Resistance training is going really well, but...
Hello all, hope you're well  Quick question: I am a 19-nearly-20 year old female student nurse, who has not long started resistance training in addition to my running and some gym classes. I tend to superset upper and lower exercises as well as abs to try (in my amateur manner) to hit most body parts. Lower really…

Best affordable set of bathroom scales?
So I am a uni student, and after my first term, I think life would be much easier if I had my own set of scales with me at uni. I've been very kindly given a 15 pound Amazon voucher too for Christmas, so it won't have to come out of my weekly total. So, my question is - in your opinions what is the best scale to buy that…

5 ft 4 girls...is this crazy?!
So I've been thinking about where I'm headed in my weight loss - specifically how light I want to be. When I started at about 10 and a half stone, 9 stone seemed absurd, like a stick insect! Now I've broken down that barrier, and thought 120 pounds (8st 8lb) would be a tough target, definitely as light as I'd want to go.…

How often should I lift heavy?
Hiya everyone, hope you're well :) I have historically only ever been a long distance runner, but now that I've come to uni, I managed to join a body-building society by mistake (yeah, long story...) and have found that their group workouts are really satisfying and HARD. I've been trying to incorporate weights and…

Slow carb diet for vegans?
So I've been really interested in the slow carb diet (4 hour body) recently. You don't eat any traditional carbs at all, just protein (e.g. lean meats for most people), legumes (like pinto beans, lentils, etc.) and vegetables. I think that this would definitely get the weight off me fast, because simple carbs are my…

Advice on avoiding alcohol....
So I have just started university, and I don't like to drink. It makes my workouts slower, I feel sluggish, bloated and fat. But I do love to socialise and meet people, which is especially important during freshers. I try to avoid liquid calories, and sugary/fizzy drinks too. But over the next few days, I'm going to a…

Calculating exercise calories
I'm really unsure of whether MFP estimations are correct. I'm trying not to eat over my exercise calories, so it doesn't make much difference anyway - but I was just curious if there was a more effective way of calculating calories burned according to your weight and performance. I just want to know what I burned hahah!

I've plateaued but not plateaued
This has happened before - I've stayed at the same weight, or even gone over it, but not lost anything for a few weeks, but then somehow managed to just shift it. Yesterday and the day before, I worked so hard to measure out food and exercise like a mad thing, but only really managed to get to the low end of where I…

Coffee and sleep loss?
So I am a pretty serious coffee drinker. Especially at the moment, as I am having very disturbed/lacking sleep due to worrying. I don't drink loads and loads - probably an average of about 2 cups of strong black coffee a day, sometimes just one. Not much, but I do rely on it to get me through the day. And before you ask, I…

How to manage weight at university - any ideas?
Hi all, I am really happy with my weight loss results so far, and want to keep losing about 5-20 lbs more. I feel so encouraged and happy about my weight for the first time in years! However. I go to university in 8 days, and I want to be able to monitor my weight, if only to make sure I'm staying healthy. I weigh myself…

A couple of questions about fasting
So my current regime is working like a charm - I have lost a load of weight and am still going, without even batting an eyelid. I fast until 4 o'clock, when I eat a bowl of bran flakes, flaked almonds, dairy free yoghurt and dairy free milk. I make sure I've eaten a decently portioned tea with my family by 8 o'clock. I…

Goal weights for 5ft 4 in ladies :)
Just really curious to know where you guys would like to be, what you would see as ideal etc. My goal weight at the moment is 120 lbs, about 8 and a half stone. I am currently about 9 and a half stone :( I decided this due to various online calculators, and by taking my small frame and active lifestyle into account. I love…

A few questions about Intermittent Fasting...
OK, so I have tried several different methods of weight loss now, and I'm considering coming back to this one now, but doing it differently to the one-day-on-one-day-off approach I did before. That was awful! I got quite obsessive and made myself ill with it. But anyway! The way I'm interested in is called the Leangains…

Why am I bulky?
I think I may know the answer, but I'd really like some advice. So I am a vegan, with what have been some truly atrocious eating habits. Way way way too much sugar. Binges like you've never seen. Basically, I put on lots of weight and developed uncontrolled eating when I started working, because everyone was making…

Is 8 stone a reasonable weight?
I am an 18 year old girl. I am very active, and enjoy long distance running and working out with weights, its fair to say I'm very muscly. I have a pretty petite frame, and my height is 5 ft 4. I eat very healthily now, and this week I have restricted my intake to 600 calories, which I am doing without too much problems as…

What does a typical day's eating look like for you?
I'm changing some deeply ingrained eating habits at the moment, and trying to make some healthy ones too. I'm very curious about what you people would tend to eat when. I'm a newish vegan too, so any other vegans please feel free to chip in! I'm kind of shooting for the calorie range of about 500 calories, but struggling…

What are your goals for this month?
So I recently put on almost all the weight I lost pretty fast. I lost it rapidly and it was amazing...then I just slipped. Yesterday was healthy day though, and guess how much I lost? 3 POUNDS! In a DAY! This is a massive encouragement to me, I ate no processed sugar either (which is tough for me), and cut carbs back. But…

Weekend fast
Hello lovely people, I'd like to ask for your advice! I have been interested in fasting for a while now, as a way to cleanse and heal the body. I believe that it has a lot of health benefits if done correctly. I've even heard stories of people for whom fasting has cured them of cancer! Its been a funny few months for me,…
