Squats and knee pain (yet another thread)

I've been trying to lose weight for a couple of weeks after a routine blood test scared me half to death. Today I had to go for a check-up with a new doctor. She was asking me about my goals and when would I consider myself to be fit and healthy. Off the top of my head I said that I'd be happy when I could easily do squats with 20kg weight. She said that it was a good goal to aim at. I then told her that I could not do squats because of knee pain - which I've had intermittently for the last 20+ years. She then studied my records, as I've seen specialists for my knees but they're not considered anywhere near bad enough to have them replaced. She then told me that as well as being a GP (general practitioner) she was also qualified in sports injuries. She then asked me to do a squat and looked quite concerned when I couldn't stand back up and ended up on the floor wailing like a baby. She said my posture was perfect and asked me to do another one but this time to turn my toes and knees in tiny bit. I tried again and couldn't believe that I could do it with hardly any pain at all. She then went into lots of medical terms about the damage in my knees but said that if I keep doing them the way she suggested, my legs would get stronger and eventually compensate for the weakness in my knees and I could end up at a time when I had little or no trouble with them at all.
So all of you who think you can't do squats, have a talk with a medical professional who knows what they are talking about and they may be able to help. It was only a very slight adjustment but has made all the difference to me. I'm so stoked by this I just may try 30 day shred again today

It's awesome that a change in your form could diminish the pain to that degree. Very cool. I like the success stories forum, and like reading successes here too!0
