Nervous about going back to the gym!

Pain in calves
Hi, I've been trying to start a couch to 5k plan but I get really painful cramping in the back of my calves when I try, is there anyway I can help overcome this? I also sometimes get the same pain when walking if I'm walking fast or uphill but it's not quite so bad. Thanks
