Too much thinking?
As I am still making my way through the book, I keep thinking that there is too much "thinking" involved to eat intuitively. Perhaps it is because I read it at night before bed, and I am tired and trying to process all the questions to ask yourself just seems like a lot late at night. Maybe after it becomes ingrained in…

Question for Polar T-31 Coded Transmitter users.
Polar recently sent me a new strap, the T-31 Coded with built-in Transmitter, since I was having issues with the Textile strap and Soft Strap giving me unrealistically high readings for maximum heart rate. I have only used it a few times, and so far no wacky high readings, but twice I have had struggles getting it to pick…

Eating at maintenance or above for muscle building
Can the "bulking" calories goal be met as an average for the week just like cutting can? For example, if I have a really high calorie day (or two), can I average it out with a few days under goal to make the weekly average close to the calorie goal I set for bulking? If so, does it matter which days are the higher calorie…

Fitbit users with heart rate monitors and logging exercise
I am curious how other Fitbit users log their exercise. Do you still log exercise on MFP either with their calorie calculations or use your heart rate monitor calculation, or just let Fitbit do the calculating for you? I know some exercises like bicycling and weightlifting may not reflect accurately on the Ftibit, but I…

Heart rate monitor and calories burned
I just got a heart rate monitor, Reebok FitWatch, and used it this morning while doing step aerobics (The FIRM). According to it, I burned about 650 calories in 45 min. How can that be? It seems way too much? This monitor does not have a chest strap. You need to touch two fingers to the metal contacts for a reading. I…

Using a Heart Rate Monitor
When logging calories from a heart rate monitor during exercise, should I subtract the calories I would have normally burned during that time doing general day to day activity? For example, my monitor said I burned 692 calories for 56 minutes of step aerobics, but I would have burned about 100 calories just doing things…

HRM and Zone Alarm
I have tried using the zone alarm on my HRM, but find that if I'm doing an interval training or weight-training, my heart rate fluctuates too much and the alarm is always going off. Is it best to only use the alarm feature when doing a straight aerobic activity that keeps your heart rate at a more steady rate? I am also…

Trying out new heart rate monitor
I just got a Timex heart rate monitor and used it for the first time this morning while doing a weight workout. I did about a 4 minute warm-up followed by a 50 minute weight workout. I was suprised that it told me I burned 465 calories. My minimum rate was 85 (probably when I hit "start" just before warming up) and my…

My Foods & My Meals tabs - add to food diary?
On the tabs 'My Foods' and 'My Meals' I can bring up foods I have entered, and meals I have created, but there does not seem to be a way to add them to the Food Diary from that plcae? What is the sense in having meals created if you can't add them? Am I doing something wrong?

Question for those who are consistantly on target
I was wondering what you found your average weight loss to be if you were very consistant with being close to "0" at then end of the day. Has anyone determined if the site's prediction, after finishing logging for the day, and it says "If every day was like today you'd weigh ... in 5 weeks" seems accurate? I know average…

When was this website started?
I have been looking at the dates next to various profiles, and the earliest I saw was someone joining in August 2007. Does anyone know when this website was started? Just curious.

logging aerobics - warm-up, cool-down, stretch?
I often do step aerobics for cardio and have been factoring out the time for warm-up, cool-down, and stretch. Is that how it should be done? I figured I'm not burning as many calories during those parts.

Bad day, yet final analysis said I still would have lost?
Yesterday I had a bad day (too many cookies that my daughter baked) and over-did my calories. :frown: I was surprized when I hit the final log-in button for the day that it said that "if every day was like today, I would lose 4 &1/2 pounds by April 19." That really confused me - especially when I got on the scale this…

Hello everyone!
I just started logging two days ago. I've got the habit of exercising consistantly, but trouble with loving food. I had been logging calorie intake on my own on paper, but not subtracting my exercise. I'm a little confused about the goal setting. I used the "guided" form and chose to lose 1 & 1/2 lbs. per week, and…
