Anyone use a T2 Diabetes med that helps weight loss?
Short post. I've heard some of these meds help with weight loss. I take Metformin, which doesn't help at all.... Not sure it may not be contributing to lack of weight loss or weight gain. Thanks.

Back on the wagon.... *again*.... A word on 16/8 Intermittent Fasting + carb minimization
I'm back on the wagon again. I'm a bit of a roller-coaster with weight, but each "upward swing" thankfully is less than the last. I'm at about 276lbs right now, after reaching a lowest-in-my-adult-life of 265 a few months ago. I need to drop those 11lbs (which seem to be the important pounds to get into a size 40 pants…

Bring down my A1c?
Hi guys, Just had a check-up and my A1c came back 6.4 and my blood sugar 127. TOO HIGH. Never been that high, and I go annually for check-ups. Also my blood pressure has risen in the past 6 months (I'm now on meds) and my weight is higher than it's been in 7 or 8 years. I am a mess. I really, really need to get that A1c…

Who knows a lot about blood pressure? Stress/anxiety affects?
Hi all, Working on losing weight (again.... again....) and my whole adult life I've had "marginal" BP, like 130/80 up to 140/90 as an absolute max. Not good, but docs have never seemed interested in treating it, just told me lose weight. Last week I went in and it was 150/110. They checked again and got like 147/108. At…

Back to MFP from WW...
Hi folks, I've, unfortunately, reversed much of the work I did a few years ago losing weight and getting healthy. I tried to correct the damage by doing WeightWatchers for the past 6 months and I managed to lose only 7lbs. Total. So, back to MFP, where I lost so much of my weight to begin with.... I'm already appreciating…

I'm sure there are more people.... where are they?
Hey guys, I'm in the Real Appeal through work. It's free to me, so why not, right? Well, I'm trying to figure out how to get it to work for me. Their calorie goes seem way off base (max 1800 for male, even a 289lb male?) and I haven't really seen any specific strategies, just the normal weightloss strategies that every fat…

Help me break through a plateau...
Lost consistently for 3 months and have come to a screeching halt. No changes in eating (low carb). I'm not much into exercise, largely because I work two jobs and have no time. Suggestions???

How to build or maintain muscle and tighten skin?
Hi guys, I know I'll have a bunch of saggy skin when I get to goal weight (I already do and I'm 80lbs shy of goal). I'm 40, I've been fat my whole life, it's not going to tighten up that much. However, I'd like to try to mitigate how bad it will get, especially in my face, head, arms and hands (areas seen most often in…

Success without counting anything.
My wife and I embarked (again, for the umpteenth time in our overweight lives) on a new way of eating just about 2 months ago. We are doing low-carb. Before you freak out with the "Oh, I can't do that!" Well, I agree, it's tough to do a pure "Atkins" style low carb diet. What's not hard? Just stop eating SUGAR, BREAD,…

I'm back, obese person doing at least 4 months of low-carb
Hi all, I'm back.... I am a life-long obese person. I have been obese from age 6 or 7 onward. I saw a movie last night about a "fat" kid in high school and his struggles. That kid only weighed 188lbs at age 14. I weighed about 280lbs by age 14 and by graduation at age 18, I was at least 320lbs and wearing size 54 pants. I…

*LOSING* weight during the holidays.... ?
I'm currently up about 6lbs from my lowest, and I need to get that back off. When doing things right, I can easily do that in a month or so, and I'd like to continue forward, but we're in the holidays!! Any REALISTIC tips on how to actually lose (not just maintain) weight during the holidays? Holidays are so food-oriented,…

Progress so far (pic comparison)
333lbs vs. 292lbs..... I was actually down to 282 about 8 months ago, but got off track, got back up to 303 and now back to 292/293. Goal: 190... long way yet, but hoping to stay on track with the slowly but surely method.

