:) Besides our usual groceries, we picked up a bag of potting soil and a cucumber plant to put in the raised bed. Yesterday I finished pulling all the weeds in the iris garden so now I'm on to spreading bark which is a very meditative practice interspersed with walking to the bark pile to refill the buckets. An hour a day accomplishes a lot. Jake has spread a lot of the bark this year so the yard is likely to be finished much earlier than in years before.

:) As I hear about your various aches and pains, I am so grateful that for today, I am doing well in the mobility department.

:) If I had grandchildren they would have to be the kind that filled their days with reading and walking (or some other self directed) physical activity. Fortunately, the only grandchildren we have live far away and have other grandparents who dote on them.

Hello friends. I watched church online, messed about with the OTA antennas again trying to receive more channels. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Wish I knew which antenna was the strongest. They all claim to be fabulous you know.

Otherwise, I am trying some new things to ease my back misery. I think several are helping a bit.

It sounds as if everyone is having a good weekend.

Jackie, Kerry and Angela got a new puppy. So adorable! They called him Mini Max for a day and then decided on Tully I think. Two other puppies in the litter are Hamish and George. I don’t know who adopted them and they are not disclosing who they purchased from. Only information is the pup is from Scotland.

So tomorrow I believe I will plant green beans and the tomato plants that were finally delivered last evening.

    Be safe everyone.

Hi, off to pick up a few groceries soon.

Sorry for a typo yesterday! It is Tally not Tully. Cute whatever the name.

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day to those who celebrate. Having a pool party with my friends at the pool and Cheryl, Marisa and Cathy are also coming. Later I will make steaks on the grill. Should be a fun relaxing day. Ordered groceries to be delivered at 9pm last night so I could bring my share to the party.
Every item was in stock which amazed me seeing as it is a holiday weekend.

Enjoy you day and I hope your weather is as good as ours.

Sorry I didn’t get back yesterday. I fell asleep again!

Tomato plants potted, more green beans planted, everything watered and sprayed the deck of all my potting soil spills.

Today is a day of errands.

    Wishing everyone well.

Another busy day for me doing what I love. On the way to the moors I detoured into town to obtain cash to pay Barney, then we walked a shorter route in a rather cold wind. Nothing new there! I’ve cut the lawn, weeded a bed and helped Barney dispose of the branches of Laurel and Hazel that he cut down. He is working a couple of hours at a time so will be back in about 3 weeks. It turned into a very warm day so I covered my face and arms in Factor 50 and continued to potter. I see my Chinese greens seeds have sprouted as well as Nasturtiums Charmaine sent.

Time for a cup of tea before closing everything. I left the roof of the hen house raised because Lupin is still broody and it can get very hot inside.

Love the strawberry teapot Lin. Hello to everyone else.
    Happy Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday! :) Had a great time at the pool yesterday and my steaks on the grill were a big hit.
Unfortunately, they are closing the pool today through Saturday to fix a leak or skimming problem or something. We are told they will probably drain the pool which means it will be freezing when they refill.
I am sitting later and meeting Lisa at their pool so she can leave to go to a meeting and I will stay and watch the kiddos until they are tired of swimming. Lisa's 13th sober birthday is today so I am sure they will have a cake for her at her meeting.
Tomorrow I am going to see Grease in a live play and then an early dinner with friends. Thursday my meeting and therapy, Friday dentist and then spending the night at kiddos house so they can get up early in the morning for the five hour drive to pick up the new puppy. Robby will go with but I will stay with the two little ones and they asked me to bring Max to karate so he can see his instructor get hit in the face with a pie. Must be some kind of tradition. Sunday we are taking Marisa out for her 18th birthday. Another busy week which seems to be the theme this summer.

    Have a great day.

Completed my errands today. I had a return to drop off at UPS. They were so busy when I arrived, I had to stand in line outside the store! Wow! Lots of road construction again today as I wound my way downtown for another errand.

I sorted books this afternoon and have the intention to try to sell some at the used book store. Probably a waste of time. We will see.

Cleaned out some things from the refrigerator. And then the day was done.

I watched my regular Tuesday evening YouTube Live.

Tomorrow, I have a stack of paperwork to attack. And right now, we have lightning, thunder and rain! Wow!

    Wishing everyone well.

Morning. Mark and Mary Jo came over yesterday. They cut strips of something to wrap around the apple tree trunks. We have a plague of gipsy moths in this area which are decimating the tree leaves and potential fruit. The caterpillars climb up the tree to reach leaves and the start of wee apples. They apparently can’t climb the barrier to get to the top. Mmm. I am imagining crowds of bugs scratching their little buggy heads trying to figure out ways of doing this. Creatures are cleverer than we give them credit for.

I’ve given up on BBC news. SO depressing. Yesterday was full of man’s extinction due to AI. Easy solution I think, just blow the darn thing up. After all it ain’t a living thing.

Anne the now ignorance is bliss gal.

Goodness! It felt like we were back to Winter on our morning walk. Three layers required, a knitted head band and almost gloves! All change at lunchtime back to sunshine and since a new, heavy granite base for the garden umbrella arrived a day early I spent time putting it together. There is an extra brass tube but no instructions, so I have left it out! It might be a bit wobbly, but it is keeping the hot sun off my young plants. I have a lot of washing out to dry and will spend the rest of the afternoon weeding. Nothing much else happening so I’ll wish everyone a happy Wednesday and hope all is well.

