All you 5'8" ladies
Just wondering what are you weight loss goals? What body shape and frame size are you? What are you expecting to get out of this journey? I'd like to get down to my pre-preg weight of 150 lbs. I still have 20 lbs to go. After that I'd like to lose a bit more but it depends on how I feel. If I'm as healthy as can be and my…

My "mommy belly" before/after pictures - 4 mos, 20 lbs
I'm very shy when it comes to stuff like this but I really feel to share. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and after my second I wasn't sure how my belly would respond. Didn't know if it would shrink down much more, didn't know if the stretch-marked skin would tighten. I'm not one of those mamas who "snap" back -…

breastfeeding, weightlifting, DOMS, strength down
I didn't know how to word the subject. I did an upper body workout on Tuesday. It's now Friday. My upper body was still sore but I figured I'd work it again anyway considering I gave my body several days in between. I really struggled through my workout. Didn't increase weight in anything and actually managed to decrease…

From 2 consecutive pushups to 15 in 2 months? possible?
Can one go from doing 2 consecutive *non-modified* pushups to 15 in 2 months? What I mean is, is that possible or should I give myself more time? My chest is pretty weak but I train hard and would love to accomplish this within 2 months. Thanks!

Strength routine: suggestions? am I missing anything?
I'm not new to strength training, but I have been off of my normal groove for quite some time. I'm 25 and have two little ones, my youngest being 4 months old who I breastfeed. I am not looking to lose massive amounts of weight but want to focus more on strengthening my body while having some excess weight fall off…

Any fellow pregnant ladies out there!?
I'm in my second trimester, pregnant with #2 and am keeping fit this time around. Anyone else? I could definitely use the support! With #1 I began at my normal weight and gained 36 lbs. I eventually lost all my baby weight and came down to my pre-pregnant size right when I got pregnant with #2. It took a lot of work…

Q about protein requirements for those who lift weights?
So far I've been following what MFP suggested and I'm thinking that it's too low for the weight training that I do. In your opinion (because I know there is a lot of mismatched info out there) how much protein is needed?

hypothyroid - now dropping weight very quickly
About 8 months after having my son - after packing weight back on - my doctor ordered a thyroid test and I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid.) I've been on medication since. I've now been on medication for 10 months (my son is a year and a half now) and for the past couple of weeks I have been…

side effects from organic green tea?
I had some organic green tea the other day and I became light headed, dizzy, almost drugged feeling. I had one cup of coffee that morning; this was one cup of green tea in the afternoon. My body is used to the caffeine so I don't think it would be from a caffeine overdose. What the heck? I've been slightly scared to try it…

"healthiest" sports bar food?
We're going for supper tonight at a sports bar for my brother's birthday. Their menu isn't online or anything so I can't really prepare in advance. Anyone have an idea about what foods would be the better options? Everyone else will be eating greasy chicken wings and beer. I don't even like wings so that's not an issue. Do…

What's considered "lifting heavy" for women?
I think I lift heavy already and want to lift heavier - and from what I understand us ladies rarely will "bulk up" so there's nothing to be worried about. I love the look of fitness models and sometimes I wonder what weight they lift. So I have a few questions: 1. what's considered "lifting heavy" for women, and 2. does…

Honest opinions on my routine? Please critique!
I'm getting back into the groove of things and would like honest opinions. I'm a stay at home mom who also (newly) works part-time. I work out at home using 15 lb dumbbells (if I had 20 lb - 30 lb I'd use those) and an elliptical and/or intervals outside. I'm trying to make a plan that is realistic and that will work with…

Moms, how/when do you fit in exercise?
Since starting work part-time I've been struggling to make time for exercise. I used to work upper body and lower body on different days twice a week. Now I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking maybe I should do a full-body workout twice a week. How do you fit in your workouts? Why/how does it work for you? Any advice is…

What do you think about full body workouts?
Is it better to do a split routine or does it not matter as long as you are getting the exercise in? Any advice is appreciated.

Q for *ladies who lift heavy*?
How much do you lift for your biceps? At what weight will you stop increasing the weight? How much do you lift for your triceps? At what weight will you stop increasing the weight? If you do weighted squats/lunges, how much do you carry? At what weight will you stop increasing the weight? Also - what are your short…

Q about cardio for those who lift weights?
I work each muscle group twice a week and do cardio throughout the week. I'm wondering how often *should* I be doing cardio?

I just feel like EATING!
This is right after a big weight loss this week (3 lbs which is HUGE for me.) It doesn't help that for 2 days it's been really gross outside - dark and rainy. I've been anxious and lacking sleep lately, too. I feel so tempted like I could go crazy and eat everything. :(

If you eat *pretty* clean, what's one thing you can't give u
I have a weakness for a whole wheat toast sandwich made of 1 low-fat cheese slice and a little bit of non-hydrogenated margarine. :embarassed: It's frickin' delicious, OK!? haha

How much protein after weight training? OK from food?
Sometimes I'll weight train right before a meal like dinner and sometimes I just drink a glass of milk afterwards. Is it essential to have a protein shake or can I get the protein I need from normal food? Are there pros/cons to each? TIA =)

Green tea does curb the appetite!
I swear that since I've been drinking green tea in the evenings I haven't wanted to snack. Just thought I'd pass along a tip :) (Also, eating a bigger breakfast seems to help a bunch, too!)

Can you explain the pull-push weight training technique?
I remember learning about this in kinesiology in university a couple of years ago but can't quite remember why you're supposed to do it and how to do it properly. Can anyone explain? TY : )

No chips for a month!!!
This is a challenge for myself! Just wanted to make it known. If you'd like to join me, go ahead! We'll see if chips taste either really good or horrible on June 21, 2011! I'll be allowing myself chip "substitutes." WISH ME LUCK! I'll need it! haha

Q for the mommies?
To those who are trying to lose the weight: do past pictures of yourself inspire you or make you feel down? For me it's both. Sometimes I get kinda sad thinking that my belly will never be that toned again - yet *usually* I'm at peace with it because it did a wonderful thing for me: carried my little one for 9 beautiful…
