Finally...a nice cool morning here! what a difference
For the last two weeks, it has been in the 70s with 80% humidity at 6am, in the 80s by 8, and 90 by 9...and the horses got turned out and not much else. The first "cool" front blew through this morning and voila, 3 horses lunged in preparation for a nice hack tomorrow! Amazing what difference the temperature makes in…

Well Done Team GB!
Just finished watching the dressage freestyles--so well done, UK riders! I love how soft and harmonious the UK riders and horses were, really lovely to watch. The Dutch lady--well, not my style I'm afraid. So happy to see a new group of faces in the dressage world!

exercise calories from horse related activities
I am never quite sure about these in the data base, but it is nice they are in there. Sometimes I don't feel as if I am actually earning all of them, however, because it doesn't seem "hard." I've lost 13 pounds since starting in June, so I should be happy, right? But I feel I must be doing something wrong when I see others who started then, too, and they have dropped 30+ pounds. I have been consistent in watching calories in, but my business commitments this last month mean I can't make it to the gym for the…

NSVs new scale first exercise class
So, thanks to the recommendations here, we bought a new scale and it is fantastic--same numbers no matter how many times you get on/off. Not the numbers we want to be at eventually, but at least we really know where we are! Today, we (husband and me) both went to our first exercise class since I began "Adventures with…

any horse people reading?
Hi, I'm new and really enjoying the message board and site. I'm wondering what exercise cleaning stalls might compare to on the list? (For those of you without horses, this involves shoveling up pee-soaked wood shavings, hay, and poops, typically completely filling up two full wheel barrow loads, and dumping them on the…
