Experts suggesting core-training a waste of time!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2316857/Why-sit-ups-bad-body-wobbly-gym-ball-wont-help-either.html Comments anyone? I've certainly found core-training to be of help.

My little NSVs
I haven't seen my bloke for about 10 weeks before this visit and, on my first night here, we were watching a film and I was draped over him as usual. He then said "I can tell you've lost weight because the last time I saw you and you were lying across my lap, my legs went dead after about 20 minutes, this time it's take…

A Small Success
Although I've only lost 5lbs, I've done the BMI calculation and I no longer obese, I'm just overweight. I know I've a long way to go yet but this has made me so happy

Extra Exercise
I've been a lazy lump for so long that I forgot how much I enjoy moving around, so I've started to move more. I do strength exercises with 4kg dumbbells and will soon be going heavier, I ride my bike, go out walking and if it's raining I'll shove in an exercise dvd, dance around to some fast music or get on my stationary…

I don't hurt - what is going on?
I've been exercising for a couple of weeks now and, I will confess, I'm extremely unfit. I've been on my bike or lifting dumbbells (2kg - 4kg depending on exercise) until I can't carry on, I've also started with squats and can manage to do about 15 before my legs give way and they tremble for ages afterwards. I feel a…

Dumbbells
I've been given a set of dumbbells which are 10 kg each (bar weighs 2 kg and then there are 2 x 2 kg weights and 4 x 1kg weights). I cannot afford gym membership at the moment but I want to start lifting and don't know where to start. I use them at 2 kg when I'm doing 30 day shred but want to use them heavier. Can anyone…

Squats and knee pain (yet another thread)
I've been trying to lose weight for a couple of weeks after a routine blood test scared me half to death. Today I had to go for a check-up with a new doctor. She was asking me about my goals and when would I consider myself to be fit and healthy. Off the top of my head I said that I'd be happy when I could easily do squats…

Bare feet & sore knees
I've just started exercising gently - with the wii fit plus, but I'm about to start doing more. I'm hoping to have some kettlebells at home and also use some dvds for jumping around to. I have knees that really hurt sometimes, which I put down to when I did a lot of sport at school (many years ago) and we had to do it in…

Anyone in Wigan/Leigh/Bolton
Is there anyone in my local area who fancies meeting up for walks or cycle rides? Would be great if there was, especially if you have kids as I would have to bring my 10 year old son along with me.

Hello from a noob :)
I'd always been pretty fit and active until about 10 years ago when I had my son, I also ended up looking after my 2 elderly parents and a disabled husband. Ten years later, with both my parents deceased and my marriage over and I'm in a pretty bad way health/fitness wise. I've been both mentally and physically tired, so…
