I don't hurt - what is going on?

I've been exercising for a couple of weeks now and, I will confess, I'm extremely unfit. I've been on my bike or lifting dumbbells (2kg - 4kg depending on exercise) until I can't carry on, I've also started with squats and can manage to do about 15 before my legs give way and they tremble for ages afterwards. I feel a tingle in my muscles (which is actually a very pleasant feeling), however the day after I don't have any of the muscle ache I'm expecting. This is very perplexing as I'm pushing myself as hard as I can, only last night I felt sick after going hell for leather on my bike. Before my guests arrived on Friday I was a week into 30 day shred, which always left me a quivering wreck on the floor but the day after I was fine.
I know I should be grateful that I'm not in agony but I'm wondering if this means that the exercise isn't doing any good. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I know for certain that there isn't a fit person hiding under all this blubber.

Many of us stop getting DOMS after a while. It's perfectly normal and has nothing to do with whether your exercise program is effective. I will, on occasion, get a little sore from doing significantly more than normal but that is about it.0

Fatiguing your muscles with a lot of reps and smaller weights won't produce the muscle soreness (and strength improvements) that will result from muscle overloading, using higher weights and lower reps.0

I'll try going heavier but I'm only just managing 3 lots of 8 reps with 6 kg (not 4) and I'm starting to lose form before the end. I thought the heaviest I was using was 4 kg but I hadn't taken into account that each dumbbell bar weights 2 kg :blushing:0
