Not sure whether to call this a "victory" or not, but I went to yoga today for the first time in a long time. I can now feel way more bones (especially my tailbone) when I am laying on the floor and it hurts! Lost my cushioning
I know what you mean about being not sure it is a victory. Going to a high school footbal game with the metal bleachers is unbearable without a seat cushion now.2 -
Went to the store last night with my wife, and as we were passing the dairy case I decided that cottage cheese sounded like a good snack (hadn't had any in awhile, so why not) and got a small container of full fat version. Just as an aside, I have always had low-fat because I was raised in the 'fat is evil' era so it was a habit to buy the low-fat variety. Got home and had some of the cottage cheese (OMG - it's like I have never had cottage cheese before - that stuff is wonderfully creamy and tasty!).
My NSV - I didn't eat the entire container last night (altho it took some serious willpower to not do it!).12 -
My NSVs this week are:
- Ordered wings for take out instead of Arbys or McDonalds which we used to get all the time. Tastes way better and since it was wing night, they cost just as much!
- Tried a few new recipes. Low carb pumpkin spice pancakes, keto biscuits, and a dish called creamy swiss chicken bake which was chicken, swiss cheese, sour cream and spices. That one was my FAVORITE! Big hit with everyone.
- Went to my Dr and the nurse commented on my weight loss, said my blood pressure was good and ordered me some blood work. I got it done this morning so I'll be posting my results and will (hopefully) have NSVs in there as well.
- Tried fasting for the first time yesterday and fasted from around 8pm on Tuesday until 5pm on Wednesday. It wasn't so bad and I loved being able to feel like I was eating a lot. I had 3 pancakes, 6 pieces of bacon, a couple of shrimp in garlic butter and an egg and I was still under my calories for the day. I liked it so much I'm doing it again today and will be feasting on wings later8 -
Nsv today I did my measurements and my waist is under 40 inches!!! Not by a lot but it's still so exciting.15

I tried on a pair of size 11 pants that I had that I haven't been able to fit into for a few years... and although they were quite snug.... I could pull them all the way up and button them as well... I am going to have to lose the muffin top a little before I can wear them... but they used to not go up past my hips and tush!11

This may be an odd one, but I am now the one at work that people ask about how to cook. A bit more than a year ago, if it wasn't something on the grill or smoker or wasn't chili, I didn't cook much of anything that wasn't via microwave. Now, people drool over the leftovers I bring in. The best reaction lately has been to the pork rind "breaded" pork chop cooked in butter and garlic powder. mmmm....good!8

I mentioned earlier that I had to buy all new clothes (including a new suit) since I lost weight. Here is one of my cruise pics from formal night. I have gone from too tight 38 waist pants, to 33/34 waist!
This is what I used to look like, and this wasnt even at my heaviest. I wouldnt let my picture be taken when I was at my worst. I was probably sucking in my gut in this pic too!

Keto, and probably LCHF in general, has really been keeping my anxiety at bay. I have mild anxiety which I don't have to take any medicine for it fortunately, I just have to sort of talk myself out of it. Not sure if it's because the food I'm eating is actually affecting the chemical balance in my brain or if because sticking to this WOE has been something that is personally motivating me and that I'm finding passion in and THAT is what is improving my mood and easing my anxiety. Probably a little bit of both as I read carbs can play with your brain chemistry so it makes sense that cutting carbs would balance you out. Also, I'm able to stop stressing about losing X lbs before my Christmas vacation because I know that I'm already on the path. Even if I don't lose my goal pounds, I know I'm at least making an effort to.7

Today's NSV my skin has become so much better, had several compliments today about how glowing my skin looks.
And it is true, even I have noticed how much better it looks. It is so much clearer, my T zone is changing for the first time since my teens, and in generally even areas I used to have dry skin on looks to be almost back to normal hydrated skin!2 -

My skin has umproved dramatically. It was never really too bad but my pores have always been very big for as long as i can remember with tons of stubborn BHs on my nose and a little bit of discoloration. I'm not sure how much of the improvements I'm seeing is attributed to this WOE, how much of it is because I started the Oil Cleansing Method and, lastly, how much of it is becruase I havent worn any makeup in a month. Either way, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing3 -
@bowlerae now that you've mentioned it, I don't remember the last time I've had a breakout. I've been eating lchf for a little over a year now.5

About a year or two ago I purchased these VERY cheap knockoff Nike workout leggings from this online store (I should've known they were knockoffs because they were like $5 and Nike products are usually $50+). I tried the first 2 out of 3 on and they ripped before they even got past my knees! They were well over one full size too small. I put the third pair on today and, though they are a little snug because of the cheap material, they did not rip!3

