So, Ed and Don, and Roger will now have headaches from laughing, or wondering how I find my way home….I've had this computer, and my gmail account for YEARS…..many many years. Ted (DS2) always sets my computers up for me…and yesterday I discovered that all these emails are also on google web site, duplicating what I see on my gmail account thru Apple…only all this time they have been PUBLIC!?!?!? OMG. Not that there's anything there thats an issue, just the thought is creepy. So, right now I have over 15,000 emails sitting on this computer, not put away in their little files!!! As of discovery time, I became the 'Mad Hatter of the Email Delete" squad..At 500 a day, most days, it will still take quite a long time….ARGGGGGGG!
The bread I buy is the Healthy Life bread that is high fiber, very low carb. I can go with the "regular" or the 100% whole wheat, depending on what taste I feel like eating, though I usually go with the 100% whole wheat. Sometimes they are out of that so I'll get the "regular" just for that reason, and sometimes I just want the milder flavor of the regular or I plan to make sandwiches for J, who doesn't care so much for whole wheat, though he'll eat it if I put it in front of him.
Either way, the bread only has 35 calories per slice and, while the slices are somewhat smaller than a "normal" sandwich loaf, there is only one carb serving in TWO SLICES of the bread. Most "normal" breads have one (or more) carb servings in a single slice. Cutting that down to one carb in two slices lets me have a REAL sandwich, with two slices of bread, but without blowing all my carbs for the meal in just the sandwich bread.
As for the GOOGLE mail...surely there is a way to retroactively mark your backup that is on the web as PRIVATE or password encrypted so others (besides the NSA, who has already read, filtered, and analyzed them all anyway and is probably reading this post as I type it) can't easily get to your stuff. I don't, personally, use GMAIL for a lot of mail but my mail is not public there. I don't remember how, exactly, I set it up because that was ages ago. Yours may not be as public as you think it is anyway.

TGIF All,
Glad we are at the end of the week, it looks to be a busy Friday for me. Motorcycle should be ready when I get out of work with new "shoes".....actually more like $500 gone, gone, gone Roger. The idea that all of my e-mails were going "public" is quite scary, hope you get all your stuff deleted soon and the problem solved so that you don't have to do it again, the thought that everyone has access to information related to my purchases online is creepy. Sad news today as one of my favorite blues artists B.B. King has passed away, he was one of the greats. My wife and I saw him perform on our honeymoon many, many years ago and through a purely chance encounter My wife ran into him in the hallway of the venue we saw him in as she was looking for a restroom in the hotel. He was a master of his craft and will be missed. Have a good day all!0 -
Howdy y'all. It's fabulous Friday! My boss's brother passed away this morning so I'm going in a bit early. May have to cover some for her next week as well, though it's pretty full already...

Howdy y'all. It's sensational Saturday! Working that long middle today, but need to remember to get some beef stew going in a crock pot before I head out. I have set out everything except the beef, to remind me to cut up the veggies and get it all going just before I walk out the door.
My schedule for next week was already pretty full but my boss's brother died yesterday so that schedule may go into overtime with her needing to be gone for a few days. We'll see what it turns into. I'm sure she's busy today figuring out how long she'll need off and all. I went in early yesterday so she could get out of there and get started on necessary stuff.

I cleverly set up some beef stew to slowly cook all day in my largest crock pot while I was working, turning the device on just as I was heading out the door. I came home to find a delicious dinner all ready to eat. I finished eating my late dinner about an hour ago.
D and his visiting friend are eating some now. J is out of town but he would not be eating any of this anyway.
I'm finishing off my glass of cabernet sauvignon...

