Question About Weight Loss/New Workout Correlation
Good morning everyone! I have a quick question. Over the past few days, I've started trying to get my 10,000 steps in with my new Fitbit Flex. I've been managing wonderfully well so far, but have noticed that my weight has been slowly creeping up. This morning, it was at 320.6, and Friday - the day I got the Fitbit - I had…

Ladies, can we talk about ... *whispers* ... periods?
I started this journey at 330 lbs, give or take. I've lost about 12 since I started (last weigh-in was 26 days into the process). I had my normal period, but my body decided menstruating was such fun it wanted to do it again, so now I'm having my second one this month. I've read that rapid weight loss or change in diet can…

Moving Past a Breakup
So I broke up with my long-term boyfriend recently (we were together nearly 3 years). It wasn't working for a variety of reasons and at the end we were functionally siblings, not lovers/romantic partners. It's typically easy after a breakup because you can focus on the awful things they did and think, "What a jerk!" and…

Red wine might be better for you than the gym - bottoms up!
Check this study that I found online out: http://www.latintimes.com/drinking-wine-better-going-gym-according-scientists-yes-261496 Pretty sweet, huh? Who's gonna be gettin' into this stuff later on tonight? *Disclaimer: I am aware this is not as beneficial to your physique as going to the gym. I'm mostly just…

Hello! Any New Friends Waiting In the Wings?
My name is Patricia, I am 25 years old, and I am obese. There are many things wrong with the above sentence, though in all practicality they fall into the second two-thirds of it. (While my first name is not the most perfect, I've grown into it). Obese at 25? Obese at all? These are both truths, and - sad to say - it's…

Weight Loss By Diet Alone Success Stories?
Hello, all! I am aware that weight loss is almost entirely diet, and so I am trying to start small (as I have a LOT to lose!) by just adjusting my meals before I move on to exercise beyond going for walks. I feel slightly discouraged though because I'm not moving as much as so many of you are - does someone out there have…

Crock Pot SOS!!
My crock pot decided to give up the ghost this afternoon, and my lovingly-prepared pork loin needs to cook. I have a crock pot with a removeable ... pot portion, and was thinking of covering it in foil and sticking it in the oven. Does anyone out there know at what temperature I can put it on to simulate "low" on a crock…

In Need of a Slow Cooker Recipe w/o Chicken!
I'm about "chicken"d out to be honest, but I'd like to make a slow cooker meal tomorrow that will work for at least 4 meals. Maybe with beef, steak or veggie? I'll probably be making spaghetti during the work week, so preferably nothing Italian-y? Thanks, you guys are awesome!!

25/F, looking to lose at least 100 lbs - wanna be friends?
What the subject line says, pretty much! I'm 25 and work a nice cushy desk job that pays well and I love what I do, but it's showing on my gut and my thighs and well ... all of me! I'm looking for some friends who might be able to help encourage me! If anyone needs some MFP friends, just let me know - I'd love to meet some…

Getting over the initial hump
Hey, all! This is day 3 of the rest of my life, and while I'm doing pretty swimmingly I'm noticing that my body is not super-pumped about the huge jump in caloric intake (I don't know how many calories I used to eat daily but I suspect it was at least 3K). I'm now eating 1800 at the most, and while mentally I'm OK my body…

Emerald Mixed Nuts - Serving Size
So, I bought an awesome package of Emerald mixed nuts for my afternoon snack at work (Sweet & Salty, chocolate peanut butter). However the serving is 1/4 cup and I totally forgot my measuring cups at home! :( I'm seeing reports that 1/4 cup of mixed nuts is ~30, but is there someone here who happens to eat Emerald mixed…

Negatives of eating under your daily limits?
My daily calorie limit has been set at 1,870 according to MFP. However, if I eat the healthy food I buy and snack moderately and am eating mindfully, I tend to eat somewhere in the ballpark of 1300-1600 calories, and it's a struggle to hit the 1,870. Don't get me wrong, some days I definitely hit that limit but by and…
