Fitbit floor tracking
Was trying to figure out why my fitbit said I climbed 16 floors today so I went to the online help and FAQs section and this is what I found. Fitbit trackers that count floors use an altimeter to calculate how many floors you've climbed. An altimeter is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure.…

Who really counts the BLTs?
We ALL do it and I will have a hard time believing anyone who says they don't. BLTs are the Bites, Licks and Tastes we take through out the day but do you really track them? Mothers cleaning up after their children. There's two cheetos left in the bag, do you eat them? If so, do you bust out the scale to see how many…

Anyone into vaping?
I am fairly new to vaping, having quit smoking 2 months ago, and I am loving it. Does anyone know a good website to get pretty or decorative accessories, batteries, etc.? I have found some really nice ones on pinterest but when I follow the links I can't find them.

Has anyone heard of the corset diet?
I am NOT looking to try this diet. I just came across it and it was flabbergasted at the idea. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/04/29/women-lacing-up-corsets-to-lose-weight/

Jamaican beef patty recipe??
Does anyone have a good recipe for Jamaican beef patties? And I'm a good cook but making the crust kind of intimidates me so would using the canned crescent rolls or pre made pie crust be a better option?

This is what MFP is all about! (pic)
I am struggling to find the words to tell you all about the amazing man I call friend. His name is stvsan, or IRL Steve. He was one of the first friends I made on MFP and I had no idea of the connection we would have and what it would mean to me. A few weeks ago he came up with a challenge to the runners on his FL. I would…

What to make when you don't feel like cooking
I am in a rut and I really don't feel like cooking tonight and don't know what I even want to fix. Any ideas? Something quick and easy would be preferable

Overweight daughter
My daughter is 26, 287 lbs and about 5'7". She knows she needs to lose weight to be healthy and yet does nothing about it. I have tried everything I can think of to encourage her to start this journey. When I was doing WW I actually got her to join. She lost about 15 lbs and then for whatever reason gave up on it. I am now…

Has anybody seen this?
So apparently there is a new tracker coming out soon. Supposedly it tracks your calorie intake, heart rate and all the other usual stuff. Check it out and tell me what you think. If it works the way they say it does, I would love to have one.…

Smart scales?
What can you guys tell me about the smart scales? The Fitbit Aria, Withings, etc. Are they accurate for the body fat and BMI?

BMI or Body fat %
So last night I was looking at some numbers. Where I was, where I am and where I want to be. When I started I was 250 and my BMI was 45 which is in the morbidly obese category. Currently I am 174 with a BMI of 31 in the obese category. According to the BMI charts, at my height, 5'2", healthy weight is between 101-137. Last…

My advice to those just starting
Let me start by giving you a little bit of my background. I am 46, and have been on this journey for over 2 yrs. My start weight was 250 lbs. My current weight is 174 lbs. It is a long and sometimes hard process, but it can be as easy as you make it. I eat what I want 95% of the time with moderation. I rarely exercise…

Milestone loss
I started my journey a little over 2 yrs ago. I lost 70 lbs in about a year and a half and got stuck. It took a long time but I realized I wasn't ready to quit just yet and I found MFP. With the help of MFP and the amazing friends I've made here the weight started dropping again. It took some trial and error but I have…

Closing your diary for the day
I am just curious as to when most people close their food diary for the day. I usually close my at night before I go to bed. Do you pre-log and close early? Do you wait until the next morning? Or, like me, before you go to bed?

Which seems more accurate?
Ok, I know this topic has been done but I still need help deciding where to track my exercise, on fitbit or MFP. Let me give you some information. 5'2 (don't think that matters as far as calorie burn though) CW 178 I rode a stationary bike for 5 miles in 15 mins. When I put it in MFP it gave me a calorie burn of 141. When…

Help with macros.
Now that I've gotten the hang of counting calories and into the habit of weighing my food, I am now trying to pay a little more attention to the macros and have come across an issue. Making it about more than the number on the scale.
My cousin's wife is a personal trainer and writes a blog for their local health dept. and since this one was particularly motivating, at least to me, I thought I would share. http://healthymesacounty.org/inspire/blogs/item/making-it-about-more-than-the-number-on-the-scale

Weighing food when you're traveling
I have just recently gotten into the habit of actually weighing my food (yay me) but am a little concerned about what to do when I travel. We are getting ready to go to Disney World in a few weeks so between the 10 hr drive and the time there my calorie intake is gonna be off kilter. I will make healthy choices when I can…

Ate something and have no idea how many calories
Oh I really really hope someone can help. I went to a Target store that had a Pizza Hut in it and I had a chicken artichoke cream cheese pretzel thingy and I have no idea how many calories it was. I stupidly figured I could look it up when I got home. Lo and behold, I can't find it ANYWHERE. If anyone knows what chicken…

This may be a silly question about weighing food
So I have recently started to weigh my food instead of just measuring and I am quite curious about something. I will use mayo as my reference since that is what led me to the question in the first place. The label says a serving size is 1 tbsp (14g). Calories for one serving is 35. Now I know from reading a lot of posts…

Question about weighing food
I realize now that I need to get in the habit of not just measuring my food but weighing it. My question is, I do a lot of cooking at home for up to 5 people, so do I weigh the ingredients as I'm cooking the whole meal and then weigh again for my portion or do I cook the meal and then weigh out my portion? Hope that makes…

Which fitbit?
I have decided to get a fitbit and was leaning towards the force but after doing some more research I've read that clip ons can be a little more accurate. The wrist worn ones can be skewed for example if you talk with your hands or swing your arms when you walk. Thoughts and/or opinions anyone?
