Bulking and cutting in women
I am interested in learning about Bulking and cutting in women. I am almost 47, finally getting in good shape after a year on MFP and would like to take it to the next level. I weight train 3 days a week and do cardio 3 days a week. Eat around 1700-1900 calories a week. I'm interested in getting more definition and a bit…

Do macro's really matter (in women)
Are macro's really that important? I always thought they were until I talked to a female body builder at my gym (she is ripped) and she had no idea what a macro was. Now I can't help but wonder, do they matter or is it strictly calories in and calories out? Opinions, thoughts?

Eat more, lose weight YES!
It really is hard to wrap your brain around the whole theory of eating more to lose weight. I still can't believe it but it works. I spent about 2 months at 1200 calories a day, as my healthy eating increased so did my exercise. I lost some weight but the same three pounds just kept coming back. It was crazy making to say…

http://beforeitsnews.com/health/2010/09/25-reasons-the-2010-dietary-guidelines-are-wrong-about-cholesterol-saturated-fat-and-carbohydrates-162582.html I eat fat, lots of it. Butter, nuts, coconut oil, lots of eggs, and cheese and I feel better than ever. I never eat low-fat, but I stay within my daily calorie allowance. I…

I am currently not sure what direction to go and thought i'd see if anyone had some thoughts. My stats are as follows: 46 yrs young, 5' 4" tall and going back and forth between 125-127 currently. Professional BMR creates more questions for me
Just looking for some thoughts on this. In November 2011 I went to a local hospital and had a professional BMR test administered. The directions I was given was I had to do this directly upon awakening, minimal movement as soon as I woke up. This was a breathing machine in which I was to hold perfectly still and breath…

Is this possible or is the website wrong?
I took my second set of measurements today and using an online site attempted to get my body fat percentage but even though inches are down, it says body fat is up, I'm so confused now: As of March 5: Waist (upper) 26.5 Waist (at belly button) 29.5 Thighs 20.5 Chest 32 Calves 14 Neck 13 Wrist 6.5 According to this site:…

Those with HRM's
Those of you with HRM, have you ever just worn it all day to see how many calories you burn going through your day? I just wore mine for two hours and it shows i'm burning 120 per hour (just watching TV, making dinner, relaxing, etc), which means on average in the 17 hours that I am awake I'm burning 2040, add into that…

Heart Rate
Hi, so glad to find this group. I'm 46 yrs young, almost to my goal and learning new things everyday. I wear a HRM to the gym and love seeing where my heart rate is during the stairmaster and treadmill but last night it got higher than I've ever seen it and it had me wondering if it was ok. My resting heart rate is 64 and…

WWYD to get rid of these last 15 lbs? Please help
I'm 46 yrs old, 5' 4", currently teetering between 131 and 133 and am getting very frustrated. I currently use a combination of the stairmaster and the treadmill to log about 5.5 miles, 5 to 6 days a week and my diary is public. I only weight train my legs (once a week) due to a rotater cuff sprain (but have been cleaned…

Going on vacation and sticking to my routine
I'm within 11 lbs of my goal weight and I'm highly motivated however I'm getting a lot of slack from my Dad about my working out and realized I have to tone down my updates on FB when he called me to express concern and also mention that my Aunt is concerned as well. I'm 46 and he pointed out that I'm not 18 anymore and…

My 1st workout with Polar 4 Heart Rate Monitor
Well, I just got home from my first work out with my Polar 4 Heart Rate Monitor and wanted to type this up quickly since others were questioning how I made out. First off, i'm 5' 4", 134 lbs, 46 years young. I did the stairmaster on the setting "rolling hills", level 8 for 25 minutes. According to the stairmaster reading,…

Best for firming
I've been eating right and exercising for months now, losing about a pound a week and 10 lbs from goal. I just found out that I'm going to Florida on Feb 25 and I want to make these next 25 days count in terms of firming and tightening. I've been jogging 5 days a week and doing Zumba but due to straining my rotator cuff…

Healthy Version of Ranch Dressing
If you are like me and you're trying to watch your calorie intake and you miss Ranch dressing so bad, this is a great alternative. I just experimented today and it tastes SO good. 1 1/2 containers (around 5 oz size) of Stonyfield Oikos - Greek Nonfat Yogurt (you could probably use any brand of greek yogurt) 1 envelope of…

Professional BMR and am I on the right track?
I'm 46, 5' 4", 136 lbs with a 120-125 lb weight goal by August 2012. I have been using the online calculators to determine my BMR and have been eating around 1200 calories a day and working out 5 days a week and losing small amounts of weight per week (8 lbs total in 3 months). I've been utterly confused at all the…

advice, longer or harder
I've been building up my endurance on on the threadmill and stairmaster and now i'm not sure which is better. Should I jog longer or should I go for the same length of time but make it harder. For instance, I do a level 7 on the stairmaster for 25 minutes or a level 8 for 20 minutes. For jogging, I can now jog at an…

46 yrs old, 5' 4" 142 lbs
Hi, i've been using myfitnesspal for about a year now, lost 11 lbs, gained it back by being lazy and am now attempting to lose it again. About a month ago I started back on it, eating 1200 calories a day, doing the stairmaster for 45 minutes a day/5 days a week and although I lost 4 lbs, I am now back up 2 lbs. Needless to…
