Hello, another busy (and wet) day. Tai Chi and Qigong. A stop to return a Land’s End item at Sears. They told me they no longer will take returns for them. But I found a supervisor and he gave it a try. He processed something, took the item but later I noticed while I got part of the original order back, I didn’t seem to have a receipt for the transaction. I hope I get the refund on my card. I stopped for a couple of items on discount day and then home.
I have spent most of the afternoon prepping for Saturday’s class. Answering emails, compiling an attendance list, going through my supplies to try to make sure I have enough for everyone. I need to cut a couple of pieces of cardboard and organize a few more things. It took longer than I thought as I had to hunt for some supplies (didn’t think I would need them so I didn’t have them at hand).
Still thinking about what I could possibly do for an older lady who attends. Although no one ever said anything, I have noticed that she is usually given special projects. They are perhaps half complete with anything difficult already finished. She may not have a very good day with me in charge. My projects require you use the materials and your own creativity to complete something. Well, she usually has someone to help her so I guess I need to stop worrying about it. If that is possible.
Sandy, good luck at Bingo. We will be happy to see you with a win!!
Jackie, enjoy your visit. I know if I happened to be visiting, I wouldn’t care that much about housekeeping or lawn issues. I would just talk and talk, walk and play with George. Haaaaa.
Patsy, sorry for the disagreement with DH. You are right though, the fur will grow back. It is stressful to tussle over these things. I hope Katie isn’t ashamed of her ‘look.’
Well, I am tired. Apparently the season for illness has already arrived. A lady at Tai Chi this morning seemed down in the dumps but she said no, she came down with a virus late last week and is just a bit on the upswing now. Another woman was escorted out of the classroom space. I thought she was dizzy. But they had a waste basket by her side. She said she had been throwing up last night and was feeling rocky. One of the staff brought her some saltines and a cup of juice. Oh boy! The lady at the credit union said she was hoping to stay well. Her husband had just come down with some type of bug and was feeling horrible. Maybe I should stay home until spring?
Going to rest up.
Hugs all round.

SANDY, do you mind if we all Adopt your precious Charlee? What a love! I had trouble ... I s anyone else out there having trouble with my : I CAN'T get to type a post!1

Good morning
Have dropped off books at the library and am waiting for Trader Joe’s to open. Then home, off to the library ladies group followed by a Tai Chi lesson. Wahoo!!! And no rain. Very cool temps. Loving it.
Yes Sandy, could we all be Auntie to your precious grand daughter?
Buzz, what a good idea that was. Hope you are winning in all the battles with companies and technology!
Hugs.
Lin0 -
Happy Thursday! Finally a $50 win at bingo! Maybe my luck will change for the better.
Of course you can all be adopted Aunties to Charlie, she is one lucky girl. Another rainy morning here but Babe tells me it is going to clear up before my meeting. The good thing is the temps have dropped so windows can be open. They talked me into becoming a member of the American Legion Auxiliary last night even though I wasn't sure I wanted to join. I am not good in volunteering except for Al Anon.
Lin, you love your Tai Chi lessons don't you? That involves a lot of balancing correct? Not sure I could do that with my artificial knees. Even though I love summer I am loving our lower temps, probably because the pool is closed.
Buzz, great idea wanting to be Charlie's aunties, very sweet of you. I hope your post are able to be typed on today, I have a wireless keyboard and I have to move it around when my letters aren't showing up. I probably should change the batteries. lol
Jackie, busy getting ready for your friend, I think she arrives today if I remember right.
Have fun and stay out of trouble.
Patsy, every once in a while I think I should do something to change my life but it seems like I have no time as it is and appreciate the days I can stay home and do nothing.
Anne, hello. Jeri, hello.

