Workout partner
So this is pretty much for the ladies..... I'm looking for someone, preferably in the JoCo area, to meet up once in a while (or regularly, depending on schedule) for strength training. I used to be a personal trainer and still enjoy motivating and helping others train safely and effectively. After an injury, I have found…

New MFP app and Bodymedia
Does anyone know if the MFP app works with the Bodybugg? It's just the name brand for 24 Hour Fitness, but it really is just a Bodymedia device. I was considering restarting my Bodybugg. If it does work directly with MFP, it would be a no brainer. I'd start it up today!

Railroad wife = emotional eating...
Are there any other railroader spouses out there? My husband just left after being forced assigned 3 hours away from home. I already struggled with emotional eating when he was just on the road, but I always knew he'd be back the next day. I'm getting sooo much support from all my friends here on MFP and am so grateful.…

First 10K this weekend and my hip hurts.
I got hip bursitis in the early fall last year. I have since recovered and have been running pretty consistently with no problems. Then last night, as I progressed with my training program in preparation for my very first 10K this weekend, my hip started to ache while running. I cut back the number of intervals and walked…

Running with tummy ache???
I will usually run with a cold, bad allergies, headaches, etc. What I don't think will be very fun is running with a tummy ache. I just signed up for my first 10K and want to train today but I can't even imagine running with this tummy ache I've had all day. Does anyone run no matter what? Did it make it worse or better?…

Question for lady runners
Does anyone experience menstrual like cramps after running? I sometimes get the worst cramps after running. Sometimes they start during my run. I started keeping track of them and I thought it had to do with my cycle, but I'm not even close to that time of the month and I have cramps yet again. When I first started getting…

Anyone up for a 5K a month?
My friend and I decided to run a 5K every month starting this month. We just finished the Rivalry Run here in Kansas City. Next month we're planning on doing the Dot-to-Dot. We're choosing them mostly by charity. So, I thought it would be fun to start a group on MFP for support and motivation. Does anyone else want to do…

Getting stagnant...
Does anyone have any motivating words that can get me out of my slump? The last two weeks have been nuts and my main motivation, my upcoming beach vacation, has been postponed. I've been inconsistent in logging my food, and have not been working out regularly. I'm still trying to eat well, but I've been giving in to…

Interesting observation...
I am a grazer, or at least I used to be, I guess. I had been going about eating about 5 mini meals a day, all about the same calorie value. This is just what I've always done. At one point I even had a watch with a timer on it so i wouldn't "forget" one of my meals for fear of wanting to eat a horse later. But today I had…

Healthy Restaurants in KC
Hey there! My husband and I want to celebrate his promotion tonight but I don't know where to go out to eat. Honestly, I don't even want to go out to eat but I don't want to rain on the hub's parade. What restaurants do you know of in the KC area have yummy, healthy, low cal options? Anyone? Anyone?

How to log in walking w/ stroller
So I walk at a very, very brisk pace while pushing my 21lb son in his stroller. How do I account for the push as well as the pace? I don't know if I should log in walking at pace and do a separate log for pushing him in the stroller. What does everyone else do?

Mommies and daddies....Ideas for gym kid's club
My son does NOT like the kid's club. I took a couple months off from the gym and did other things to work out because they would always call me back to get him. I tried again today. He was in there for about 45 minutes before they called me to get him. I guess he was fine until each time the door opened and it wasn't me. I…

When "life" gets in the way...
How do you balance a full-time job, a toddler, a husband, a house, and exercise? It's been two days in a row now that I haven't been able to work out. It seems that there is always some errand to run, laundry to do, a crisis to tend to. I'm a pretty high energy person, but I still need my sleep! I look forward to my…

Hip pain got me down...help!
I'm on week 7 of C25K and today I realized something might be wrong with my hip. For the last few runs I would get sore toward the end of the run and my hip would really ache. I figured it was just muscular soreness. Today during my run I felt something as if something pulled away from the socket and I've had a lot of…

Just Dance 2 for Wii
I just got this and tried it out last night. My arms were burning!!! I broke a sweat once I got going and it was fun. Does anyone have an idea about how many calories this burns??? I logged it in as dancing, but with so many arm movements I wonder if I could also log it as some strength training. What do you guys think?

Newbie discovers the key
Hi Everyone! So I was sitting at home last night after the baby went to bed. My husband was out on a trip (he works for the railroad). I knew I wasn't really hungry but I wanted something. I was watching So You Think You Can Dance and feeling bad, watching bodies that mine somewhat resembled just two years ago. I popped a…
