I was looking forward to eating this after my workout this morning and then I realized really, is it much different than say a Snickers bar?

Yep. Most of those "healthy" granola things are just glorified candy glued together with sugar. I'd just eat a real candy bar and forget it!

It has more protein than a Snickers bar, but it's garbage.

The vast majority of most protein bars are sugar-laden, too. You have to do your research: ingredients, labels, nutritional breakdown.

Nothin wrong with Snickers bars, though I would love a high-protein Snickers.

They actually have that, though: Snickers Marathon bars. I haven't eaten any of those lately, but I do eat Clif Builder's Bars and Pure Protein bars, which are just high-protein candy bars.

Nothing at all wrong with them.

    Depends on your nutrition goals.

    Nature's Valley:
    Calories 190 Sodium 170 mg
    Total Fat 12 g Potassium 0 mg
    Saturated 4 g Total Carbs 14 g
    Polyunsaturated 1 g Dietary Fiber 5 g
    Monounsaturated 7 g Sugars 6 g
    Trans 0 g Protein 10 g
    Cholesterol 0 mg

    Snicker's Bar:
    Calories 250 Sodium 120 mg
    Total Fat 12 g Potassium 0 mg
    Saturated 5 g Total Carbs 33 g
    Polyunsaturated 0 g Dietary Fiber 1 g
    Monounsaturated 0 g Sugars 27 g
    Trans 0 g Protein 4 g
    Cholesterol 5 mg

Taste-wise, sure, I'd rather the Snickers, but it's not going to help me much with my protein goals. :frown:

I will normally just have a snicker if I want one but these aren't to bad and they have multiple flavors. I am not one to be scared off by sugar so.........

Damn someone figured out that some of the stuff that people may think is healthy is pure garbage. I guess I better empty out the bank accounts and skip town, I hear that people are still buying snake oil maybe that is my next venture.

You can make your own and know what really goes in to them maybe check out good eats granola bar recipe

I really like the Nature Valley Salted Caramel Nut bars, but I treat them as candy bars anyway.

People don't understand what they're for even when they're marketed to a bigger demographic. Bars are convenient for those who have it a hard time finding the time to eat a full meal and just need the calories.

Bars aren't a healthy alternative.. they're simply an alternative.

    I like Luna bars.

Me too and for me by eating these I can
control myself. With true candy bars I
usually want more, with Luna the protein
    satiates me.