Hello sneakers. My friend arrived safely and we're settled down for the evening with lots of chatting... lots of laughter too! Will check in when I can.
Lots of hugs for you all

Hello again. Warm sunny day. Here. I am in the dungeon clearing space for new projects. Painting and tonight I am to have a chat with my writers group. They aren’t a really good fit because they are writing primarily for adults. I am still fussing around with my children’s books. Fun and frustrating!
John is headed to Costco with a huge list. We are out of everything. Including the most essential thing...chicken for Katie. Then comes putting it all away and fixing something for us to eat. As I said, this is secondary to the chicken prep for the furry princess.
Talk about a visit with hell! A friend just emailed about her two brothers and their wives visiting from Colorado. They live in Washington state. She was madly planing meals and activities for the six of them and as her guests arrived!!! The pump went out on their well. No water at all. Difficult finding help and parts or replacement pump. They had to carry buckets of water from neighbors to flush toilets. No showers, they had paper plartes and plastic forks for two weeks until guests left. They went to Swimming pool in the next town to shower. I could hear her scream from 500 miles away! I would be screaming as well.
I love having guests but John loves visiting for short periods of time. He is very organized...I love mess and spontaneity. So we live in strange harmony.

ANOTHER LOST POST0 -
Happy Friday! Another cool day, maybe even a jacket day. I am thinking of going to see the kiddos today if I can build up the energy. I just wished they lived a little closer to me rather than a half hour to 40 minutes away.
Anne had an issue with mosquitoes getting into her window A/C and got several bites that are causing her some to do some itching. She also tried to give Jilly some suggested vet dog food but Jilly had the trots all night, thus Anne had no sleep. She wrapped her A/C in saran wrap until her boys can take the unit out of her window and was able to sleep last night.
Buzz, I am sorry you lost another post, maybe sign out of MFP and sign back in. We miss your wisdom.
Patsy, what a horrible story about your friend and will re post here so Anne can read it as well.

My daughter and I used to have a rule about guests staying no longer than five days. But now that she is in Florida I abuse that rule to get those Florida rays.
Jackie, I am glad your friend arrived safely, enjoy your time with her.
Lin, I see that you also are keeping Anne in the loop so she doesn't forget us.
Have a good day.

TGIF folks! Sunny and slightly warm today but truly not too bad. I am in the middle of a delimma. You remember a few days ago I decided to try to change things up a bit here. My dilemma is what I suggest for the weekend. I want the weekends to be more fun and less work. We have gotten into a habit of everyday is filled with tasks! No! No! There is always some chore that MUST be done. I do believe we can schedule in a couple of days a week with more entertainment.
Anne: I hope you are considering a mosquito repellent. When we lived in Alaska that was essential. Life would be unbearable without it. Avon made this bath oil we all used, not in our bath but we rubbed it on for mosquito repellent. I think it was “Skin so soft.” Worked like a charm.
Sandy: it is wonderful to have your adorable grand babies even 40 minutes away. I know I would be a pest...always wanting to see them and play with them.
Buzz: I read that Microsoft has finally relented and is supporting windows 7 and 10. John is delighted. I have a workhorse Apple desktop. It is truly wonderful. Apple and I go waaaaay back! I don’t understand PC and John hates to work on my Apple.
Lin: our senior center has many programs including a lunch. I can never get John to consider going to the center. I think he tries to pretend he is 40 years old and isn’t a senior. Aren’t we all funny? I think I will put tai chi class on my wish list. I do have several videos but it really isn’t the same, is it?
I will brush Katie and start minor haircut repairs on John’s grooming session. Katie has not suffered any identity crisis over her lop sided hair do. She is invincible! I am laughing too hard to do a good job on this today.
Patsy0 -
Hello everybody me - the remanents of the storm ‘Gordon’ are brushing our area with another day of rain. Just what we needed. Haaaaa. It has stopped now but it is very overcast and more precipitation may be on its way.
Another lovely Tai Chi and Qigong morning. Our usual organizer was out today due to illness so I was introducer of new people, name tag organizer and person to put supplies away. Also had a nice conversation with several people before returning home. Soooo late!
I dropped off a bill at the post office on my way home and then hacked through a boatload of emails. Lunch is now a memory and I am packing for tomorrow. Morning will be club/class (nervous day for me) and afterwards I will drop that load of stuff at the house, pack up a different load of things and join the usual paper crafters at the library for the remainder of the day. I did some stamping on normal card stock so am taking some water based markers and some colored pencils along to see what might work the best. If I had used water color paper I would definitely be interested doing bits of painting on them or if I had used alcohol marker friendly paper I would tote along some Copic markers. I have finally accepted that you cannot successfully change your mind after you’ve stamped! Nothing but mess follows if you try to make the paper behave. Haaa.
Patsy, best wishes on trying to bring some different activities into your lives. I have found I prefer to find things to do M - F rather than on the weekend. That is probably due to my people/crowd aversion. I am glad Katie is not living in abject shame while her fur grows out.
Sandy, I hope you got enough energy together for a visit with the cuties!
Jackie, happy visiting. See you whenever you are able to stop by.
Buzz, oh darn, another post evaporated. Incredibly frustrating.
Tomorrow will go by in a blur and then Sunday will be church, communion lady chores, and continuing shunning by my friend I would imagine.
Hello Jeri, Marie, Barbie, Diane and all other Sneakers.
Hugs.

