Farro recipes?
I've started to notice a lot of Farro recipes and since I'm a big grain gal, I thought I'd ask all of you lovely MFP peeps what you do with Farro! Any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm trying to eat healthy, filling, and tasty foods, so I'm up to all kinds of recipes (except anything that has to do with a microwave,…

fitbit weekly avg vs.daily deficit
Hi there fitbit users (or anyone else): My fitbit allows me to see how my weekly calories add up on a weekly average (so, it will tell me if I have a 3,500 calorie a week deficit for a 1lb loss or 5,200 calorie deficit for a weekly loss of 1.5lbs). Do any of you look at your calorie intake as based on a weekly average…

MFP calorie level increases
Hi all, Just a quick question. I have my calorie goals set to losing 1lb a week (with the intention of eating back 1/2-3/4 of my exercise calories). Before all of the fun holiday splurging began (I weighed 145lbs, 5'4), they had me at 1350 calories a day (again, I ate back a good portion of my exercise calories). I…

Adjusting Calorie Intake
Hi all! I'm appealing to the wisdom of the MFP community. After a summer of overindulgence, I worked to get back on track September 1st. (I'm 28 years old, 5'4, currently 145lbs, would like to get to 130--and I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis). I started September at 149lbs. MFP set me at 1360, but I adjusted it on my own to…

water weight loss after illness
Hi All, So, I had planned to be really smart about my eating and activity while on a 4 day vacation last week (Friday-Monday). What I did not plan was to get a cold on the first day of my vacation. The result of this was very little activity on my part and eating way over my TDEE cut for at least 2-3 of the four days of my…

Someone talk me down, please!
At the beginning of March this year, I was at my lowest weight in 6 years. Then, due to carelessness and the inability to be honest with myself, I gained it all (the January-March loss--not the weight I had lost before then!) back. As of today, I am finally back at that March weight after 8 weeks of consistency (I…

Rest Week, body recomp and vacations
Hi all! Next Thursday, I am going to San Francisco (ish-area-kind of) for my Aunt's 70th birthday and I'll be there for about 4 days. While I will be doing some exercise (my Aunt rented a beach house, so there's opportunity for some cardio work), I won't be able to control the food that's available for me or doing my…

Please post small scale losses, but big visual losses
Hi all, I'm trying to remind myself that the scale number isn't everything (it's a hard mental transition!) and I'd appreciate it if you could post your results for those who have had small scale losses but significant visual changes! Let's celebrate body changes without emphasizing a scale number! :flowerforyou:

Water Weight
Hi all! So, after a lot of tracking, I've come to learn that I gain quite a bit of water weight over the week. My morning (and evening weight) tend to go up about 3-3.5lbs over the course of the week. It does eventually come off (usually around Mon-Tuesday). I should add that my weekend eating isn't drastically different…

Okay, really, how long do the last 5-10lbs take to lose?
HI all, Here are some quick stats: Age: 28 Height: 5'4 Starting Weight: 168 Current Weight: 143 Goal Weight: 135 Exercises: 3 times a week for 1.5-2hrs: some cardio and lots of weights and plyo Calorie intake 1550-1650 (sometime more on high calorie burn days). "On Plan" since January Eating "type": I go for moderation. I…

Activity level
Hi All! I'm hoping you could help me out for a second. I'm trying to figure out what my activity level is. Here's the thing, 3 days a week, I workout for about 90 minutes give or take. According to my fitbit, I burn a total of about 2400-2800 calories on those high activity days. However, during the remainder of the week,…

TWO healthy things ...
What are two healthy things that you plan on doing for yourself today? I plan to .... 1) Take a nice walk after my staff meeting (today's technically a rest day, but I want to burn at least 2000 calories total today) 2) Drink 96oz of water today!

