g every pound of lean mass? I am 5'2, 134lbs. Doing strength training 4 times per week and doing cardio 5 times per week. Trying to lose fat and gain muscle and drop the scale weight about 9 more pounds.

My NSV - running
I've never been a runner, I used to despise it or make fun of it. On top of that, I was also a smoker, so running wasn't optional. Well, now at 34 years old (and smoke free!) as part of my workout plan, I have decided I just need to get out and do it. I've only been out 3 times so far, but each time I can run farther…

Gained weight, but lost fat!
Just a little motivation for the many of us that have been working out, yet not seeing any drop in weight on the scale. I would suggest everyone buy a body fat caliper or have it professionally checked once a month. I know I will be doing it monthly from now on. Below is a calculation I found in the caliper handbook.…

NSV - Body Fat :)
So even though I gained 2 pounds and am currently back at my starting weight of 135, I have lost 1.3% body fat since March 1st. The majority of it being off my back and stomach area (we use a caliper). Body fat was 30.8% and is down to 29.5%. Seems like my goal of 25% by summer might actually be attainable!

Cutting out wheat = weight loss?
I have failed to lose any weight for the past 2 months of being on MFP, even with logging calories and working out 5 times a week. I constantly fluctuate between 132-135 lbs. This week I have decided to give up splenda and sugar, and now contemplating going gluten free for a while. Has this worked for anyone to jump start…

What movie should we go see this weekend?
Date nights are few and far between with a 1yr old, but Grandma's taking her so it's dinner and a movie. Looking at going to see Identity Thief. Good, bad, or would you suggest something else?

What to do on an off day?
I have started working with a 15lbs kettlebell. I did 25 minutes Tues and yesterday. By yesterday afternoon, my whole body was sore and I was so tired, I went to bed at 8pm. Well, I figure I need to take a day off today and let my muscles repair. But it doesn't feel right to not exercise at all. Should I do my elliptical…