Happy Saturday! It is a beautiful day with cool temps and sunshine. Not sure what my plans are for today besides Church and a visit with Babe and Daisy. I did not go see the kids yesterday as it was a rainy kind of day so I just stayed home and played my computer games.
My life is not an exciting as Lin's who is always busy doing something fun.
Buzz, sorry you are having computer problems and losing your internet.
Lin, good luck at your class today. I know you will do great and teach them all some new techniques.
Patsy, I try to see the kids at least once a week but admit I was lazy yesterday. I am sure Katie is still beautiful even with a few hairs out of place. Hopefully, you convince John to do something fun this weekend and leave the chores for the weekdays.
Jackie, I can imagine you sitting in the garden room sipping tea and/or wine. I hope the critters are behaving.
Anne, still missing you here but trying to keep you in the loop.
Have a good day,
Sandy

Ooooooh quite chilly this morning! Not sure what will be on the schedule today. I am having a hard time just waking up and stirring around. My inclination is to snuggle in a warm quilt with a cup of hot coffee and read. Sounds like a winter afternoon...not a fall Saturday.
I have to do a few little things then I think I will discuss some entertainment options with John. Knowing him, he will suggest Home Depot! It is okay but I think we need to check out a nice place to go for dinner. I also want to hang my fall wreath on the front door. I am also getting out some of my fall decor things. I love the hand blown glass pumpkin made by my glass blowing friend. He is so interesting looking. He shaves his head and always wears a headband to keep perspiration from his eyes when blowing the hot glass. Because of years of blowing glass, his chest is huge. His lung capacity must be enormous. And he always wears shorts and a leather apron. What a fashion statement!
Can’t help myself, I must read the new Bob Woodward book.
Don’t you just love the fresh white peaches in Costco? I love them with a dollop of Greek yoghurt for breakfast.
Spiders are making egg sacs and sticking them on the walls outside. John is going to pressure wash the house. Why can’t they just live in the forest?

I have spent hours with a techie from Microsoft on a CHAT from Windows HELP! When I logged on today, I did not recognize my desktop and was at a loss as to how to use my computer! Somehow, I found the help button from Windows and requested a chat and found out my computer had changed ( all by itself?) to TABLET mode!!! I never even knew that existed, since I do not have a touch screen! All seems back to normal now, since I clicked on desktop mode. But these Window 10 updates are driving me nuts. Hours out of my time! Good thing I'm retired, although perhaps if I were younger, I wouldn't get so flustered, lol!
PATSY, I don't know if I would have the patience to read the Woodward book. We really know
how insane and crude Washington has become under this maniac. But his followers just adore him! His whole approach is that of an entertainer, not a leader, running off at the mouth with no connection to whatever he has for a brain! Could I stand re-reading how frightening he is? Or the people using him as their puppet? I am both embarrassed and ashamed for my country, which I have always loved with all my heart!
I also just lost this post! But finally recovered it with CTRL + Z. Are we being controlled? I think I will post before I lose it again!