Happy Sunday All,
I'm stiff from working in the yard yesterday, I did the first lawn mow of the year and cleaned up the yard and the driveway. I'm looking at a really nice day here, planning to have breakfast, give the Jeep a quick wash and vacuum and then head out on the motorcycle for a little saddle time and put a some wear on those new tires. You can definitely tell the difference with the new tires, the bike rides really nice. You're right Val $500 is a lot, that covers the tires, the labor and I had them do an inspection too so that I won't have to deal with that later. I have to be somewhat careful on curves with the new tires until the sidewalls get a little scuffed because with new tires they are a little slick until you scuff them up a little and you can go down if you lean too far into a curve. At this time of the year the roads have sand on them from the winter and you need to watch out for that in the curves too. I think I'll go over to NH today, not sure if I'll go into the White Mountains. I'll put a chicken in the smoker for a couple of hours after I get home. Have a good day all!0 -
Howdy y'all. It's scintillating Sunday! Working a long closing today, but it's supposed to be rainy and icky which may slow down business. Sunday closing usually isn't too busy anyway, but that varies depending on what (if anything) is going on in the nearby river park and/or with the nearby churches and schools. We usually get a little bit of a rush when afternoon/evening services get out, regardless. I'll be bringing "dinner" with me to work since I'm working 3:30 to 11:30 closing, so dinner will be a sandwich, with another one for snack. I may finish off the stew for lunch, having already had a bowl for breakfast.

Monday, Monday....
Yesterday was a good day, had a really nice ride over to NH and back. It was in the mid 70's. I ended up going to the motorcycle warehouse store in East Conway and took the scenic route to get there. There were a lot of car and many, many motorcycles on the road yesterday. I saw a pack of younger guys on these super bikes who were not wearing any safety gear at all pulled over by the Deputy Sheriff, I'm sure for speeding, these guys go down the roads like it is a race track. Motorcycle tires are more expensive because they are made with different compounds than regular auto tires, they have to be somewhat pliant/gripping and flexible for cornering and yet be able to offer some stiffness for stability/wear. When you get a new set of tires the edge of the tire that would be face down when you lean is smooth and slippery because it's a new tire, after some miles that changes and you're fine. I would imagine mine will be fine with another ride or two and I'm willing to do my part for safety! In looking at the calendar I just realized that this is the last full week I'll be working for few weeks as I have time off scheduled at the end of each week, with Memorial Day off and Thursday and Friday of next week off as well, I'm looking at a two day week.......I like it! Have a good Monday everyone!0 -
Howdy y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Apparently I still have the day off (crossing fingers) as no one has called asking me to adjust the schedule, so I guess they've worked it out. As mentioned earlier, I already had 35 hours scheduled this week so there's not a lot of room there for adjustment anyway, unless they want to change some shifts to entirely different shifts. Not sure how much time off the boss will need for her brother's funeral and all, but I guess I will find out tomorrow. Today is supposed to be pretty rainy in the afternoon which sounds like an excellent time for a nap with Lilo. Lilo heartily approves of naps. In fact, she's having one in my lap right now.

Howdy y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! Posting late today, but yes my day off Monday stayed off all day. And my Wednesday closing turned into another off day, but my Thursday day off turned into an opening, as did my Saturday middle. Boss will be out of town for the funeral Thursday through Saturday so I'm filling in where needed.

So this is very frustrating...I haven't gotten into the regular...and I hate the word "habit" for this, because it really is more than just a habit...coming to THIS site to see you folks. I still make a quick stop at NS when I remember for the 50 clicks, but then I forget to come over here! With the NS site (when we had the boards there), it was a quick click to greet you folks and read your hellos back! Now I have to remember, and I apparently am not good at that!
I will try to remember better. Perhaps now that my grades are all submitted for the semester (actually, I just have some reports to finish ASAP), I may have more memory in this old head for seeing you folks!
Enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend (and today sonly Tuesday...see my my head is?).

Howdy y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! Since it's an unexpected day off, I don't have much scheduled. I've been up for a while, but distracted by Lilo's breakfast, my breakfast (which distracted Lilo), catching up on FaceBook posts, reminding myself that I CAN'T mention on FaceBook that the only reason J and I went to M's house last night was NOT to watch the Dancing With The Stars finale, but rather because we figured she invited us because she was bored and lonely, so we went, enjoyed some wine and cheese, and the show wasn't BAD, just not really to my interests. Some of the dancing was quite well executed. M seemed delighted to have the company and I feel it was an evening well spent, as, in addition to providing company for M, it helped to push me to socialize more, as I tend to be rather antisocial, given half a chance. Definitely a win win.
Got my "big water" done for the in house plants and the only other thing is that J mentioned possibly going to the hardware store for some stuff. As I love browsing at the hardware store (is that just a man thing?) I won't mind going there at all.