I think you are all beautiful.
Tall, short, wide shoulders, narrow shoulders, wide hips, small hips, big-bummed, little bummed, long legs, short legs, thin, big, muscular, fit (and those of you getting fit), strong..... You are all beautiful because you're doing what you can when you can to improve yourselves. Work hard and stay strong. :flowerforyou:

A little sad ...
So, today, when I finished up at the gym, I noticed that the gym was holding a little wellness fair. They offered cholesterol checks, blood pressure checks, and body fat and BMI testing. They tested your body fat percentage by using one of those Tania machines that's supposed to fairly accurately read your body fat. Now, I…

Cook 'n Freeze meals?
Hi all! What are your favorite meals to cook and then freeze into individual portions? I'm trying to look at convenience meals in a whole new light! The only thing I really don't like to freeze is soup (I don't like soup-- stew is fine). Happy and Healthy New Year to all! ~Allison

Activity Level reconfiguration ...
Hola everyone! So, I moved back to the U.S. from Spain and of course, my activity level has plummeted. As a grad student that spends most of the day in front of the computer, I don't walk around as much as I used to. As far as exercising goes, I work out about 5-6 days a week from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours (the longer time is…

Heavy lifting and initial water weight
Hi all, So, I started my TDEE reset back in June and did the full 8 weeks. During those weeks, I moved from Spain back to the United States (gained about 6 pounds) and so my exercising was sporadic. I finally am hitting my cut and have started heavy lifting. I've noticed that I'm bloated and holding onto water like crazy.…

Resetting Metabolism. Myth or Not?
Hi everyone, I've read on some forums here that some people eat at their maintenance calories every 6 weeks or so to "reset" their metabolism so that they can keep losing. I'm considering doing this in early July so that my body can acclimate to being back in the U.S. (rather than in Europe where I walk everywhere). What…

Hit a wall ...
So, things were going really well for the first couple of days, but now I feel like I hit a wall. I'm not hungry anymore ... so I'm just eating every couple of hours because I'm trying to get the calories in. What I really need to do is find higher calorie foods that won't make me feel like I've eaten an ox, but I'm only…

Good thing?
So, I'm half way through phrase one of my reset (While in Spain for the last two weeks, my TDEE is going to be higher than when I move back to California). According to my fitbit, I've been burning between 2700-3000 calories a day, so I've been working to meet those calories while I'm here (I don't always write them down…

Activity ...
Hi folks! I really want to do this the right way, but since I tend to be a chronic over-estimator, I thought I'd get your opinion on my current activity level. At least 5 days a week, I work out (either walk or do C5K/ more walking and body weight exercises) about 2 hours (I walk to the park and back to my apartment, so…

EMTWL people be my friends?
So, after a lot of thinking, I've decided I'd rather end up a lean, fit, powerful 130-something than a skinny-fat, constantly hungry, weakling 120 something. But a lot of my current (wonderful and supportive) MFP friends are eating much lower deficits than I am. Could a newbie to EMTWL ask for some like-minded friends? :-)…

New and questions about changes in activity level
Hi Everyone, I've been lurking around this group for awhile now and it's been great to see everyone's successes and how supportive everyone is. Here's some information about me: I'm 27, 5'4, 145lbs and I've been living in Madrid for the past 2 1/2 months. This has been a huge lifestyle change and I've become far more…

Holy NSV, Batman!
My inner thighs do not rub together when I walk!! EEE!!! Thank you lunges and jump-squats!

Do you ever find ....
That on days where you don't exercise, you're hungrier? I mean, it's legitimate rumbling-in-my-stomach-feeling-lightheaded hunger. And I hardly do enough activity to warrant that kind of hunger! In fact, I am less hungry on days where I intensely work out! Anyone else deal with this?

Thank you for this group!
Hi all, While I've been on MFP for some time, I had no idea this group existed! And I'm so glad it does! Looking forward to supporting you all on your WL journey! ~Allison

SV and NSV!!!!!
As of today, the scale told me that I was FINALLY at the top of my healthy BMI. I haven't been there in 5 years. I am so FREAKIN proud of myself. And my NSV? I'm officially .6lbs lighter than my driver's license weight ... that I lied on (ha!). I feel awesome! Still got a ways to go before I'm happy, but I finally made it…

Spreading out meals throughout the day...
Hi Everyone, I have a question about spreading out snacks and meals throughout the day. I'm currently in Spain where the culture eats a bit differently than the U.S. And in the summer, when the sun doesn't go down until 9:30 at night, it makes the day much longer. At the moment, I'm exercising 6 days a week-- some days I…