LIN, Is Gordon different from the hurricane moving along the Atlantic into the Carolinas? The weather has suddenly taken on a menacing look! You are doing so much with your time and life at this point; such a difference from when you were sole caretaker for you Dear Dad! Such a wonderful blossoming!
SANDY, I think you deserve a day off, all by yourself. Your life is extremely interesting in a totally different way than LIN's! And I certainly admire and love you for the interest and care you show for others, family and friends!
ANNE, change your password and please come back! The new AARP newsletter has a big article on how to understand and protect yourself against what's been happening to you and others! How do criminals live with themselves?
JACKIE, I visualize you with your 4 legged and winged family and your lovely new garden room and I don't know if I feel a certain wistfulness or is it envy for the wonderful world you have built!
Tomorrow is the beginning of the New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and I don't know if BARBIE still follows us, but I would wish her and others who follow it a L'Shanah Tovah! I'm afraid I have become quite lax about many beliefs, but so many holidays are celebrated by huge tempting meals, reminding me of so many family memories, I signed up for tomorrow night's holiday dinner, hoping to forego some of the really tempting but heart and weight unhealthy foods!
When I moved in here, I was definitely in the minority, but over the years, the residents seem to be more evenly divided, and our chef has learned to make a number of holiday dishes he probably never heard of before! And he has learned to make wonderful matzo ball soup and potato pancakes as good as the ones my dear Mother made. It is something my original family always did, celebrating all holidays, and we enjoyed as many different ethnic holidays as possible!
Off to bed so I can rise at a sensible hour tomorrow!
Buzz.

where is everyone today? I managed to get through to video call my son today and all's well there except they have to find a new home as their landlord was returning from Canada in 90 days, unable to find a job.
This is a great site for seeing if your firewall is working properly. Because mine is a new computer, it is absolutely safe from hackers, as the test showed!

Happy Sunday! Beautiful day so I might go to a Fest near my friend's house. She moved into a new building and it is a loft so I would like to see it. I can stay for Bears game if I want but will see. She has a 70 inch TV so it is probably like a movie theater screen. lol Right now I am remotely on Babe's computer so he can watch his granddaughter play softball.
Buzz, I am glad you got your computer back to the right screen and are back with us.
Many blessings to you in your new year!!
Patsy, don't be rushing Fall, I am still not done with summer. lol The glass blown pumpkin sounds beautiful, please post a picture.
Lin, I hope all went well in church today and that lady wasn't unkind to you. Of all people she should be grateful for what you do.
Jackie, hope all is well and you are having a great time.
Have a good day.

Buzz, Accuweather update from a few days ago regarding Gordon.
“September is typically the most active month of the Atlantic hurricane season, and this week Florence became the first major hurricane to form in 2018.
Meanwhile, Gordon made landfall as a strong tropical storm 30 miles east of Biloxi, Mississippi, on Tuesday night, battering the region with flooding rain and damaging winds.
Up to 6 inches of rain was reported in some areas. Storm surge led to flooding and covered the barrier islands. The storm led to widespread power outages as well. “
The rain track brushed us.

We had a Happy Sunday here. Veggie pizza, watching football game...Packers vs Chicago! Wow Rodgers does it again and with a bunged up knee no less! it was a good game all around. John was a happy guy. Watching an engaging ball game Katie was happy sitting on the couch with her head in John’s lap. Bliss! I was happy that they were happy.
We are having a gentle shower. So badly needed. The trees are dropping needles and cones. They tell us it is because of dryness. We were watering all last week.
No phone call from our son. He must have been on the water somewhere or on a date with his girlfriend. We will catch up with him next week.
My weekend plans were not exactly as I wanted but still a nice low key couple of days. I was able to trim a little of Katie’s odd hairdo, but not all of it. Answered More letters from friends. I love email but not everyone enjoys it. I get impatient writing by hand. My handwriting has become almost unreadable.
I wrote a long post (nothing very exciting) then forgot to post reply before shutting down the iPad. Can’t remember any of my original pearls of wisedom.
Happy new year, Buzz!
Hello dear sneakers...hope you had a lovely weekend.
Patsy0 -
Good morning Sneakers
Another day of errands in store. Haircut, post office, glasses need adjustment, return some tops I don’t like, quick search for a Halloween stamp for the inside of my cards, pick up a few spuds at the store, Tai Chi and get the trash ready to out out this evening.
I have had a lovely, long, warm shower, wrote a check (forgot about that last week), cleaned some fresh veggies and made a container of cold brew tea. Will make a cup of hot coffee soon. Nice start to the day.
Happy New Year Buzz. I trust you enjoyed the special dinner a little bit.
Patsy, oh my, I feel the same way about my handwriting. It is terrible! But I often write a short note in the cards I send. It is truly becoming an ordeal. Sorry you did not get in touch with your son. Your weekend sounds perfectly lovely to me.
Sandy, did you have a good afternoon/evening? Your plans sounded good to me.
Jackie, still enjoying your visit I assume. I hope George also likes having company.
Hello to everyone I have missed.
Hugs.
Lin0 -
Good morning sneakers. George and I still enjoying our company and we are having lots of laughs as we walk, talk and visit local water holes (as above!!) Yesterday's pub lunch was delicious but unfortunately a family with badly behaved children sat directly behind us and were so loud at one point we considered picking up our food and drinks and taking ourselves to the other end of the bar. It was interesting to watch a 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl still in nappies control the adults by screaming loudly or climbing on to seats to open windows and come close to falling out!! More dramas this morning over nothing more than 2 coffees and a shared hot pasty at a farm shop cafe but I won't bore you with that!!
I've read everyone's posts and giggled at dear Katie's hair woes, been delighted Lin's lessons went well and Sandy was chilling for the weekend but oh dear Buzz, still the internet problems hitting you! I've tried to look at your emailed amazing photos but this iPhone won't display so will head for my laptop now. My friend is staying until Wednesday and we have invited another with her little dog to come here for lunch tomorrow so George will have company too!
Will be back to posting regularly from Thursday. Hugs to everyone

