Help! Family on HCG Diet...
Hey guys, There's not much I can do about it, but both of my parents are overweight and in their 50s and are on the second or third phase of their HCG diet. I am worried about their intense and quick weight loss... exactly how dangerous is this? My dad is getting great results (over 60 lbs in 3 months) so it is hard to…

ATTN Dudes - What would get you cooking?
I have a long commute on weekdays, but I'm also the one with the magic touch in the kitchen. While I love to cook, it just makes sense if my dude was the one preparing dinner on weeknights (I take care of breakfast and lunch). Unfortunately, he's completely inexperienced (and without instinct) when it comes to cooking!…

Wedding Dress NSV!
I almost don't believe it, but apparently you can be making progress even when you're disillusioned! A little less than a month ago, my wedding dress came in. It only served to stress me out because, while I could get it over my head, it wouldn't even zip an inch. You can imagine! But today... TODAY! I tried it on and it…

Cryselle users?
Hey - Hope this isn't inappropriate, but I wanted to see if anyone using cryselle had any weight gain problems. The last time I tried a birth control product I gained a significant amt of weight - not that it was the product, but maybe it just messed with my moods too much and I stopped working out or I ate more... who…

Cilcking Knees....
I am 3 weeks into consistent working out and lately my knees have been making increasingly loud/uncomfortable clicking noises when I bend them. Nothing is painful, it just makes me very wary of lunges and squats. My doctor says it just happens with age, but it cant be normal. Supplements? Physical therapy moves? I am…

Losing inches, not weight! Help...
I'm in my third week of P90 (just the first level, NOT P90X) and I've been fitting into smaller clothes/clothes have been fitting better, but the actual scale has not budged more than 5lbs. I know there is a phase of muscle-building where I'm gaining muscle so I gain weight, but when will the scale actually start to move…

NSV Quad Stretch
I am on my second week of the basic P90. I'm sad to say that when I started my butt was big enough that I had to rest the top of my foot on the bed in order to do the quad stretch. However, today I kicked my leg back and magically caught my foot for the stretch! I <3 You, Tony Horton!

NSV - Attitude
I'm only a few weeks into MFP, but already the difference is palpable in my house. Two nights ago, I went into the kitchen to get my water for my P90 workout while my fiance was warming up for his P90X workout. While I never thought I'd be a night-time exerciser, I looked up and suddenly felt really grateful. I told him I…

Post-workout Shake?
Should I still drink a post-workout protein shake if I'm trying to lose weight? On the one hand, you're supposed to replenish, etc, etc after a workout so that your body can build muscle and be ready for the next workout, but on the other hand the post-workout shake is part of the instructions for gaining weight! Insights?

low-cal low-fat protein low-sodium sources?
Besides boiled/grilled chicken and protein powder, where else can I get low-cal, low-fat, and low-sodium protein sources to meet my 193g per day? Everything good seems to have one of those three bad things (think peanut butter and canned beans, high fat and sodium, respectively). Is there some magical protein source I am…

what time is more accurate?
I just got a new scale. Last night it weighed in at 330, this morning at 328. Is that the scale malfunctioning or just things settling over night? I've heard the morning is the best time to weigh yourself... but is the morning number really an accurate view of whats up?

Too much protein?
Everything I read and everyone I talk to emphasizes eating protein above carbs, fats, calories, etc. But can I have too much? It seems like I go over my 76gram goal EVERY DAY-- sometimes by as much as 20 to 50 or even 70 grams. Is this bad? Is this good? And what about those articles that say 1.6 grams per pound of body…

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
Hey - Are there any others out there with Hashimoto's thyroiditis? I've been doing a lot of research lately about foods to eat and foods to avoid and I am very frustrated to find that things I've been loading up on (broccoli, spinach, coffee) work very hard AGAINST your thyroid. It also leads me to wonder if this feeling…

Commute Home Snack Ideas
I've discovered that my diet takes a dive between 4pm and 6pm-- the culprit is an hour long commute home. When I leave work I don't feel all that hungry, then 30 minutes into my drive I am unbearably hungry and I end up stopping for something relatively unhealthy. What are some foods I could keep in my car OR snacks I can…

Secrets to sugar intake?
Now that I'm actually tracking sugar intake I am SHOCKED by how much I get! MFP set me up for 39 grams, but already by noon I have tripled that with milk and sugar in my oatmeal (among other smaller items)! Is 39 reasonable? And how do I avoid having small amounts of sugar (5-8 grams) several times per day (vegan corn…

Bottomless Pit feeling
Ok, sometimes I feel like I'm just hanging around, waiting for a mealtime or an excuse to eat-- even when working, watching tv, or being out with friends! How do you get rid of that constant mindfulness of food?

Also New
Also new to MFP but so far very impressed-- already the food diary has brought a new light to my eyes, so let's do this. I am very interested in inspirational people who also have 100+ pounds to lose. For me, it's about losing momentum. This week and next week I'm sure I'll be motivated, but in three or four weeks I end up…
