my dog ate my Fitbit One
So after my workout, I sit on the porch under the ceiling fan, eat my lunch, and update MFP, etc. Just a few minutes ago, I stood up and my fitbit (resting on the laptop) fell to the ground. Well my *daughter's* dog picked it up in his mouth and ran off with it. So the chase commenced and then my other daughter got him…

snow skiing yesterday, heavier today
I spent the afternoon and evening skiing yesterday and today I am a little over 3 pounds heavier? So that's water retention, right? I didn't drink enough water yesterday and I also was very active for the whole afternoon and part of the evening. I was probably 500 calories over what I aim for daily, so theoretically at a…

raising your metabolism?
What, if anything, will help to change your metabolism? If it's true that you can lower your metabolism by not eating adequately, then why do people who eat lots get fat? There's more to it than just food, right? So if I said I want to work towards raising my metabolism, how would I go about to do that?

Jillian Michaels + Curves International (women's club)
I'd like to hear other's opinions on this. And this is not the only news that Curves has to share at the moment.... There is evidently more to come. http://news.curves.com/press+releases/jillian-michaels-partners-with-curves.htm November 07, 2013 Jillian Michaels Partners with Curves to Launch Cutting-Edge Workouts to…

My body looks....
...like it's deflated. I have been exercising regularly since I changed my habits. I know I am stronger. I know my endurance level is higher. My waist is very defined, but the "mommy apron" has gotten worse! (looks worse). Also I feel like my legs are really flabby, even though I know they are stronger, it must be the…

calf injury-- when to go to the dr.?
Yesterday while I was jogging my calf felt funny, I dismissed the thought, and then 5 minutes later I felt something pop in my lower right leg in my calf. I did not fall, but I would have if I had lost my balance. I quit and went straight home and alternated ice and heat for the rest of the afternoon, keeping it elevated.…

talk me through target heart rate and fat burning
Is this a myth? Is there a fine line where you are optimally burning fat vs. not? Thanks for your help!

double calories burned on fitbit
I log my exercise on MFP and wear a fitbit one, and later after it syncs with my computer it will log the activity *again* on the fitbit dashboard.? I have to manually delete that activity or else it tells me that I have 2x calories burned through activity, when I've already counted them on MFP. Does that make any sense?…

shoes and numb toes
Anyone have thoughts on this? I have a newish pair of inexpensive shoes (Ryka brand) that I bought simply to walk in, that was before I changed my living habits, but now that I am exercising almost daily, I am finding that after walking or jogging in place that my 2-3 littlest toes start to go numb. So I am wondering if…

glorified candy bars?
I was looking forward to eating this after my workout this morning and then I realized really, is it much different than say a Snickers bar?

Can they be reprogrammed (or however they work) for someone else? I have the opportunity to snag one for about 1/2 of retail. Any advice? Thanks!

I feel like I am skipping school LOL
I work out at Curves M-F, but today I had to work (I don't usually work on the weekdays); anyway, I feel like I am skipping school! I went to Curves to work out early this morning (5:40am) but since it was a different time it was all different people and a different 'trainer'. So I just called "my" trainer and explained to…

greek yogurt vs. original
Explain to me why everyone specifically suggests greek yogurt and not just 'yogurt'? I've never tried greek yogurt but I love my Activia every morning. TIA

blew it at lunch, bummed
We ate out, I didn't choose, but we went to a hibachi japanese restaurant, and I had chicken, veggies, and rice and 2 small garden salad (lettuce and carrot only). I didn't add any sauces, and only ate about 1/4 of the rice I was served, but I can literally *feel* the sodium. The vegetables must have been cooked in soy…

lower abs exercise?
Am I right in believing that crunches strengthen your upper ab muscles? What exercise will help strengthen your lower abs?

how do I even count
How do I even begin to count the calories from today's pot-luck dinner at church? I stayed away from the casseroles, and had roasted potatoes, carrots out of somebody's pot roast, green beans, cooked cabbage (how do they cook it? oil, etc? I dunno) and a half of a bbq-baked chicken breast. It was all very flavorful. And I…

The scale didn't go down today...
And I am bummed by that. I guess in my mathematical mind, any deficit in calories should equal a loss of weight, and I have seen the scale consistently move even by .2 or .4. Today it was .6 higher than yesterday. I measure my food and record everything. I don't exercise. (I know, bad.) And I realize that I shouldn't weigh…
