how much yogurt is too much?
I love yogurt ... and I'm currently living in Spain where healthy snack food is hard to come by. Lately, I'll eat greek yogurt for breakfast, have some yogurt with granola for a snack and enjoy low-fat/non-fat froyo with friends. It's been so hot here, that I'm really liking the refreshing taste of cold yogurt and with all…

NSV-- liking my body
So, I weighed in today an only lost .6lbs. I was disappointed, but I partly expected it due to TOM snacking (and the snacking choices I was making were not good). However, as I looked at myself in the mirror, I realized that I was beginning to like my body again. It had definition, curves (in the right places!), muscle and…

Ways to shake up my workout ...
Hi all! Currently, I'm living in Spain and working out by doing 2 hours of speed walking at the park (it's a big park) and then some resistance stuff (ab workouts, squats, etc) in my flat (I live on the third floor, so I don't do a lot of jumping). Things had been going really well, but I noticed that I'm starting to get…

What makes ya move? (music!)
Hi All! My current exercise play list is getting old and needs to be invigorated a bit. What are you all listening to? TIA!

Has anyone tried the app "80 Bites"
Just heard about this app (80 Bites) that tracks how many bites you take per meal. Has anyone tried it? What did you think? TIA!

Inutitive eaters??
Hi Everyone! I've been reading some books on intuitive eating (eating when you're hungry and stopping when you're full-- as well as eating what you crave and what your body needs). Is/has anyone else trying/tried this? I don't want to have to constantly feel like I have to measure and count calories when my body…

Extreme lifestyle changes and weight loss
Hi Everyone! So, long story short-- I've been moving between the United States and Spain (spending time in Spain for 3 months at a time) for my dissertation research. I have *finally* realized that I can make the pedestrian environment of Madrid work for me. Since I got here in April, I've lost about 11 pounds. Since I've…

I *heart* Kefir!
My favorite flavor is the pomegranate from Trader Joe's! Just thought I'd put in a plug for a healthy and tasty snack. It's almost like a drinkable yogurt smoothie with lots of probiotics (good for gut health!), protein, calcium and very filling! I also hear it's easy on those who might have some lactose intolerance since…

Tracking Tapas ...?
Tonight we're having Tapas (little appetizer-sized plates of Spanish yumminess that everyone at the table shares). There will be several different options of tapas, but it won't be one meal--it'll be " a couple of bites of this, a bite of that, a bite of some other thing" .... how do I track that?? Any ideas?

After Upping Calories, how long before ....
... you saw a change on the scale? I'm 26, 5'4, and 160lbs. Last week (mid-week), I decided to up my calorie intake (originally to 1450, but changed it Sunday/Monday to reflect my more sedentary lifestyle) to 1310 and to eat my exercise calories (I wasn't doing that before. Bad me! I know...). For those of you who made…

Dear MFP, Could you BE more vague?
Hi Everyone, I'm having a hard time deciding if I'm sedentary or lightly active. I'm a grad student who spends a great deal of time sitting. Yet, I exercise intensely for about 45 minutes, 5-6 times a week and burn between 300-500 calories an exercise session. Should I move my settings to "lightly active" or "sedentary"?…

Reassurance?
I've spent the last month or so on this site and after the first week where I lost 2lbs, I haven't seen a loss. I'm not kidding. Not one loss. The scale hasn't gone past 160 in about 3 weeks. The first week (when I did lose) I had so much activity going on--between exercise and packing up my apartment and I tried to keep…

Cold breakfasts besides cereal
Hi all! It's about 100 degrees here and as much as I love oatmeal and toast .... it's almost too hot to cook anything. Any suggestions for breakfasts that are refreshing on hot mornings? Thanks!

eating exercise calories and .... gaining?
So, I spent most of last week reading the board with all of the horror stories about "starvation mode" and needing to net your minimum calorie intake (I'm between 161-159lbs, 5'4 and 26 years old with a minimum cal intake of 1200). So this week I decided that I would try to eat at least a majority of my exercise cals.…

Fitbit?
Has anyone tried this little gadget before? What do you think? I want to get a good idea about how many calories I burn in a day along with exercise ... thought I would try this.

TOM and weight gain
I take continous b/c so I hardly have to think about TOM ...but when I do, I notice that I gain around 3-4 pounds more. And that's when I'm watching what I eat and am drinking lots of water. If you lovely ladies don't mind me asking, how much weight do you put on and do you find that it falls off easily by the next week?

Beck Diet -day 1
I've started the Beck Diet Solution and the first day's assignment is to write a list of all the reasons I want to lose weight. I've decided to make myself accountable to all of you (I'm also carrying around a card with these reasons). Here they are! Feel free to share your own! I'll look better I'll be able to wear a…

Magazines that help to motivate/inspire
I've found that if I really want to get excited and interested in getting healthy, getting fit and losing weight, I turn to magazines for ideas and inspiration. Two of my favorites are *Shape* and *Fitness*. Do you have any magazines that really help to get you excited about leading a healthier life?

Harder to lose weight 2nd/3rd time around?
Hi everyone, I started trying to lose weight on WWer's last year and lost about 13lbs, but left it because I found the points system to frustrating and gained back half of the weight. I tried again in the Spring and lost some weight, but then I hurt my foot and put most of the weight back on again. I'm finding that even…

Situation: Pizza
Tomorrow, I will be spending a fair bit of the day packing and moving 2/3rd of my stuff into a storage container with the help of friends. Since we're graduate students, the best way to pay them back is to take them to get pizza at a nearby pizza joint. I realize I'm over thinking this, but how would you handle this…

Really want to binge--chewing gum instead?
I'm currently in the process of packing up my apartment. I'm really overwhelmed and really stressed out and want nothing more than to eat an entire bag of cinnamon sugar pita chips. I exercised earlier today and that helped, but I can't seem to get working on packing again. Trying to chew gum in hopes that it'll give my…

Do workout videos/DVDs really work?
I'm moving in August to the desert from a place that isn't nearly as hot. I'm used to running quite a bit, but I don't think I'll be doing much of that when it's 100+ degrees outside. I'm looking into buying a couple of workout videos in the hope that I can take care of some cardio while inside the a/c (I should add that I…

I'm Stuck
Hi everyone, This is my first message here, since I'm finally at the point where I'm grasping at straws. I have been playing around with the same 4 pound for the last 3 months. I'm eating 1430 cals (and exercising off about 300 cals 5 days a week (give or take 100 extra cals depending on the exercise). I'm stronger, I have…
