how do you get over a "brick" meal?

I just, foolishly, ate a Dunkin Bacon egg and cheese on a bagel

the thing was like a plastic, lukewarm, brick in my stomach now-- what a mistake! It's so easy to be running late, and just pick one of these things up.

Anyway, I'm going to try and really work out a bit extra hard on tonight's run, to make up for it

You just answered your own question. Run hard tonight and forget it

Don't be so hard on yourself. It was more than likely your first meal of the day and I am sure you didn't go over your calories or macros already. Just make choices the rest of the day that will allow you to still stay at your goals. If it makes you feel better, that breakfast sandwich had a good amount of protein which is not a bad thing.
