how do you spend your "off" days?
Normally I'd just veg on the couch when i get home from work but now that I have my foam roller, I'm actually thinking of some light yoga or rolling or something... if I happen to brek a little sweat, more power to it?

anyone run with a lot of uphills on their routes?
On my cardio days, I basically run for 30 minutes, on the 1/2 mile loop of my parking lot. Half of it is a long, continuous uphill segment--absolutely brutal towards the end, but I get such a rush from doing this instead of running on flat terrain. SO, any of you really love running uphill? (and the downhills are good too,…

how do you get over a "brick" meal?
I just, foolishly, ate a Dunkin Bacon egg and cheese on a bagel the thing was like a plastic, lukewarm, brick in my stomach now-- what a mistake! It's so easy to be running late, and just pick one of these things up. Anyway, I'm going to try and really work out a bit extra hard on tonight's run, to make up for it

is foam rolling supposed to be strenuous?
I previously thought it was supposed to be more relaxing, just like a yoga stretch but I've found that when foam rolling, I mostly need to support my body up with my other limbs, like a plank. this is a lot of work! am I doing it wrong?

Starbucks protein bistro box- "good fast food"?
fast food is , of course, an uphill battle. but if you HAD to choose, teh starbucks protein bistro box seems like a decent choice, am I right? 380 calories, lots of "whole" ingredients (apple, grapes, cheese, hard boiled egg). The only really processed looking stuff are the peanut butter and pita bread. Bread: mini pita…

how do you cool off from an intense run?
I run after the sun sets, but it's still 89 degrees or so. feels great running, but after I shower/drink water, theres about 45 minutes where my body is just in metabolic overdrive, and I'm a hot, sweaty, mess. Whats your best method of cooling down after an intense run? Stretching? Lying on a towel? kinda a silly topic, i…

As if it needed to be said-- processed sausage = evil
Had some Nathan's Beef Kielbasa in the fridge. Aside from being loaded in nitrites and salt, I shoulda seen this coming. I took a (by my standards) VERY small portion. about 1/6 of the sausage link (2.6 servings) 442 calories, 39 fat I can feel my arteries. they are crying. anyway, yea, typical plastic, goopy, oily,…

How bad should i feel about going "over" in a fat/Chol?
I feel that myfitnesspal, while good, isn't perfect. For example, I'm on day 1 of my new lifestyle- I am finally committed to eating healthy Through the day, I've had things like (1) hard boild egg, some salmon at dinner, Argular with a homemade vinagrette/olive oil dressing....etc and yet I get these big, red GLARIND…

Is this common sense? Running outside >>>>> treadmill
I just had to come here and say- I've recently started running again. This time, though, since I can't afford a gym atm, I've been running outside WOW, it's a ton harder. I encourage anyone who runs, to actually hit the pavement. You'll find a much more challenging experience

AKA, "What are some foods you enjoy eating, but then discovered were LOADED with sodium!?" I'm on a severely strict sodium diet...and well....it's a shame so many great tasting foods are loaded with sodium :-/