How much water/bloated feeling affects weight?
That probably doesn't sound like a post title you'd hear from a man, haha, but I have been feeling "bloated" (hard stomach, feels like it's poking out more than usual), as well as I have a strained back (majorly sore), and I'm taking Aleve to help. The bloated feeling came before the Aleve, but I've had a rough few days…

Supplements with ephedra or ma huang
Hi guys, Years ago (2000-2001) I utilized Xenadrine and similar ephedra-based "stacker" supplements to help increase energy and lose weight, and this stuff worked amazingly well when used for short periods of time (30 days). I've never felt better in my life. I was pretty peeved when they banned them, but after all the…

Any gone from 350+ to 200 or less?
I'm just trying to develop myself a good visual goal, so pics would be great. I was at over 300lbs for my entire adult life. In fact, over 330+ for most of that, with a measured high in the 360's and photos/clothing sizes tell me I was likely at 380+ at one point, but was unwilling to weigh-in (not to mention back then, no…

My dad needs structured weightloss plan for diabetics...
Hi all, My dad, who is a mild type 2 (takes meds) diabetic needs a structured diet plan to lose something in the range of 150+ pounds. I think he can do a structured meal plan, such as NutriSystem or MetiFast, and I think they each have diabetic-friendly plans, but I'm open to feedback. I'd like to help him out with…

How to get past a plateau and move forward?
Folks, My weight loss has slowed down, and during spring break I gained and now have lost that again. The "net" is that I'm down so far in 2012, but the speed has slowed dramatically with a lot more upward fluctuations happening than what I'm comfortable with. MFP is set to 2lbs/week loss (and yes, I update it regularly to…

A year ago vs. now....
I started really attempting weightloss in June 2011, 5 months ago, and I'm down 42 pounds since then. I have some more gruesome before & after pics to share after I feel like my progress is a lot further. I'm only a small way toward my goal so far. However, I do work in a school, so I have the requisite "school pics' every…

I've hit my 10% goal since starting MFP.... 33lbs
Okay, I started MFP at 333lbs, and my doctor's office weighed me in at 344 just a couple of months before that. I'm right at 300 now, so I have officially hit my 10% mark, a.k.a. first major goal. What's next? My next "major" goal is 250lbs; however, I have an interim goal of 275 by Spring Break... It's gonna be tough with…

Suggestions on a CRUISE....
Hi all, The wife and I are going on a cruise for Thanksgiving. On the positive side, I won't have to necessarily face the temptation of a massive plate of cornbread dressing....mm.... On the negative side, every day is a massive buffet or unlimited-portion table seating restaurant. Suggestions for managing this, beyond…

The moronic fitness "trainers" on Biggest Loser...
Okay, I figured the topic line would bring a few of you in here... I don't really think that they're morons. I know they're probably fitness experts in many regards, but I do not feel that they are obesity experts. Why do I say this? Did anyone notice that now that they are several weeks into this season that at least 1/2…

Tamales minus the lard?
Any authetic Mexican cooks here? I have decided I want to learn to make tamales, which is a traditional Mexican dish. The filling is easy, as it can be virtually any meat (or veggie or even fruit), but the masa (corn dough) is what really makes the tamal, and the ingredient that holds it all together and gives it flavor is…

I can eat HOW MANY calories???
Hi All, I'm new to this site, once again embarking on a weightloss journey that I pray will be successful. I'm now 36 years old and I feel that if I don't do this now, I won't be here in 20 or 30 years to talk about it. I'm 333lbs and I've been over 300lbs since age 15. I can wear the same pants/shirts now that I wore back…

Is it possible to build some muscle while dropping a lot of
Folks, I'm starting what I intend to be my finally-successful weightloss process. I've got no interest in being a body builder or anything, but I'd love to have bigger arms/shoulders/chest (muscle, not man-boobs). I am not really gonna look chicken-legged, because my legs are big from hauling over 300lbs for over 20 years.…

I need some people to be accountable to.... add me?
Hey guys, I need some people to be accountable to for my eating. Can some of you add me and periodically comment on how well or how pathetic I'm doing? Please note, I will sometimes save room in my calorie count for beer. Sorry, gotta do it :) -Michael
