Mad Men Spoiler
Im pretty sure that my Mom was treated in the 60's for Graves disease. It would be nice if the storyline had January Jones taking medication to help her thyroid instead of just picturing her as a binging housewife with a benign thyroid tumor. I hope they go there later. :glasses:

Is anyone really normal?
The more I read and the more I open my eyes I begin to wonder if there really is a normal? Maybe binging is just part of life and as long as we don't go overboard we should just accept it and move on.

Foods that *CALL* to you
So, I was reading "Breaking Free from Emotional Eating" by Geneen Roth, on I think MJ's recommendation, and she talks a little bit about binging and food that calls to you. I was thinking about it today, and she has a pretty darn good point. It seems like we are told to fill ourselves up with healthy foods like veggies and…

How do we keep our KIDS from having EDs??
I think we can learn from each other here. Although we may all be damaged goods pretty much permanently. (I know that's sad, but like an alcoholic I think it is true). I know when you are in the middle of the cycle it seems like the end of the world and how on earth could we DO THIS to ourselves??!! But, it will pass. Just…

Pretending to be normal
I do this. I've never been able to really confide in a BF or lover about this issue I have. it's actually nice to find a group who has many of the same experiences and symptoms which I do. Part of the reason I broke up with my last BF is he was SO harsh towards heavier women. He asked me once where I hid all my fat…

Keeping a spreadsheet
Do not be discouraged by the scale daily weighs. Over the last 59 days I have lost 11.8 pounds, but the variation was incredible. 51% of those days I lost. The most in one day was 1.8. I gained 31% of the days. The most up .8 lbs. And the scale was flat only 19% of the days. Pretty interesting. I was pretty consistent as…

blood work
So, I had an odd circumstance happen that I had 2 blood tests done on thyroid. 1 was non fasting about 1 PM on a Friday, and the other was fasting Sat AM about 8:30 am. The non fasting test (which is what I normally do annually for my endocrinologist) came back at just over 3. The fasting test came back at about 5.5,…
