Weekend fast

Hello lovely people, I'd like to ask for your advice! I have been interested in fasting for a while now, as a way to cleanse and heal the body. I believe that it has a lot of health benefits if done correctly. I've even heard stories of people for whom fasting has cured them of cancer!
Its been a funny few months for me, and with one thing or another, I have found myself fueled by way way too much sugar and caffeine. I have kicked the caffeine dependency, but really want to stop all the confusing feelings around sugar and food generally. I used to to binge out on horrible quantities of sugar - flapjack being my main weakness - and copious amounts of strong black coffee. I detoxed for about a month and lost almost a stone, but quickly gained it back when I returned to my old habits. The good thing is though that I now know what I'm doing, and how easily weight can come off/be gained.
I've been very gassy and headachy, and been passing peculiar stools recently, not to mention very long periods (sorry if its too much information, but its been 3 weeks non-stop, I know right!), I've been fatigued, and I know its time to change. I am so out of whack! I have been detoxing with these effects for a few days and I feel like all the crap hasn't quite left my system. I know I've done it damage, and sort of want to reset it.
So I want to water fast over the weekend. I've not properly fasted before, but I'm pretty sure I can swing it as I've done intermittent fasting before.
So my questions are really is it a good idea for someone like me; does anyone have any tips/insight/how is it best to break the fast/any extra information I should know?
A little about me - I am an 18 year old girl who does not sleep much and tends to overdo things a bit in life, and has suffered a lot of dizziness and fainting as a result of this; I am a vegan; I am an avid long distance runner... I would really value some advice if you're willing to give it!

Silly idea is a silly idea.
You really should think about listening to different stories about cleanses, detox and fasting. (hint: you do not need to cleanse or detox because your body does that naturally, which is why we poop and pee) (another hint: water fasting is silly) (another hint: fasting doesn't cure cancer)
edit for extra word0 -
Fasting doesn't cure cancer, cleanses don't cleanse anything, that's what the liver and kidneys do. Fasting for more than a day is not the greatest idea in the world, in fact, I don't recommend fasting for even a day. Good luck though.

This thread will not end well. That being said:
"quickly gained it back when I returned to my old habits" Focus on this part. Change your habits and you'll change yourself.
You do not need to cleanse, detox, "reset" or anything like that. Your kidneys and liver will cleanse and detox your body just fine assuming there's nothing wrong with them.
Stick around the forums, keep asking questions and please don't fall for fads like the above mentioned cleanses, as well as miracle pills/wraps/diets or anything promising quick, effortless results.
edit: slow to post! Most of what I said was posted by others while I was still typing!0 -

who ever told you this ^^ run as quickly as you can in the other direction.
fasting is hogwash imo.
if u want a "cleanse" eat mostly whole foods in your diet.0 -
You state you have a tendency to over due things. A 2 day fast is over kill. There is nothing to reset. A healthy diet with plenty of water fiber and micronutrients and balanced macros is all your body needs to reset its self. Deprivation is unnecessary and can be unhealthy.0

I think you need to see (1) a doctor and (2) a nutritionist, in that order.0

I was going to second seeing a doctor. Your only 18 and you've been having a 3 week long period? and your feeling dizzy and faint? Worst thing right now would be to do a water fast, it might actually send you to the hospital. Go see a doctor!0