Happy Monday! Had a great time with my friend, her loft apartment is very nice. We walked and checked out the vendors but I didn't buy anything. Like Jackie we laughed and talked and got caught up with everything going on in our lives. I stayed for the first half of the Bears game but unlike Patsy we weren't happy with the final score. Today I am going to see the kids for sure so I can't mess around with my time this morning. I hope everyone has a good day and life is good for you.

One Day at a Time0 -
Crazy day! I got to use my leg compression boots this morning and they were the start of a rather relaxed day, I thought. After lunch it occurred my nails were looking grungy, so I got our all my usually unused materials and tools and really cleaned up and polished and teabagged splits, etc and set about building layers of care and color and was beginning to apply the French Manicure touch, beautiful white tips, when my doorbell rang. I carefully opened the door with my wrists (just try it!!!) and there were my beautifully dressed neighbors looking shocked at my state of neglect, asking if I had forgotten the party1 What party? Oh my gosh! A sort of cocktail party anniversary celebration for my dear neighbors , a younger couple parted by his Parkinson's disease which has wasted him physically but his brain still functions as the brilliant journalist/humorist he has always been! I closed all my bottles, grabbed clothes that sort of matched and ruining my still unfinished wet nails I just locked my door behind me and hurried upstairs to the party room, embarrassed, late, and made to feel so welcome by the small group of invited guests and hosts. I was showered with wine, lamb chops, meatballs, Spanikopita, chicken in peanut sauce, cheeses, and whatever else was on the table, and then was introduced to the tiny number of attending guests. Vibrant ladies in their 90s who had lived fascinating lives volunteering or working on just about every continent existing, and none ready to give up yet! However, 2 of the 3 men present were in wheelchairs. I'm not sure what that tells me, but I enjoyed my new acquaintances tremendously. Tonight, I redid my nails, dozing off between coats! Never a dull day! Tonight, I learned the 93 year old who so entertained me was a nun; without the habit, one can never tell!
Well, of course I did not go to tonight's dinner, but I'm considering skipping Weight Watchers this week. Last night's holiday dinner was superb. My self discipline was not!
I see this new day is opening with that most dreaded in my memory...9/11! Remembering is just as vivid as though it were yesterday. I'm sure we all choke up just thinking about it!
Better thoughts to sleep on, and wishing you all a splendid night's sleep!

Hello! Odd jumping as I try to post...tomorrow........,..
Patsy0 -
Lost my post. I see we are asked to stay silent this morning in honor of 9/11 remembrance. I will try to be back later. Meanwhile, broadcast TV is certainly not holding back on commercial breaks.
Lin0 -
Happy Wednesday!! This is a somber day remembering all those lives lost. I did as was asked and did not go on Facebook from 8:46 to 10:28, from the first plane to the last.
I did go see the kiddos yesterday and can't believe how fast Charlie is growing. Robby went to pre-school so I had alone time with both Max and Charlie. I could see Lisa was exhausted so I tried to entertain them as best I could, however with Charlie nursing and eating on demand it doesn't give Lisa much of a break. I was exhausted when I got home and slept from 11:00 pm to after 9:00 am. Big money bingo tonight, hoping for some good luck for a change.
One of the slates broke in my horizontal blinds so I am going to take it apart again and fix them since the broken slate is about to drive me crazy.
Have a great day.

