New dashboard newsfeed question
How do you add an update to your newsfeed using the latest new dashboard pushed out this month? There used to be a plus sign at the bottom. Now there doesn’t seem to be a way to make a new post

My impressions so far of Apple Watch Vs Fitbit
This group seems very quiet so I thought I would start a discussion. I have used the Fitbit HR pretty continuously since mid 2017 but the news they were bought out by Google and also the fact I am pretty much an Apple gadget gal let me to procure my first Apple Watch at the end of Dec. I have had it a little over a week…

This June I Will...
Welcome, Summer of 2021! It sure seems like this summer will be much better than the summer of 2020. Thanks to the vaccines and EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO MADE THEM POSSIBLE FOR US, life is slowly but steadily returning to normal. Most of us can look forward to get togethers, travel, potlucks and BBQs, dining out, picnics,…

Pandemic Positive!
So I have been looking back at the past few months. I started Working from Home in Mid March. How can that be 5 MONTHS already. Seriously I had expected that like China it would be maybe 2 or 3 months. Now it is looking like maybe a year. I thought it would be fun to see what positive things (healthy habits/activities)…

Monthly Maintainers Goals - thoughts?
So in maintenance one thing I like to do is set monthly challenges/goals for myself. Usually they are NOT weight related altho they could be. It helps me to think long term yet still focus on improving some aspect in my world. My Apple watch encourages different monthly ones, but I thought it might be fun to see if anyone…

Fitbit log on 5 June 20
Is it just me? I cannot log on to fitbit on my phone or the computer this morning. I checked facebook page but there is nothing there either. Edited to say I had an email from them that someone had tried to log on from an unusual location so they locked my account. It was a valid email. So strange. Had to reset my password.

MFP badges earned
So because we often quote stats in maintenance about being successful vs regain. Here are some interesting #s which are generated by the badge data 86.9K folks have earned the 1 yr badge (as of Dec 2019 when data started) 72.2K here 2 yrs 60.1K here 3 yrs 47.3K here 4 yrs 24.9K here 5 years (wow that's a drop!) 15K here 6…

In Maintenance - what do friends mean to you?
For me I have friends who are losing and maintaining. It's all the same journey. We help each other and inspire each other. It's different than IRL or Facebook because we have a much different commonality. I keep a small group of friends who are active and engaged on their newsfeeds in MFP. It helps me keep my head in the…

Maintainers with Fitbit how accurate is your data?
Just curious how accurate in maintenance you think your fitbit "calorie in and out" is? I don't really use MFP or Fitbit but the TDEE method to maintain but I do log daily. It is interesting to me to see that while I was losing my TDEE was 1850. Fitbit generally thinks I should eat 2100 or 2200 most days depending on my…

If there was ONE thing about maintenance you would share with everyone...
what would you tell them. Me, I have been maintaining since Sept or Oct 2017 so this is the viewpoint from only about 19 or 20 months in. Others who are just starting or are longer down the road may have different ideas so please share length of time in maintenance and your one BIG takeaway if you have one. I would say for…

WOE change or consistent inaccurate logging fixing stalled weight loss
So I had sort of a lightbulb moment today reading thru some of the posts which start about this time about "why am I not losing weight" etc. There are always a few folks who will pop up and say that they were stalled and then they changed up their WOE based on a Dr advice for a spouse or an issue they were having etc. and…

Linking Fitbit to apple health
So you cannot link Fitbit to the apple health app on your phone. Yesterday I left my Fitbit on the charger in the morning. A friend told me no problem. Your phone will pick up the steps. Turns out you can add a device to fitbit and it will pick up steps from your iPhone if you forget your Fitbit. Never even considered “add…

the FLU
I just want to say that I have had it since last Sat and it totally sucks. :( Read an article that it is hitting baby boomers more than usual this year. I haven't had the flu or a virus in almost 10 years. Until now.

Resting Heart Rate
Just curious. Does anyone's RHR go up in the winter months vs summer? I just got my fitbit Alta HR last summer and my RHR was pretty steadily moving down as my fitness increased. I haven't changed my aerobic workouts but have noticed since it's been cold that it has climbed almost 5-6 points. I know it is calculated mostly…

why?
Why is it that for older short women, the approved BF %s and BMIs climb? I have heard the theory that they want you to have some "padding" in case of catastrophic illness but honestly I don't want to live my life at 30% BF because I might get sick. I am 5.1+ (Drs all say 5.2 round up) and 59 yo. My goal is BF under 20%,…

Trying to stop the long term cycle and maintain
So, looking for hints from long term maintainers who were previously yo yo ers over the years. I am 59 and have been up and down the same 20 pounds probably 10-20 times since I was 16. Of course each cycle, it gets a little more variable, and it's a little more difficult to start. My plan is to track a lot of data and of…

Tips and tricks to minimize or avoid binging
How about we start a list of things we know we can do to either prevent or minimize binging. I'll start with some of the things which sometimes work for me. ;) 1) brushing my teeth 2) turning off the TV and/or computer and going to bed 3) Thinking about tomorrow morning's coffee and breakfast and how much better it will be…