Howdy y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Been up since 3:30, but busy getting Lilo's breakfast ready, my sandwiches to take to work, my morning (to take with breakfast sandwich) metformin and supplements, getting the dishwasher going, and catching up on FaceBook quickly. Gotta run to work now! I'll try to remember to post my latest bloomers later, after work.

Good Morning All,
Ah! I remembered to come here early in the day! I am very excited about that.
Speaking of all things NS, when I did the DD and 50 clicks, I saw a link about the DD moving to a NS "News Feed," so I clicked it. And there was no 50 clicks button there. Maybe they are eliminating that feature too? If so, not a good thing...
On the other hand, today's DD was right there with my name on it! Yesterday Marc and I did something we didn't do in years (literally): lunched on a bit, fat - and fattening - hoagie (submarine sandwich to some other folks). And I took that as an opportunity to completely go off path the rest of the day. I had no intention of staying off the path today, but the DD remind me to get back in line!
We are really getting ourselves going with the truck camper. Spent yesterday getting a hitch extension made and installed so we can take our mountain bikes, Marc's sailboat (very tiny), and our kayaks when we go out camping. I am really getting into this fun now!
Enjoy the holiday weekend folks! And stay safe.0 -
Happy Thursday All,
I know what you mean Lee-Ann about coming to this page, I forget too. Good luck with the camper sounds like great fun and I'm not jealous at all about you're real retirement Val......looking forward to the holiday weekend here, the weather is supposed to be reasonable, then next week I only work 2 days and go to my club's rally on an island north of here, then the weekend after I leave on Friday for Vermont for the weekend. The big decision is motorcycle or Jeep for that one.........we'll see. Have a good Thursday all!0 -
Good Morning,
So I missed a big post from Val? Retiring for real after Monday? Well, congratulations! Very cool, exciting, and fun stuff for you! I guess you will be doing more gardening and other fun things. And right as the beautiful summer weather comes on...congratulations (but I already said that!).
Roger, tough choice there for you: Jeep or MC (is it a BMW motorcycle?). You know...you could always tow the MC behind the Jeep and have both...whatever you decide, have a great time!
Ed, howdy to you too! Anything special going on this weekend?
For us, just doing stuff around the house today, family over on Sunday, office Tuesday, then maybe take a few days out in some state park. Not sure where...wherever the mood and weather lead!
Enjoy it all folks...0 -
Howdy y'all. It's fabulous Friday! Working today, Saturday and Sunday, but I'm OFF Monday and going (hopefully) to a pool party with friends. I never did get back on here last night, just came home, took a long nap, made dinner and went to bed fairly early. But I needed to get ahead on sleep as I open tomorrow.
But I'll try to post pictures NOW. Here's hoping I can remember how to do that on this site...
First one, can't remember just exactly WHAT this is, but it's pretty...

OK. Now that I tried 4 different ways of trying to include the image directly, and found the right one....
Here's more:
Gardenia (a little bit blurry, but I wish I could include SCENT with it!):
I can only claim this lily as MINE because we bought it and paid for it, but I put it in the ground just after buying it (in bloom) and hope that the three stalks will prosper and multiply. It was the only pot with that striking color combination at the hardware store. We've had mixed luck with lilies, particularly with J's tiger lilies, which seem to do well for a year or three and then die, but so far the Easter lilies I planted last year seem to be doing well. If they make it to bloom, there will be pics. One of them divided itself into two already.
Dianthus. Always lovely.
And one animated GIF just to mess with your heads! No, your computer has NOT been taken over by aliens.

