Cleanses
I am curious about cleanses. Can someone please explain to me exactly what toxins are being cleansed? How and why? Educate me, please. I would love to read some studies on them.

Convince me Pop Tarts & ice cream are bad.
My diet choices have come under a lot of scrutiny lately. Mostly my Pop tart and ice cream consumption. Please, convince me that I'm doing it wrong. Most of the people that have a problem with my diet say my food is nutrient deficient. In fact, I believe it's the unfounded fear of sugar that most people are taking…

Eating Pop Tarts and ice cream daily.
I eat Pop Tarts and ice cream daily. I'm able to lose weight and/or maintain while doing this, without issue. My blood panels are absolutely great. Just wanted to share; you can eat what you want and hit your goals. Proceed to flame and hate. Thank you.

Girl Scout cookies
I ordered 5 boxes (4 Do-Si-Dos & 1 Thin Mint) and plan on eating them all in short order. Who ordered what? Dryer's Limited edition Girl Scout flavors are pretty damn good even the slow churned variety, speaking of Girl Scout cookies.

Thanksgiving challenge - 10k
I'm going against the grain on this one. Who's in for a real Thanksgiving challenge? EAT 10k calories or don't bother. Come big or stay home. Who's in? Calling it the "Thanksgiving 10k". Eat people, eat! I'm serious.

NSV or sad?
Tomorrow is my birthday. I really have no desire to eat anything out of the ordinary (for me). I like my day-in day-out diet (diary's open if you're curious, I eat a lot nom nom nom). I plan my week ahead of time so you can even look at what's on the menu for tomorrow. Is it a NSV that I don't want to stray from the path…

Why avoid late night snacking?
I'm going to get flammed for this I'm sure. I saw a group and popular thread devoted to combating late night snacking so I have to ask, why avoid it? If you enjoy late night snacking, why not save calories for the evening? I eat a lot at night... Typically 1000 -1200 cals between 8:30 pm and 9:45 pm, then off to bed.…

General observation on calorie burns: HRM vs. MFP
Nothing mind blowing here, in fact I'm just repeating what has been said many times. It is important information, especially for new folks. MFP's calorie burn figures seem to be high, high enough that it would stop someone trying to lose weight at a small deficit. After testing with my Polar FT80 I'm convinced of this. For…

Terrified of maintenance
I am absolutely terrified of moving to maintenance calories. What are some ways people have used to overcome the mental barrier? I understand the method of scaling up... I lost 140 lbs in 7 months on 1200-1300 cal, adjusted up to 1800 for about a month, then up to 2300 for last two months... I'm still loosing about a pound…

Maintenance or plateau?
Alright I'm just looking for opinions here.... On May 1st I was 337 lbs through a 1200 - 1300 cal diet and an hour of cardio a day by December 23rd I was down to 196. For the last three weeks I've upped my calories to 2300, my weight hasn't moved (194 avg. every day). I'm 5'10" 194lbs and I do about an hour of cardio every…

Need help with maintenance
Hi everyone, I've been using MFP since May 9th, 2011. Here's a quick run down, then my question. On April 27th I went to the docotors and weighed 337 lbs at 5'10" (32 years old). Long story short I decided to change my life. On May 1st I quit smoking cigarettes (a pack a day for 18 years) and began eating better and…