This is not really a good body story for a victory, but still I notice a good change in how I think about my body. Over the course of about two years of keto/lchf, and after losing a steady 110 pounds and then also a fluctuating plus or minus 25 pounds on top of that, and as I manage maintenance, I notice that I feel far less critical and I am less judgey about how I look on the outside.
I've really been working on building a satisfying life for myself alone during this time...not even really sure what it will even end up being, but just trying out new things, taking big risks with all kinds of new people relationships which has been mostly great but sometimes painful, and lo and behold, my body preoccupation has been lessening.
I'm just past a point of weight regain which has me motivated to reverse this, but not in a frantic, demented manner. Just need to put a bit more attention back to it.
I have wanted for so long to get this food issue beast off my back...and now I can see some progress in this. I'm not "there" yet, might never get it all figured out, but I feel a littler freer and way happier than I used to.9 -

I had a really emotional day yesterday for some reason. I was tired and stressed about the start of the work week and all I wanted was a glass of wine or some sugar or both. Instead I tucked my kids in, cuddled them longer than normal, and went to bed early (and cried for a bit).
This would have formerly been one of those instances where I was eating sugar without even tasting it to stabilize my mood. It makes me sad to think about that. But I'm proud I didn't.19 -
I've started to notice that frustration is one of the things that triggers food cravings. Some of my main sources of frustration are work and DRIVING! I don't get really bad or aggressive road rage but it seems like no one can drive and I get very annoyed easily. I've noticed every time someone does something on the road to annoy me I immediately think of going to the supermarket and getting a box of Swiss Cake Rolls or Bertolli ready-made pasta bags. This also explains why so many times prior to this WOE, I would have every intention to go to the grocery store and get healthy groceries but if I got annoyed on the road, that plan quickly changed.
I'm happy I'm starting to identify certain situations that cause cravings.8 -

Yes, me too. It isn't terribly often, but there are occasions where I get very frustrated with other drivers. Sat. late afternoon / early evening, for example, I was in a nearby city (otherwise, the town I live in is small and surrounded by fields). There are 2 lanes of traffic in either direction and a center turn lane. I'm in the outside lane, and come up on a re-purposed school bus stopped in the opposite direction's outside lane (so 4 lanes away from where I am). This old school bus was being used as a party bus and a group of people were pouring out obviously from a wedding (based on how dressed) and going into a bar. But the party bus still had the stop sign out (I'm not sure that is legal since it is not an actual school bus), and there was a car several ahead of me with someone too stupid to drive who didn't know that:
1. An illegal stop sign isn't going to be enforced, and
2. In my state, when there are that many lanes, our lane is not required to stop for the stop sign on a school bus anyway.
3. Technically, this bus was illegally stopped since this is in an area where no stopping, standing, or parking is allowed on the roadway... which is also what the car ahead of me was doing wrong.
So now I'm stuck behind several other cars, most of which are honking at the idiot who was stopped and shouldn't have been... but still isn't figuring out he should get moving.1 -
I tried on a bunch of my shorts today (I'm heading on a vacay this Saturday so I needed up make sure I had clothes that worked for me). Most of the shorts I have don't even work for me anymore. My waist is smaller and my booty is bigger. At first I just thought I was too large for some of my shorts (because they were tight on my thighs and booty) but when I did them up and had a gap in the back I realized I'm making all sorts of leg and booty gains while reducing my waist size. Works for me!!11

My NSV today: When my daughter Anna (16 yrs old) saw Keto working for me she decided to try LCHF and she has now lost 13 lbs. She has stopped complaining of joint pain. She feels better in her clothes. She's generally happier and she keeps eating LCHF. That's MY NSV for sure...my kid's improved health and happiness!20

My NSVs last week - Trying out fasting, I found a few drinks from starbucks that I really like. Iced coffee with heavy cream and sugar free vanilla syrup, and passion tea with heavy cream,no sugar, sweetened with SF vanilla syrup. The passion tea, I was really surprised at how good it was even without the sugar they would normally add. I had those for lunch and then had most of my calories for dinner and a snack before bed.
Also got my blood test results back and it shows some improvement. I'll take it3 -

@RowdysLady - Goodness, that has to be the best ever feeling - winning for our kids and loved ones almost always feels like more of an accomplishment than for ourselves...1 -

I LONG for my 17 y/o daughter to want to do this on her own. We tried for a couple weeks during the summer (mama's demand) but it would be so much better and I think she'd stick to it, if it was her idea. She has what she calls "growing pains" quite often. I can see that she would benefit from this so much. I wish I had known about keto when my kids were small.3
