Rest Week, body recomp and vacations

Hi all!
Next Thursday, I am going to San Francisco (ish-area-kind of) for my Aunt's 70th birthday and I'll be there for about 4 days. While I will be doing some exercise (my Aunt rented a beach house, so there's opportunity for some cardio work), I won't be able to control the food that's available for me or doing my normal cardio/weight lifting combo. I don't plan on throwing the baby out with the bathwater as far as eating is concerned (I've done too much work with understanding hunger and satiety cues to backtrack on that), but I also want to enjoy myself within reason and practice, what I call, "maintenance habits." Ideally, I'd like to lose a little bit, but I'm expecting that when I get back (I get back the night before my scheduled weigh-in day) I'll either have gained a bit due to water, or maintained.
Here's the other thing: I've read a lot on the forums that after a long stint at a deficit with intense exercise (I will be at 8 weeks of consistent accuracy in logging and exercise), it's good to take a short break and eat close to maintenance with a bit of an exercise/ weight lifting break because that rest period promotes body recomposition and allows you to gain some strength. Has anyone experienced this? Will my vacation plan allow for this to happen?
Thank you so much for reading and thanks for your thoughts! :flowerforyou:

I just did that for a week. The timing was perfect because I was planning to do it anyway, but at the same time I got my period and a horrible cold. I am not sure if it is all in my head, but somehow I am looking pretty damn fantastic! Also, I am completely re-energized during my workouts. My caloric intake remained pretty much the same, but I wasn't a total nazi about it like I normally am. I didn't do much cardio because I was under the weather, but I did do a large amount of squats in my room.0

That's great! It's good to know that there are some benefits to taking a break like this one!0