Anne, you must blame that Canadian inventor of AI for creating the damn thing. He’s asking that it be used for good things only but I shouted at the news story “Too late mate. Should have thought of that before!”
Oh yes, then there is a story about scientists inventing peas that don’t taste like peas, for goodness sake! Why? 😵‍💫

Happy Wednesday! :) Another beautiful day without the pool being open. Today that is okay because I am going to a matinee play. It is the musical Grease so it should be fun. Then a late lunch/early dinner.
Easy sitting at the kid's pool yesterday, they had lots of fun.
Still waiting for the results of my heart tests but no news should be good news correct?

    Enjoy your day.

Quite right JACKIE it IS a Canadian who’s invented AI. I think all scientists should be locked up with their diabolical inventions and forced to eat peas daily that don’t taste like peas.

Didn’t it all start with the Chinese inventing gun powder, much “improved” today and we mustn’t forget James Hargreaves and his Spinning Jenny changing the face of England's green and pleasant land. And on and on, and now this Canadian twit probably inventing the worst possible thing of all. Artificial intelligence. My ex was an inventor, which says it all!

    Aaaaaaagh. ANNE.

    Good Wednesday morning, all.
Sandy, sounds like a nice day. I luv the music from Grease.
Jackie, always walking…bundled up. Its crazy windy here and not normal weather for us….whatever normal is anymore.
Anne, we always sit and discuss the depressing news, especially the AI news.
Only thing we can do is live in our own little bubble. Go to musicals, walk, weed, wash, etc.

Become activists JOY. Yell, “enough is enough”. Pull the plug, blow AI to kingdom come. But you are right JOY. I’m no activist/suffragette at 87 with a gammy foot. Lol. AI is called progress. Maybe it is after all but I somehow doubt it.
Move over, I’m joining you in the bubble whilst the goings good.

Actually, in my younger days I had strong feelings, but was never an activist type. So, I turn 87 soon, and cannot see myself taking action now. 😍

    Something like this JOY?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

    Good evening.

Busy day. I did go to the used book store to try to sell some books. Not a profitable enterprise. I did more sorting this afternoon and contacted several friends to see if they were interested in any of the types of books I know they prefer. No go! I did have a nice long conversation with one friend and we hope to go shopping together sometime in June.

Finished reading a book I had started some time ago and worked with my deck containers a little bit. It is fun to tinker!

Hoping AI does not do us in. I have other things to think about so I won’t think about that too much right now.

    Be safe everyone.

Anne, thx. Yes, thats it. AI is supposedly going to benefit medical field. That would be a good use.
Lin, always busy. When I moved in the middle of Covid, I tried and tried to DONATE bookshelves of hard back books….no one would take them. So I brought most of them.

How to get rid of unwanted books? Well someone started a good idea here. First a local man made a sort of wooden box. Being artistic he painted this a wild abandonment of glorious colours. It has a glass fronted door and is set on a pole and placed under the trees in the little public garden at the corner from me and close to our St. Aiden church. The idea is when you’ve read a book, place it in the box for someone else and take a book if there’s anything you fancy. Works a treat and was started during the pandemic shut in. I’m starting to empty my loaded bookcases so must take some “who dunnits” the next time we pass on our walk.
Grocery delivery day so must get moving.

    Happy June everyone! 🌸🌿🌺🌳💐

Grocery shopping was done early without a hitch then, since a car wash is a couple of minutes from the store, I got to wash off the dust that had accumulated driving up to the moors. It’s another beautiful day and we had a lovely stroll, chatted to a dog owner with her crazy Jack Russell Ziggy and am now home and hoping to once again potter outside.

What with the AI inventor regretting his work, I’ve now read that the man who bred the first Labradoodle says it was like creating Frankenstein and in retrospect, a mistake. Call us old fashioned but weren’t we brought up to think twice before making a decision we might later regret? A lesson for all innovators!

That’s a pretty tea set Lin. Not many butterflies around yet but I did spot a small British Blue last month.

    My garden calls! 👩🏻‍🌾

Happy Thursday! :) The play and dinner were excellent. One of the friends couldn't go because she got bitten by her daughter's dog by accident. There were two dogs rough housing and she put her hand in the middle. Since she is on blood thinners she had to go to the ER and also see a hand specialist. She is okay just in some pain. We had another lady come with us to use her ticket. Grease is set in 1959 so I was reliving my teenage years.
Meeting today where we say the serenity prayer at each meeting. I also say it a lot when I get upset about things. I have therapy after the meeting and did not sleep well again last night. I sleep well for about 4 or 5 hours and then I have a hard time falling back to sleep even taking a sleep aide.
Here is Obi-Wan who will be picked up on Saturday morning.

Happy Friday! :) I have a dental cleaning early this afternoon and a couple of errands to run before spending the night with kiddos. I got my heart tests results back and all is normal and I meet with the doctor on the 26th. So good news and I am thankful.

Nothing else exciting going on so I will wish you all a great day.

Hello, still working on little things. Right now I am trying to contact several tree services to obtainestimates. One place called back and it will be after the 11th of the month before they will be able to take a look. Yes, everyone is busy.

Next Tuesday is our clean up day and I have found several things, so far, that I believe will be accepted. Need to keep looking.

Sorting books into 3 stacks, try to sell, library donations, charity. I think I am making this too difficult!

We had more rain yesterday afternoon. We are over an inch now. Things are starting to really grow quickly.

    Nothing else interesting here.

    Be safe.