Howdy y'all. It's sensational Saturday! Been up for an hour already, but heading to work soon. I have my snacks prepared and ready to bag, and the dishwasher is running.
Vegetables for the grill...as Val mentioned, grilled corn on the cob is FANTASTIC, but it is high carb so you'd only want to eat one. Grilled zucchini, tomato, carrots, all good. Eggplant if you have time to properly brine it to get the bitter out. Bell peppers, onions, mushrooms! Asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower! Oh, heck, just toss the whole vegetable garden on the grill!

Good Morning!
Ed...you got me! I misread your comment about the aliens and instead, thought someone had gotten control of my computer (someone doing it remotely). Glad it was your GIF! Thanks for posting the flower photos. Thye are lovely.
Roger...Sweet Baby Rays, in a proper, measured amount! It is delicious. FYI...I have used Walden Frams BBQ sauce (calorie free, sugar and fat free). I found it too hot for my tastes, but my husband, who likes hot and dislikes fat/sugar/calorie free did like it. GO figure!
Val, when you say squash, are you recommending winter or summer squash on the grill? I like various vegetables grilled, no oil or any kind. I do them in a veg grill basket. Red peppers and big chunks of onion are favorites!
Don...you must be out Jeeping or MCing. Enjoy!
Take care all!
Forgot...did anyone else get the NS email that the 50 clicks program is stopping as of June...1 or 30 (can't remember)? I wish my lottery picking numbers were as good as predicting things like that (go back a few posts...I questioned it!).0 -
Happy Saturday Morning,
It's fall like cold here this morning. I'm up early and getting ready to go out in search of something for the BBQ smoker. I went to BJs Club last night and just about anything you could put in a smoker was gone. I'm going to go over to Walmart this morning and may even take a day pass to go into Sam's Club to see if I can find something. Last resort is the butcher store about a 1/2 mile away, the meat is great, but the prices are high. We'll see. Playing it by ear this holiday weekend. I got a message from NS yesterday telling me that 50 clicks is going away too and they gave me a $10 coupon, so now there really is no reason other than to manage my orders to go there anymore..............got to get going. Have a good day all!0 -
I ended up working 12 1/2 hours today. Then we went out for Thai food at a favorite restaurant.

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday.......
I'm up and getting ready to go walking with Fury. I looks like it's going to warm up here today and I'm looking forward to it. I essentially goofed off most of yesterday, drove around town picking up things I forget to get when I made my first shopping trip on Friday night. I got a day pass for Sam's Club and walked around a bit, but was not impressed to the point I where I bought anything or decided to pony up for a membership. I wish we had Costco in Maine, I have heard it's much better than both Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club. It was fun buzzing around in the Jeep though.......one of the most bizarre things about owning this new model is that other than a woman at my workplace, I have not seen another one of these on the road in the month that I've owned it. Lots to do today, need to walk Fury, mow the grass, wash/vacuum the Jeep and make pulled pork in the smoker. Maybe a bike ride if I can get all this done and have any energy left. Have a great day all!0 -
Howdy y'all. It's scintillating Sunday! Long close tonight (8 hours) and then off tomorrow. We are supposed to be going to a pool party tomorrow, with the hosts providing burgers and kosher hot dogs, and guest bringing sides and desserts. I'm planning Southwestern Suffering Succotash, which is easy and tasty. It's just two cans of jalapeño and bell pepper spiced corn, drained, and then mixed with two cans of spicy hot chili beans (not drained), warmed up and served. Additional spicy heat can be added if desired, but I do want the other guest to be able to eat this so I guess not this time...oh, and you can use plain, whole kernel corn if desired, or Mexicorn. It's one of my "whatever" dishes. The first time I made it used plain corn but then it evolved.
I figure at the party I can eat a burger and/or a hot dog without bun, and then browse the sides for something appropriate and I should be able to do OK. J will be eating pretty much only sides and maybe dessert, but at least I'm bringing something that he knows he can eat. There will probably be potato salad, chips, maybe slaw or macaroni salad that he can eat. Baked beans, but only if I bring them as he otherwise can't trust that they aren't made with pork, unless they are marked as vegetarian or vegan.
Well, I need to get these cheap chicken legs going in the toaster oven so I can have some for lunch later. $1.79 for 5 decent sized legs. Not my favorite part of the chicken but when it's marked down that low, I can eat it and enjoy it just fine. Saving money can taste quite good!