A day of remembrance and dedication! I do remember the feeling a overwhelming fear and sadness. That was the last day of national innocence. Everything changed after that.
It is a chilly day with scattered showers. I am so worried about the beautiful Carolinas and Virginia. Hurricanes are so forceful and absolutely one cannot withstand the wind and flooding. It has been years since our category 2 here. The trees are recovering but we can still see whole stands of trees that are rotting but the reminants are still visible. Plywood and sand bags are just laughable against these kind of storms. Get your animals and family together and leave right now. We were without power for 10 days and also water. I hope everyone takes this seriously.
Take care everyone. You are all so dear to my heart. This is the kind of day that has us counting friends and family and acknowledging our blessings.

Indeed, 9/11 lives as vividly for me today as the day it happened. I cannot wipe out the memory of those buildings with all those victims plus all the super brave "rescuers" just being destroyed, along with the many blocks surrounding them! And the K-9 Corp destroyed or forever harmed, along with their masters, several of whom were women. Lung problems in the survivors made their remaining years miserable. As for us Americans, we suddenly woke up to our years of isolation being over! The reality of vulnerability seems to have sunken in, but what have we really done about it, especially now? We have a number of new residents here from the U.K. and a few other European countries and I am so impressed by how differently we view history since WW2! I tend to believe that we were extremely impressed with the Hollywood versions of our history and characteristics, and the cowboy movies that made us out to be separated by the "good guys" versus the "bad guys"! Swagger and bullets galore! Yet I cannot think of a single one of us who fits those descriptions!
JACKIE, what a great picture of 2 happy friends!
SANDY, hope your bingo dreams come true!
PATSY, you are dear to our hearts, too! And yes, let's count our blessings!
LIN, I hadn't heard about the request for silence, but I certainly agree!

Good morning, early Tai Chi morning but thought I would drop a line. Both Mah Jongg and coloring (visiting) were lovely yesterday. The afternoon coloring/visiting was very pleasant as well as a bit productive. My friend who had the private graveside Memorial service for her husband on Monday was there. She described everything to me and said she feels everything is complete for him now and she feels much more at peace. His year long illness was so intense for both of them.
Worked on cards again. Did some reading. Went outside and removed all the nasty sticky webs from my house. And of course tried again to stop the AC from running all the time. Short of just shutting it off, I do not think it is possible.
Need to do laundry when I get home today, bake my sweet potatoes and get some things packed up to donate to charity. Etc., etc., etc.
Sandy, such a happy time with the kiddos. Did you win any $ at bingo?
Buzz, our dear friendly caring lady. You go all out to attend all celebrations. I would likely have just ignored anyone knocking on my door if I was busy.
Patsy, hello. I hope you are enjoying your week.
Anne, dear one, I hope you will be able to return soon.
On Facebook I saw that Jeri is in Scotland now. Such lovely photos!
Hugs Marie, Barbie, Diane and all Sneakers.

Happy Wednesday! No winner again, 14 numbers are left. No win at bingo either, so hopefully tonight will be different. Doing laundry today and would you believe after taking the blinds apart and replacing the broken slate that when I was done and looked at them, one slate is a slightly different color. With my OCD I will be changing it today so it doesn't drive me insane.
My SIL in suffering with kidney stones and he has opted to have them removed with Ureteroscopic Stone removal (google if interested) on Monday. Otherwise the doctor said it could take up to three weeks for it to pass and he has a smaller stone in his kidney they can remove at the same time.
Lin, I too, saw Jeri's pictures and she looks like she is having wonderful time in Scotland.
I guess our Monday wash day didn't happen this week with both of us being so busy.
Buzz, sorry you ruined your manicure but it was worth it to meet some interesting people.
Things are different today with nuns not wearing habits, some not even veils. I bet she had some interesting stories to share.
Patsy, I have a couple of relatives who have just moved to South Carolina so like you I am worried about them. I have often said I don't know why I live in Illinois but then I think it seems to be one of the safest places weather wise. Yes, we do get tornadoes but not to often in the Chicago area. Of course we have the worst reputation as far as crime but that again is in the city of Chicago. Always something it seems.
Jackie, I hope the fun is continuing and George had fun with his playmate.
Anne, haven't heard from you but will hope all is well.
