Runners! Need friends for half mara training!
Hello! I did it-signed up for my first half marathon in September. Really need friends to check in with frequently and keep me motivated (and not terrified!). Would also really like to drop some lbs by that time as well (and not experience the dreaded marathon training weight gain!). Let's be friends!!

Fellow runners-hello!
Back after an absence. Training for a half marathon in the fall, want to get leaner (to make it easier!) and need all the encouragement I can get. Let's do this!

Are races "easier"?
I've run for 20+ years, never had any inclination to run a race. A friend recently told me that races are "easier" due to all of the adrenaline, support, distraction etc. Thoughts?

Make Yes Happen? Anyone tried this?
It is a virtual race (I guess) where you log miles and it takes you through a course and you get a medal (?). Looks kind of cool-anyone tried it? Anyone interested in doing it with me?

Starbucks options?
OK-time to give up my daily Starbuck's habit (trying to save some $$). What is a good low calorie coffee creamer that would compare to a caramel macchiato?

Dublin Pub Crawl for April
Just logged in a really nice 4.25 miles on the Make Yes Happen Dublin Pub Crawl. Who else is starting? :D

Running Technology Suggestions?
The bad news, I need a new watch. The good news, I get to get a new watch! Interested in running watches that track mileage, time, calories, and import to a system that will graph all of these things (along with other work outs). Does such a thing exist (for less than Garmin $$$)? Thank you in advance!

Who supplements?
And why? I am in the cloudy PNW, so I am thinking some vitamin D isn't a bad idea. But I also am not interested in paying for "expensive urine" (which is how vitamins were once explained to me by a nutritionist).

Muscle vs fat blues
I have gone from basically sedentary and not paying any attention to what I ate to -500 cal /day and running 15-25 miles per week, and although my clothes are looser the scale is basically stuck.I understand the losing fat/gaining muscle thing, but this just seems a little disproportional. It is also making me want to…

Kicking butt, but need supportive friends!
I have been posting daily, eating right, exercising like mad and seeing changes. The problem is that I am apparently building muscle, because although my clothes are baggy the scale is barely budging. This, as you know, is FRUSTRATING! I am looking for people to keep me on track (I have good friends here, but there are…

Still confused about eating back calories
I've read through a bunch of posts, and have managed to confuse myself even more. MFP goal is 1500cal/day. If I burn 600 with exercise and end up with around 500ish calories left over at the end of the day am I doing this right??? I am seeing people putting in 1 calorie burned to avoid eating calories back...and now I am…

Heavy Metal /80s playlists
Need some suggestions that have nothing even remotely to do with hip-hop or rap. Or anything that sound like Beiber. Currently have a lot of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax,Megadeath, Pantera, Slayer, Foo Fighters with an occasional Michael Jackson or Duran Duran thrown in for fun. Sound like you? Suggest for me, please!

Running Challenge?
I am setting a goal for myself to run a minimum of 9.36 miles per week (a 5K at least 3 times per week), giving me a total for January of 37.44 miles (which sounds like an awful lot, sitting here on December 30th!). I may even do more, if the 'ol IT holds out. Anyone want to do this with me?

Hi! New to the group. :)
Hello! I posted somewhere else about a January challenge and was directed here. Are there some January challenges I am not seeing? Very excited! :)

Strava users
I would like to track different aspects of my run (distance, rate, incline etc-wish MFP would just add these already!!), and had previously had people say that Strava was a good resource. I've looked on the site, which seems good, but as I am doing a lot of my running indoors on the treadmill would this be worth it? It…

When will it be?
It seems that the work I put in is usually a week behind, that the workout I/eating choices of this very nice first week will end up in results I see next week (not huge, but some loss, more energy etc). Like if you work overtime you don't see it until next week's check. Anyone else think this way?

Suggestions shows on Amazon Prime to stream
Just discovered I can run the treadmill and watch shows for free on Amazon Prime. Looking for something highly addictive (think Bravo shows or historical fiction). Any suggestions ?!

Weight Watchers on line? Yay or nay?
I am interested in WW on line (no interest whatsoever in meetings in person). I searched here and saw some posts, but it appears it has been a while since the groups have been active. Does anyone use WW on line? Pros and cons? Any info appreciated!

I'm back, and need some help.:)
Hello! Starting a healthier plan starting today after an injury and life derailed me for a while. I've had success on MFP, but know I do much better with friends to check in with and support (back and forth). Female in my 40s, vegetarian, runner, limiting ETOH (starting a couple of weeks ago, trying to figure it all out).…

Back-again. Looking for support!
Back again after an IT band injury derailed my running, which derailed everything. I have hopefully given it enough time to heal properly, and am back on this ride again. Looking to eat healthy, drop some LBs and generally overhaul my unhealthy lifestyle. I am vegetarian, want to stop drinking as much, and I am excited to…

No booze?
Thinking of going booze free for a time. Anyone else thinking the same? Maybe a week? Maybe more?

IT Band exercises?
This damned IT band is driving me crazy. I have a foam roller and have started using it, but what exercises have worked for you?

Books as a reference
Hi! I am looking for a great book on fitness and nutrition. I know everyone has an opinion, but I wanted to get a consensus and see if anything stands out amongst the rest. What is your fitness bible?

Viva La Run!!
This week marks the 8 week mark of my return to running. I am averaging 5K minimum 4 days per week. And I am back to the point where I don't feel as good on my "rest" days, and can't wait for my next run day! This is good. B)

Arm Bands?
Can anyone recommend a good Ipod armband to run with. I don't think I'd like a chest or waist belt, so I think I'll try the arm route. Suggestions?

Arm bands
I've read other posts, and think I want to invest in an arm band for my Ipod while I run (don't want a chest or waist band). Any brand recommendations?

Days off
Hello! I have been diligent for the last three weeks, and am seeing results. One question; does anyone else take a "day off"? I have been giving myself one day a week (still making the best choices I can make), but in just imagining what I might have consumed calorie wise (esp alcohol-yikes!), it has me thinking. Do we…