Happy Memorial Day All,
Taking it easy today, yesterday was a working day to be sure, property looks good, cars are washed, Fury walked, BBQ made. I'm thinking this will be a good day to start getting prepared for my club rally next week and maybe go for a motorcycle ride. I'm working Tuesday and Wednesday, then off the the rally Thursday through Sunday. The week after is Vermont, we'll see what the weather looks like, although it wouldn't take a lot to convince me to take the Jeep. We'll see. Enjoy your last day Val, have a great party Ed. Everyone have a good day!0 -
Howdy y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Happy Memorial Day!
I've been up for a while but busy with getting Lilo fed, then getting my breakfast prepared, then talking with the boss about scheduling for this week and next. A guy who worked with us last summer is coming back for this summer, and boy, are we glad! All of us liked him, and he was very reliable and dependable. I may get to help with his refresher training as half of my long close tomorrow night, if he can come in.
Breakfast this morning was a bit long in preparation but worth it. I peeled and cleaned a little over 3/4 pound of white shrimp, then broiled it with a light butter, lemon and garlic sauce. While it was cooking I prepared a small swordfish steak with canola oil spray, salt, pepper, dill weed and paprika. I cooked the fish while I was eating the shrimp, and then talked to the boss while the fish finished cooking, and talked to her some more while I was eating the fish, and keeping Lilo out of my chair. A little bit of high fiber, low carb toast finished off the breakfast.
I did establish this morning that Lilo likes swordfish. She kept insisting that she liked it and that she would have some, even though she had never eaten it before, so eventually I forked off a small tidbit and put it on the floor for her. She DID like it, but since I don't spoil my cat...(right?)...she didn't get any more, despite asking for more!
Can you tell I browsed through the WooHoo! (Manager Special) section of fish/seafood the last couple of work nights?I've got quite a bit of additional fish, mostly salmon but with a few bits of other things, in the deep freeze now for other fishy meals.

The party was great! My side dish was well received and the burgers and dogs were good, though the burgers were a bit too well cooked. Still, I ate one, no bun. And the dog was Hebrew National, my favorite brand! They broke the kosher on the dogs though, by cooking them on the same grill as cheeseburgers. Oh well, I doubt anyone at the party cared about that.
We stayed about 5 hours and then came home, where J had some leftover fried rice for his dinner and I, not wanting much, pretty much just made a small filet of red snapper, with canola oil spray, salt, pepper, rosemary, and paprika.
A light, and quite tasty, dinner.

Howdy y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! Working a long closing tonight, but the light at the end of the tunnel is visible! E will be back from vacation next week, and A is back with us for the summer, finished with his classroom training and just needs to do his refresher On the Job Training. He might be with me for the second half of tonight's long close and if he is, then he, of course, needs to to most of the cash register and if the weather isn't too horrible then I can try to get some of the deck extra clean and well picked up. I'm sure he'll be a quick study since there is nothing much changed since last summer and really, to my way of thinking, just a few hours of refresher should be all he needs.
Just some bacon and a little bit of potato for breakfast. Working on my first cup of tea now. Lilo, incidentally, liked the red snapper too.

Happy Wednesday All,
Today is like Friday for me as I'm off for the rest of the week after today. I'm meeting some club members tomorrow morning to go up to Hermit Island and prepare the site for the rally which starts on Friday. The weatherman says strong thunder showers Thursday night and then pretty much sunny for the rest of the weekend with warm temperatures. I'm taking the smoker and a new tent, so this will be a good test for the new tent to see how it holds up in the rain. Lots to do today, need to pick up the stuff I'm smoking at the rally and start loading the Jeep tonight. Should be fun. Have a good day all!0
